Objective To observe the results of multifocal visual evoked potential (mfVEP) examination in patients with anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (AION) before and ater treatment,and to probe its clinical significance.Methods A total of 90 patients (90 eyes) with AION were examined by mfVEP;the second-order reaction of mfVEP was analyzed.The reaction was divided into upper and lower hemi-field of visual field,or 1 / 4 quadrant visual field (superior nasal,inferior nasal,superior temporal,and inferior temporal).The sum of waves of each response was analyzed and the results in various regions were compared.The features of wave configuration was compared between the AION eyes and the contralateral eye,and between the AION eyes before and after treatment.Results The amplitude and latency of P-wave of mfVEP was 0.198±0.033 and 100.197±7.354 respectively in AION eyes before treatment,and was 0.271±0.024 and 98.567±6.794 in the contralateral eyes;the difference was significant (t=16.556,18.330;P＜0.01).The amplitude and latency of P-wave of mfVEP was 0.229±0.016 and 100.104±10.603 respectively in AION eyes after treatment,which differed much from that before the treatment (t=13.649,8.858;P＜0.01) and also from that of the contralateral eyes (t=13.649,8.858;P＜0.01).Conclusions The amplitude and latency of P-wave of mfVEP may accurately reflect the recovery of local optic nerve damage in AION eyes before and after treatment with good repeatability.AION can be used as a new method for AION diagnosis and detection of the prognosis.

Objective Angiotensin(AngⅡ)is an important proinflammatory mediator in the cardiovascular system.The present study is aimed at investigating the correlation between ceramide and p53 and apoptosis of human umbilical endothelial cells induced by AngⅡ.Methods Human umbilical endothelial cells were cultured in vitro and treated with AngⅡalone or in combination with Losartan(an in- hibitor of AT1),PD123319(an inhibitor of AT2),FB1(an inhibitor of ceramidase),PFT-?(an inhibitor of p53),respectively.The ap- optosis of cells was detected with TUNEL,and p53 expression at protein and mRNA was assessed with Western blotting and reverse tran- scription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results Compared to AngⅡgroup,PD123319 and FB1 could inhibit endothelial cells ap- optosis induced by AngⅡat 24h;hut Losartan and PFT-?could not.Compared to the control group,no statistical difference existed be- tween PD123319 and FB1,but it did exist between Losartan and PFT-?.FB1 and PFT-?down-regulated the p53 expression at the protein and mRNA levels.Conclusion In the process of apoptosis induced by AngⅡ,AngⅡcan induce the activation of ceramide by binding with AT2.AT2 and Ceramide play a key role in the endothelial cells apoptosis induced by AngⅡ.Ceramide may be situated in the upper stream of p53 and induce the apoptosis by p53 pathway.

Objective To understand the malignancy hospitalization expense of malignancy in Shanxi Cancer Hospital and provide a reference for the effective control of hospitalization expense.Methods 89 716 malignancy hospitalization cases in Shanxi Cancer Hospital from 2003 to 2010 were reviewed.Hospital costs of top six malignant tumors were analyzed.Results The hospitalization expense of 6 kinds of malignancy increased in varying degrees.In all cancer patients,the top six number of cases were lung cancer,cervical cancer,stomach cancer,breast cancer,esophageal cancer and colon cancer,there were a total of 89 716 passengers.The growth rate of cervix malignancy' s expense was the fastest.Conclusion Malignancy hospitalization is expensive,comprehensive measures need to be used to control the expense and make full use of health resources.

Objective To investigate the effects of serum levels of leptin, IGF-1, BDNF and inflammatory markers in patients with post-stroke depression(PSD). Methods By using Hamilton rating scale for depression (HAMD) ,46 patients with post-stroke depression were recruited and 50 patients without depression as the control group. Two weeks after the onset of stroke, serum levels of leptin, insulin growth factor(IGF-1), hs-CRP, intracellular adhesion molecule (ICAM-1) and brain-derived neurotrophic factors (BDNF) were measured by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay(ELISA). Results The levels of leptin and IGF-1 in patients with PSD were significantly higher than that of the control group (( 57.4 ± 14.32) ng/ml vs (17.53 ± 11.62) ng/ml, P = 0. 002;(120.86 ±28.66) ng/ml vs (66.5 ± 17.51) ng/ml, P=0. 004 respectively). The serum levels of leptin and IGFI were positively correlated with the HAMD score(r=0. 724, P＜0. 01; r=0. 641, P＜0. 01 respectively). There was no significant differences in the levels of hs-CRP((2.3 ±0.42) mg/dl vs (2.2 ± 0.28) mg/dl, P= 0. 767),ICAM-1 (( 182.6 ± 50.27) ng/ml vs (178.7 ± 51.14) ng/ml, P = 0. 812) and BDNF(( 25.8 ± 8.35) ng/ml vs (24.2 ±7.48)ng/ml, P = 0.580)in the two groups. Conclusion The serum levels of leptin and IGF-1 may be associated with post-stroke depression and may be the markers of PSD in the old stroke patients.

Objective To research and analyze about the quality of life of patients after liver or kid-ney transplantation and return to work aiming at understanding the influence of return to work on their quality of life. Methods The general condition questionnaire and the generic quality of life inventory- 74 (GQOLI-74) were used to survey the quality of life of 30 patients who returned to work after liver or kidney transplantation (the experimental group), the results were compared with 30 cases of the same kinds who did not return to work (the control group). The influence of return to work after liver or kidney transplanta-tion on quality of life was analyzed. Results The total score of quality of life,the score of every dimension and factor were higher in the experimental group than those in the control group. Conclusions Return to work contributes to improvement of quality of life for patients after liver or kidney transplantation.

Objective To study the effect of angiotensinⅡ(AngⅡ) on apoptosis in endothelial cells(EC). Methods Human umbilical endothelial cells were cultured in vitro and treated with AngⅡ in various concentrations alone and in combination with fumonisin B1(FB1, an inhibitor of ceramidase). TUNEL was employed to determine the apoptosis of the cultured EC. The bax mRNA and protein levels of EC were detected by RT-PCR and Western-blot techniques. Results The results showed that the number of apoptotic cells was significantly higher in AngⅡ-treated endothelium than in the control group(P0.05). Conclusion AngⅡ may induce apoptosis of endothelial cells via ceramide and up-regulating the bax mRNA and protein expression. Ceramide is the upper stream of bax and induces apoptosis by bax pathway.
