Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2003;0(3):31-33
A retrospective study was carried out on 1581 patients with hypertension and cerebrovascular accident (stroke) resulting from hypertension in Hai Duong General Hospital from 2000 to 2003. The results of study: the number of patients with hypertension and stroke is increasing, male more than female; the number of patients with stroke was higher than that of patients with hypertension in the same period. Hypertension and stroke were increasingly by age, often in elderly population with age above 60. Nowadays, severe cases are more than the past recent years

4.The frequency and risk factors of hypertension in Phu Dien commune, Nam Sach district, Hai Duong province
Journal of Medical and Pharmaceutical Information 2004;0(2):18-21
Background: Hypertension is a major cardiovascular risk factor that directly contributes to coronary artery disease, stroke, congestive heart failure, renal failure and peripheral arterial disease. A number of important causal factors for hypertension have been identified, including excess body weight, excess of dietary sodium intake, alcohol intake and reduced physical activity. Objective: A study on the frequency and risk factors of hypertension in the adults of Phu Dien commune, Nam Sach district, Hai Duong province. Subject and methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 1,129 adults (18 years and over) of Phu Dien commune, Nam Sach district, Hai Duong province in May, 2005. Results and Conclusion: The prevalence of hypertension was 15.5%; the disease was seen in men more than women (17.2% versus 14.5%); hypertension was often seen in the elderly (over 60 years old was 60.6%); blood pressure increasing along with advanced age. Only 39.4% of adults were aware of their hypertension and 43.5% of individuals with hypertension were on treatment. Salt intake, stress, obesity, rate of abdomen/rump dimensions were related with hypertension (odd ratio: 1.7: 1.6: 1.7; p<0.05). Some habits such as drinking alcohol and smoking had a risk of hypertension, however, there was no statistically significant difference (p>0.05). Dyslipidemia and diabetes were risk factors of hypertension.

As authorities braced for the arrival of the Omicron variant of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), infrastructure investments and government directives prompted action in central Viet Nam to establish capacity for genomic surveillance sequencing. From 17 November 2021 to 7 January 2022, the Pasteur Institute in Nha Trang sequenced 162 specimens from 98 150 confirmed SARS-CoV-2 cases in the region collected from 8 November to 31 December 2021. Of these, all 127 domestic cases were identified as the B.1.617.2 (Delta) variant, whereas 92% (32/35) of imported cases were identified as the B.1.1.529 (Omicron) variant, all among international flight passengers. Patients were successfully isolated, enabling health-care workers to prepare for additional cases. Most (78%) of the 32 Omicron cases were fully vaccinated, suggesting continued importance of public health and social measures to control the spread of new variants.
