1.Application of distraction osteogenesis in correction of deformity of spine during development

[Objective]To evaluate the value of distraction osteogenesis for treatment of deformity of spine during development.Distraction osteogenesis could be used for patients with campylorrhachia,dwarfism eccyliosis of spine or those combined with thoracocyllosis and obliquity pelvis.[Method]According to the principle of Halo-pelvic distraction apparatus which was divided into two parts of halo and pelvic,the halo was 4-nail fixation and the pelvic was 2-nail fixation.The halo and pelvic were connected by 4 standing pillar.Through the daily extending of 4 standing pillar the curved spine was extended and stretched gradually.As a result,action of 3D correction of deformity of spine was achieved.[Result]Ten patients of this group were treated by this methods.The action of 3D correction and automatic correction of deformity were showed in 70~120 days distraction that the wedge-shaped vertebra changed into squareness,curved spine was stretched and rotatory vertebra was reduced.[Conclusion]Distraction osteogenesis is a minimally invasive surgery instead of internal fixation of spine for the treatment of deformity of spine during development.
2.A case of huge extramedullary plasmacytoma in the retropharyngeal space.

Extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP) are often located in the head and neck region, commonly affecting the nasal cavity, tonsillar fossa and oral cavity but rarely the retropharyngeal space. In this report, a 60-year-old woman with large EMP in the retropharyngeal space is presented, who was diagnosed by pathology, bone marrow aspirate and computed tomography scan. The patient received operation and postoperative radiotherapy with dose of 50 Gy. At sixteen months follow-up, the patient was doing well with no signs of recurrence.

4.Deletion of Nucleotides of NS Gene from 263 to 277 Decreases the Viral Anti-IFN Ability of H5N1

Since 2000,most of H5N1 subtype influenza A virus had a unique mutation of NS gene with 15base pair deletion from 263 to 277. In order to investigate the bio-characteristics of this mutation,two different NS recombinants,RWSN-248 and RWSN-m248,were generated via plasmid rescue from A/WSN/33(H1N1) and A/SD/04(H5N1). RWSN-248 had a higher viral titer than RWSN-m248 in MDCK and COS-1 cells that have an IFN response,but they had the similar growth ability in Vero cells that lack an IFN response. Both of two recombinants grew well in embryonated chicken eggs and had the similar viral titer and MDT. The results above revealed that the deletion from 263 to 277 sites of NS gene did not influence viral virulence to but decreased viral anti-IFN ability of H5N1.

7.Effect of Aspirin on Thromboembolism in Hypertensive Patients Associated with Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

Objective To investigate the effect of aspirin on the incidence of thromboembolism in hypertensive patients associated with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.MethodsFour hundred hypertensive patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (mean age 59 years) free of thromboembolic events were randomized assigned to receive aspirin (0.3 g/d) or placebo. Cerebral thromboembolism,including transient ischemic attack and embolism of peripheral arteries were defined as primary outcomes. Event-free survival curves were estimated by Kaplan-Meier curve. In this paper,a pulsed magnetic fields stimulation instrument is designed and realized,which provides a pulsed magnetic field with the range of maximal intensity from 0.01~2T,frequency from 0.2~100Hz and time width of pulse from 0.01~1ms.The instrument,controlled by the hand,foot or itself,can display stimulus intensity and times and output trigger signals with different waveforms to make measuring devices operate synchronistically.

10.Rapid quantification of total nitrogen and end-point determination of hide melting in manufacturing of donkey-hide gelatin.

Hide melting presents itself as one of the most critical processes in the production of donkey-hide gelatin. Here a NIR-based method was established for the rapid analysis of in-process hide melting solutions as well as for end-point determination of this process. Near infrared (NIR) spectra of hide melting solutions were collected in transflective mode. With the contents of total nitrogen determined by the Kjeldahl method as reference values, partial least squares regression (PLSR) was employed to build calibration models between NIR spectra and total nitrogen. Model parameters including wavelength range and PLS factors were optimized to achieve best model performance. Based on the contents of total nitrogen predicted by calibration model, end point of hide melting was determined. The constructed PLS model gave a high correlation coefficient (R2) of 0.991 3 and a root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP) of 0.807 g x L(-1). With the predicted total nitrogen and predefined limit, decisions concerning the proper times of melting were made. This research demonstrated that NIR transflectance spectroscopy could be used to expeditiously determine the contents of total nitrogen which was subsequently chosen as the indictor for determining the end-point of hide melting. The proposed procedure may help avoid unnecessary raw material or energy consumption.
