Liver cancer remains one of the leading cause of cancer death in the world.Animal models, especially mouse models, are important tools for studying the biological characteristics, pathogenesis, new drug screening and therapy of liver cancer.Up to now, although the development of various animal models accelerates the research of liver cancer, all the existing models have their own disadvantages.Lacking of economical and applicable animal models that can mimic the human liver cancer seriously restrict the further study of liver cancer. With the development of genetically modified technologies, it provides a fast, easy and reliable method to establish liver cancer models. In this review, we describe the different types of mouse models used in liver cancer research, with emphasis on genetically engineered mice used in this field, which may open an avenue for functional cancer genomics and generation of liver cancer models by using gene editing technologies.

Colorectal cancer is currently the third most common cancer worldwide, and there are still half of the patients undergoing recurrence and metastasis after surgical treatment,so it is necessary for colorectal cancer patients to receive radiation therapy routinely.Due to the side effects brought by radiotherapy,it is of great importance to solve how to minimize the radiation dose in radiation therapy and improve radiation sensitivity. In recent years, people discovered that microRNAs can not only be involved in the origins of colorectal cancer and progress, but also play a increasingly important role in cancer radiosensitivity.MicroRNAs can regulate tumor radiosensitivity by influencing tumor microenvironment and function on target genes.DNA damage response caused by radiation includes the activation of ATM,histone modification and chromatin remodeling, cell cycle arrest, damage repair and apoptosis.microRNAs can regulate tumor radiosensitivity through above processes. This review focuses on the mechanism of microRNAs in affecting DNA damage repair and prospects the future of microRNAs in influencing the sensitivity of cancer radiotherapy in clinical application.

AIM To observe the effects of the combination of heparinoid, aspirin and losartan on the experimental vascular intima hyperplasia induced by squeezing carotid artery in rats. METHODS Rats except the normal control group were under operation after two days oral administration once a day. At the second hour after injury, blood coagulation time(CT), time of arterial thrombus formation by electrical stimulus(ATFTES) and the level of TXB_2 in plasma were measured. At the fourteenth day after the surgery, the following indexes were examined: intima/media ratio, intima area ratio, PDGF-B and PCNA immunohistochemistry in carotid artery. RESULTS CT, TATFES increased and the level of TXB_2 decreased in the groups of Hep, Asp and Hep+Asp. The PDGF-B content, the positive ratio of PCNA and the inti- ma/media ratio also decreased in the groups of Hep, Asp, Los, Hep+Asp, Hep+Los and Asp+Los. Compared with single drug or two drugs combination, PDGF-B, positive ratio of PCNA, intima/media ratio and intima area ratio decreased significantly in the group of three drugs combination( P
4.Role of interleukin-6 in ocular inflammatory diseases
International Eye Science 2023;23(5):774-777
Interleukin-6(IL-6)is a pleiotropic cytokine produced by monocytes, macrophages, T lymphocytes and other cell types. It is significantly up-regulated in the process of infection and inflammation, and is the core cytokine of the host's defense against environmental stresses(such as injury and infection). Abnormal and persistent IL-6 production is closely associated with the development of various autoimmune and inflammatory diseases. A growing number of studies have shown that IL-6 plays a critical role in ocular inflammation and angiogenesis in the conjunctiva, cornea, uvea and retina. Blockade of IL-6 ameliorates chronic and refractory intraocular inflammation. This article aims to review the role as well as the mechanism of IL-6 in ocular inflammatory diseases, attempting to have a deep and systematic understanding of the role of IL-6 in ocular inflammatory diseases.

