AIM: To investigate the extraction of anti-thrombotic contituent from Earthworm ( Pheretima). METHODS: The prothrombin time (PT)of rabbit blood and antithrombin of 14 samples that were extracted by different methods were determined in vitro. RESULTS: The sample that was percolated with 70% alcohol and the sample that was extracted by semi-bionic method were better than ones that were extracted by other methods. CONCLUSION: It is a simple and practicable method to percolate Earthworm with 70% alcohol.

Objective To investigate the invasion ability and collagenolytic activity of human glioma cells in vitro.Methods Boyden chamber invasion assay was employed to evaluate the cell migration ability of human malignant glioma cell line U87MG in vitro and the effect of conditioned medium of U87MG cells on matrix collagenolytic activity was tested by agar-gelatin gel.Results The number of U87MG glioma cells migrating through the Matrigel-coated membrane was more than that of addition of EDTA or anti-MMP-2 antibody in U87MG glioma cells(P0.05).EDTA or anti-MMP-2 antibody markedly inhibited the number of the migrated cells,the inhibitory rates were 79.2% and 77.1%,respectively. The conditioned medium collected from the U87MG cells showed an increase in the transparent ring area on agar-gelatin gel.Inhibition of MMP-2 enzymatic activity by EDTA or anti-MMP-2 antibody reduced the transparent ring area on agar-gelatin gel.Conclusion Both invasion ability and collagenolytic activity of U87MG cells are depended on MMP-2,suggesting that MMP-2 plays an important role in glioma invasiveness.

SF-36 scale has been widely accepted because of its objectivity and scientificity. However, until now its application in TCM treatment for rheumatoid arthritis is not common. This article discussed the significance of SF-36 scale as the main content of life quality assessment in the efficacy evaluation system of TCM treatment for rheumatoid arthritis, which can provide certain references for the promotion of the application in this field.

Objective To explore the application value of hysteroscopy in recurrent implantation failure ,and discuss what was the best time to transfer embryos after the operation .Methods The patients who had undergone two or more failed IVF-ET cycles were separated into two groups .The patients of group A ( n=210) received hysteroscopy , and the patients of group B ( n=71) did not receive hysteroscopy evaluation .Intrauterine lesions diagnosis were trea-ted during the procedure .Patients without intrauterine pathologies were given slight curettage .The recurrent IVF-ET were performed after the procedure .Then we analyzed the clinical pregnancy rate of the two groups and determined the best time to transfer embryos after the operation.Results In group A,57 patients were pregnant.In group B, 8 patients were pregnant .There was a significant difference in the clinical pregnancy rates between the two groups (χ2 =7.52,P<0.01).In the pregnant patients of group A ,about 94.7%were pregnant in 6 months after hysterosco-py.Conclusion The patients with recurrent IVF -ET transfer failure should be evaluated prior to commencing IVF-ET cycle to improve the clinical pregnancy rate .It is better to transfer embryos within 6 months after hysteroscopy operation.

Objective To investigate the pH changes of arterial blood in patients with acute left heart failure.Methods Thirty-eight patients with acute left heart failure were selected as our subjects,who all underwent diuresis,the strong heart diuresis,dilation of blood vessels,reducing the load on the heart,and making water and electrolyte balance of conventional medication,and then parallel oxygen mask,respirator mode synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation(SIMV).If hypoxia was not significantly improved,and positive pressure ventilation with end expiratory(PEEP) treatment was conducted.Results After treatment,the level of pH,heart rate(HR),breathing rate(RR),arterial partial pressure of oxygen(PaO2),arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide(PaCO2) and mean arterial pressure(MAP) were (7.4 ± 0.3,86.3 ± 6.2) times/min,(22.5 ±4.8) times/min,(84.8 ±7.3) mmHg,(43.3 ±5.5) mmHg,(81.1 ±3.2) mmHg,different from those before treatment(7.1 ±0.1),(118.3 ±8.2) times/min,(36.2 ±7.1) times/min,(47.2 ±6.6) mmHg,(48.3 ±5.2) mmHg,(96.2 ±4.5) mmHg),and the differences were significant (t =5.848,19.188,9.854,23.552,4.072,16.857 respectively; P ＜ 0.01).With the progress of treatment,pH value and pHi value in patients showed a rising trend.Regression analysis showed a positive correlation and the regression equation was Y =-0.559 4 + 1.103 7X.Conclusion Patients with acute left heart failure show abnormal blood pH level and the corresponding change inside red blood cells.Then it causes changes in arterial blood oxygen carrying capacity of red blood cells,reduces the cell through the capillary capacity.Therefore,it can result in decrease of gas exchange levels in patients and hypoxia.Treatment should be considered imbalance the body of the improved state of acid-base.

