Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(43):7039-7046
BACKGROUND:In recent years, prolift mesh pelvic materials have been widely used in the pelvic floor reconstruction. Scholars have been exploring the advantages and disadvantages of the prolift mesh pelvic reconstruction and the traditional hysterectomy for pelvic floor reconstruction.
OBJECTIVE:To systemical y assess prolift mesh pelvic reconstruction versus traditional hysterectomy for pelvic floor reconstruction.
METHODS:Wanfang, VIP, PubMed, Medline databases were searched for randomized control trials (RCTs) related to the clinical effectiveness of prolift mesh pelvic reconstruction versus traditional hysterectomy for pelvic floor reconstruction published from 1996 to 2014. Meta analysis of acquired data was performed through the use of RevMan5.2 software.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Nine RCTs involving 780 patients were included. Of the 780 patients, 398 received prolift mesh pelvic reconstruction and 382 underwent traditional hysterectomy. Compared with, prolift mesh pelvic reconstruction was superior to the traditional hysterectomy group in terms of operative time, intraoperative bleeding, hospitalization duration, evacuation time, postoperative body temperature, and cure rate of 18 months (P<0.05). However, there were no significant differences in the post-void residual volume, recurrence rate, the cure rate of 6 months and 12 months, quality of sexual life after 1 year postoperatively (P>0.05). These results reveal that the prolift mesh pelvic reconstruction exhibits better short-term effects on the pelvic floor dysfunction, but its long-term effects need to be further verified.

Recently, there are many prominent problems about the quality ofIndigo Naturalis. To explore the underlying reasons, both ancient and modern herbal literatures were reviewed. Through the organization of recordings onIndigo Naturalis, the traditional process method required soaking and fermentation, stiring and depositing, foaming and shade drying. The currently usedIndigo Naturalis was mostly isolated and purified from crude deposit -“Cu-Dian.” The modern process technique ofIndigo Naturalis was gradually deviated from the traditional processing method. This paper also discussed the quality standards ofIndigo Naturalis. The author considered that the current standard on descriptions ofIndigo Naturalis characteristics was deviated from the traditional morphological features ofIndigo Naturalis, which should be further researched and verified. Therefore, this study provided certain references for the quality control and market supervision ofIndigo Naturalis.

Objective To investigate changes in serum levels of antinuclear antibody(ANA), anti?double?stranded DNA(dsDNA)antibody and anti?extractable nuclear antigen(ENA)antibody before and after anti?tumor necrosis factor?α(TNF?α)therapy in psoriatic patients. Methods Clinical data obtained from 32 patients with psoriasis were analyzed retrospectively. Of the 32 patients, 13 received intravenous injection of 5 mg/Kg infliximab at week 0, 2, 6 for 3 sessions, then once every 8 weeks(infliximab group), while other 19 received subcutaneous injection of 25 mg etanercept twice every week(etanercept group). The treatments in the 2 groups both lasted more than 3 months. Serum levels of ANA, anti?dsDNA antibody and anti?ENA antibody and changes of clinical symptoms were detected and observed respectively before each treatment in the infliximab group, as well as every 3- 6 months in the etanercept group. The 75%reduction in psoriasis area and severity index(PASI75)and disease activity score of 28 joints(DAS28) were used to evaluate clinical efficacy. Serum levels of ANA, anti?dsDNA antibody and anti?ENA antibody were measured by indirect immunofluorescence(IIF)assay, Western blot analysis combined with enzyme?linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA), and Western blot analysis, respectively. Results After 3?month treatment, the 32 patients achieved clinical remission to different extents. Of 32 patients receiving anti?TNF?αtherapy, 7(21.9%)developed new autoantibodies. Concretely speaking, 4 patients in the infliximab group developed autoantibodies in 8.3 ± 5.1 months, including 3 cases positive for ANA and 3 for anti?ENA antibody. Three patients in the etanercept group developed autoantibodies in 9.0 ± 3.0 months, including 3 cases positive for ANA and 1 for anti?ENA antibody. Conclusion Partial patients with psoriasis may develop autoantibodies after anti?TNF?αtherapy.