OBJECTIVETo study Chrysanthemum morifolium dry matter accumulation and absorption characteristics of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium at different growth stages.
METHODThrough the field experiment and the sampling analysis, the absorbing capacity of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium as well as the growth of plant at different growth stages in Ch. morifolium were analyzed.
RESULTThe dry matter accumulation reached 70.4% of the total accumulation within 60-150 days after transplantation. Dry matter mainly distributed in leaf within 60 days after transplantation, the distribution ratio in the stem was higher than that in leaf within 60-150 days after transplantation, the highest distribution ratio was the flower, and the second was the root within 150-210 days after transplantation. The accumulative capacity of N, P and K by Ch. morifolium was lower within 45 days after transplantation, which only accounted for 16.14%, 13.39% and 10.19% of total absorptive capacity, respectively. But it increased rapidly within 45-150 days after transplantation, which accounted for 71.86%, 63.81% and 62.94% respectively. The nitrogen accumulation was slower, while the accumulation of phosphorus and potassium was increased rapidly, within 150-210 days after transplantation. The distribution ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium was different within different organs in different growth stages. The distribution ratio of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium was mainly distributed in stem and leaf, within 150 days after transplantation, then transferring to the flower and root, the transferring efficiency was N > P > K.
CONCLUSIONthe absorption capacity of K was the highest, followed by N and P. The N : P205 : K2O ratio was 1 : 0.88 : 1.58. Correlation analysis showed that dry matter accumulation and nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium accumulation correlated positively. For producing 1g dry matter, Ch. morifolium needed to absorb 5.198 1 mg N, 4.329 5 mg P205 and 7.138 5 mg K20 from soil and fertilizer.

Objective To investigate the effects of lipoxygenase inhibitor NDGA on expression of 5-LOX and its apoptosis related genes in HepG2 cell line. Methods The expression of 5-LOX and apoptosis related genes hTERT,bcl-2 and bax mRNA was determined by reverse transcriptasepolymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).Results After 25,50,100,200 μmol/L NDGA treatment for24,48 h,the expression of 5-LOX of HepG2 cell decreased, but the expression of bax was up-regulated and the expressions of bcl-2 and hTERT mRNA were down-regulated,(P<0.05 compared with the control group). The decrease in the expression of 5-LOX,hTERT and bcl-2 in HepG2 cell was negtively correlated with the dose duration of action of NDGA.Conclusion In vitro,5-LOX is expressed highly in HepG2 cell.Overexpression of 5-LOX may be related to the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma,NDGA can significantly decrease the expression of 5-LOX,up-regulate of bax and downregulation of bcl-2 and telomerse.Lipoxygenase might be a novel therapeutic target for the hepatocellular carinoma.

Objective To verify whether the periodic or continuous exposure to high glucose may have different effects on human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC)apoptosis, and to explore the effect of NF-κB pathway on apoptosis of HUVEC induced by high glucose using the RNAi adenovirus vector. Methods RNAi combinant adenovirus vector which targeted 1566 site of NF-κB p65 mRNA was constructed and the effect of p65 gene knockdown in HUVEC was detected by Western blot analysis. Then, the RNAi adenovirus was transducted to explore the role of NF-κB pathway on the regulation of apoptosis in HUVEC induced by high glucose. The apoptosis of HUVEC was tested by flow cytometry and TUNEL assay. Results High glucose could induce apoptosis of HUVEC. p65 protein expression of nuclear extracts was significantly increased in high glucose culture as compared to control group, but only slightly increased in NF-κB-specific knockdown group, which maintained at basal state. Compared with normal glucose group, the number of TUNEL-positive cells in high glucose group was significantly increased (25.81%±1.77% vs 8.20%±0.63%, P<0.05). The number of TUNEL-positive cells was decreased in 30.5 rmnol/L glucose plus Ad-1566 than that in 30.5 mmol/L glucose plus Ad-DEST (11.49%±0.92% vs 26.10%±0.98%, P<0.01). Flow cytometry and TUNEL assay showed that the apoptosis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells induced by high glucose was inhibited by the RNAi adenovirus. Conclusion High glucose induces apoptosis of HUVEC. Knockdown of NF-κB p65 may protect HUVEC from apoptosis by preventing high glucose-induced NF-κB nuclear translocation.

In order to study the effect of seed soaking with different aluminum solution on seed germination and seedling physiological characteristics of Platycondon grandiflorum, two P. grandiflorum varieties'seed (the white flower and the purple flower) were soaked in Al3+ solution with different concentrations (0, 10, 100, 250, 500, 750 and 1000 mg x L) for 24 h, then germinated in illumination incubator. Results showed that the aluminum toxicity on the trends of the germination rate, germination index and vigor index was positive associated with its concentration, and the Al tolerance of the purple was slightly greater than that of the white. There were some relationships between the physiological indices, which were the leakage rate of electrolyte, the malonaldehyde (MDA) content, the activities of peroxidase (POD) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) , the free praline(Pro) and the soluble sugar contents, with the concentrations of Al. It was suggested that there was Al tolerance difference between the two P. grandiflorum varieties: the purple flower was greater than the white.