[Objective]To report the initial outcomes of occipitocervical fixation using plate-rod-polyaxial screw system and investigate whether this new system offers any advantage over other existing methods of fixation.[Method]Fourteen cases(male 9,female 5)accepted cervicooccipital fixation with plate-rod-polyaxial screw system.There were 3 cases of odontoid dysplasia with dislocation;spinal canal tumor in 3;2 cases of metastatic carcinoma with pathologic fracture of C_1 and C_2,rheumatoid arthritis with cervicooccipital instability,and fasilar impression;burst fracture of C_1 with oecipital-atlantal-axial instability in 1.Twelve cases had neck pain.Thirteen cases had neurological deficits in different degrees.JOA score was 12.4 on average.[Result]The positions of all screws were good.There was no complication related to inserting screws.All neck pain released.Fourteen-months follow-up was obtained on average in 13 patients.Cervicooccipital nonunion was in one case and its occipital screws were pulled out.Twelve patients had satisfactory fixation and got firm fusion.Ameliotate rate of JOA score of the neurological function was 63.0%.[Conclusion]These initial data indicate that posterior occipitocervical fixation using plate-rod-polyaxial screw system is safe and reliable,and satisfactory clinical outcome can be obtained.The system appears to offer some advantages over other existing methods of fixation.

Objective:To explore the relationship of life events and internet use in junior high school students.Methods:123 7th grade students were asked to complete the Chinese Adolescent Life Events Checklist,Internet Service Preference Questionnaire for Adolescence and Adolescent Pathological Internet Use Scale.Results:Students' life events scores were lower than the norm significantly;Junior high school students' life events positively correlate with pathological internet use,as well as with salience,tolerance,compulsion symptoms,social comfort,and negative outcomes subscales;Internet service preference closely correlates with pathological internet use;Subjective stress,social preference of internet can predict pathological internet use significantly.Conclusion:Pathological internet use is closely related to life events and social service.

The recent studies have shown a significant relationship between persistent organichorine pollutants(POCPs) and semen quality. The biological characters and source of POCPs, the effect mechanisms of POCPs on semen quality, sperm structure and function were reviewed in this paper. The epidemiological evidences for the reproductive disturbance of men caused by POCPs were discussed and the research direction in the future was pointed out.

Objective To evaluate the primary outcomes of minimally invasive lumbar microdiscectomy. Methods There were 34 cases with single lumbar disc herniation treatment of tubular retractor access with METRx system and microdiscectomy(MMD group)and same cases with treatment of conventional discectomy(CD group).Operating time,blood loss,time of leaving the bed and length of hospital stay were compared in two groups.The postoperative wound pain was measured using a visual analog scale(VAS).The modified MacNab criteria were used to evaluate the outcomes. ResuIts The mean operating time was 65 min in MMD group,63 min in CD group.The mean blood loss was 34 ml in MMD group,85 ml in CD group.To compare in two groups,there was significant difference(P＜0.05).The mean time of leaving the bed after operation was 3.2 d in MMD group.5.8 d in CD group.The mean length of hospital stay was 5.8 d in MMD group.9.6 d in CD group.The mean VAS of the postoperative wound pain was 3.2 scores in MMD group,5.6 scores in CD group.To compare in two groups,there was significant difference(P＜0.05).There was one complication in MMD group,4 in CD group.Thirty-three cases got follow-up mean 8.5 months in MMD group.The success rate was 93.9%. Conclusion The minimally invasive lumbar microdiscectomy has the advantages on less trauma,safety,quickly postoperative recovery,and satisfactory outcomes.