Objective To examine the prevalence of and risk factors for syphilis among men who have sex with men (MSM) in 16 cities/districts, 6 provinces in China. Methods Based on a previous survey on the entertainment place and population size of MSM, a cross-sectional study was conducted in 2007 using non-probability sampling method among MSM in 16 cities/districts in China.Information about the demography, risk behavior and syphilis infection was collected through questionnaires from MSM. Univariate and multivariate stepwise logistic regression model was constructed to evaluate independent factors associated with syphilis. Results A total of 4211 participants were recruited. The mean age of these participants was 28 years. Among them, 66.7% were self identified as homosexual, 72.5% were unmarried, and 76.4% had an education beyond senior middle school; in the past 6 months, 8.7% had sexual contact with more than 10 male sex partners, 5.6% had ever paid for male sex service, 11.3% had provided commercial sex service to males, and 18.9% had sexual contact with females, while condom was consistently used in only 36.3% of male-to-male anal sexual behavior. Syphilis was diagnosed in 10.6% of these participants. The risk factors independently associated with syphilis included being older than 25 years (adjusted OR = 1.7; 95% CI:1.3-2.0), local residency (adjusted OR = 1.3; 95% CI: 1.0-1.7), being recruited from a bar or a park (adjusted OR = 1.3; 95% CI: 1.1-1.7), having ever paid for a male sex service(adjusted OR = 1.5; 95% CI: 1.0-2.1),inconsistent condom use during male-to-male anal sexual behavior(adjusted OR = 1.2; 95% CI: 1.0-1.5 ), self reported sexually transmitted infection history (adjusted OR = 1.3; 95% CI: 1.0-1.7). Conclusions There is a high prevalence of syphilis in MSM in the 16 Chinese cities where male-to-male commercial sex service and unsafe sexual behavior are common. Further efforts are urgently needed to scale-up the prevention of and treatment program for syphilis among MSM, which should include syphilis and HIV screening as well as education on the use of condom.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the performance of a new highly efficient and environment-friendly tissue cell fixatives for preserving the morphologies and properties of pleural and peritoneal effusions.
METHODSFifty-six specimens of tissue cells from pleural and peritoneal effusions were preserved using the new preservative or 95% ethanol. HE staining and Western blotting were employed to detect the morphologies and protein expression levels of CK, CEA and P53 of the cells after fixation.
RESULTSThe new preservative well preserved the morphologies of the cells from the pleural and peritoneal effusions, and the nuclei and cytoplasm were intact with little debris. The conventional preservative (95% ethanol) caused noticeable structural damage of the tissue cells, especially the cytoplasm where obvious debris were seen after fixation. CK, CEA and P53 protein expression levels in the cells were 91%, 86% and 88% after fixation with the new preservative, significantly higher than those (46%, 38% and 31%, respectively) in cells fixed with 95% ethanol (P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe new preservative is efficient and environment-friendly for preserving the morphologies as well as the proteins of tissue cells from pleural and peritoneal effusions well, demonstrating its potential in tissue cell fixation and preservation.

Objective To explore the correlation between endocrine therapy adherence and illness perception (IP) in breast cancer patients. Methods From January to June 2017, a total of 100 breast cancer patients treated in Oncology Department at a Class Ⅲ Grade A hospital in Daqing City of Heilongjiang Province were selected as subjects by convenience sampling. The endocrine therapy adherence and IP of patients were investigated with the breast cancer endocrine therapy adherence questionnaire and Brief Illness Perception Questionnaire (BIPQ). Pearson correlation and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the correlation between them. Results A total of 98 valid questionnaires were collected totally. Except for entry 3, 6 and 7, the scores on entries and total score of IP of patients were positively correlated with the endocrine therapy adherence (P<0.05). Except for entry 7, score of each entry and total score all entered the regression equation of adherence. Conclusions The IP of breast cancer patients has a correlation with the endocrine therapy adherence. We should raise the level of positive IP of patients by positive direction and intervention so as to improve endocrine therapy adherence of patients.
