Objective To explore the clinical manifestation, imaging features, histopathological classifications and treatment of primary orbital tumors. Methods Twenty-six cases with primary orbital tumors were retrospectively studied. Results All of 26 primary orbital tumor cases received surgical treatment.Sixteen primary orbital tumors cases were male and 10 cases were female. The mean age was 46 years (ranged from 15 to 72).The mean hospital stay was 13 d (ranged from 9 to 21).Among 26 primary orbital tumors cases,21 cases were benign tumors which included 11 cases of cavernous hemangioma,5 cases of inflammatory pseudotumor,3 cases of dermoid cyst,2 cases of venous angioma.Five cases were malignant tumors which included 4 cases of adenoid cystic carcinoma and 1 case of rhabdomyosarcoma. After operation, visual acuity improved in 9 cases, unchanged in 11 cases, decreased in 6 cases. The patients were followed up for 18-48 months (mean,25 months). There were 4 cases of malignant tumors recurrence after operation and received radical operation. While 2 patients were lost, the other 24 patients survived with tumor-free.Conclusions Surgical excision is the main and effective treatment for primary orbital tumors. To be very familiar with the imaging characteristics and local anatomy is the key for operation.Individualized treatment plan should be chosen based on clinical manifestation, imaging features and histopathological classifications.

Journal of Clinical Pediatrics 2014;(2):126-130
Objectives To analyze the risk factors associated with infant wheezing in Zhongshan city. Methods A multi-center, large sample of case-control study was applied and the data related to risk factors was collected by questionnaire survey. T test and chi-square test were firstly used for univariate analysis, and then the multivariate stepwise logistic regression was used to analyze the independent risk factors associated with infant wheezing. Results A total of nine factors were found rele-vant to infant wheezing by univariate analysis including parental allergic history, way of birth, respiratory syncytial virus infec-tion, Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection, personal allergic history, like crying, parents have constant disagreements, home near the road, and factory around (P<0.05). Parental allergic history (OR=3.441, 95%CI:1.914-6.186, P<0.001), respiratory syncy-tial virus infection (OR=2.910, 95%CI:1.793-4.723, P<0.001), Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection (OR=2.277,95%CI:1.110-4.667, P=0.025), home near the road (OR=2.036, 95%CI:1.280-3.239, P=0.003) and like crying (OR=1.521, 95%CI:1.049-2.206, P=0.027) were approved to be the independent risk factors of infant wheezing in ZhongShan. Conclusions Nine factors have relationship with infant wheezing, including parental allergic history, respiratory syncytial virus infection, Mycoplasma pneumoniae infection, home near the road, like crying, personal allergic history, and that the former five factors are the indepen-dent risk factors.

Objective This article is to discuss the best injection time after alcohol disinfection during the prophylactic immunization, provide theoretical support to guarantee the effect of disinfection in practical work, also guarantee the effect of vaccination especially for the vaccination of attenuated live vaccine at the same time reduce the side effect in disinfection. Methods Choosing the vaccination objects as experimental subject, each period contained 40 people, who were named as group A,B,C,D,E,with a total of 200 people.Using sterile cotton swab sampling and agar plate cultivation method, counting bacteria.Selecting vaccine either in liquid or in lyophilized form, counting the time of picking up the vaccine, dissolving it,suction and preparing the injector. Results After alcohol disinfection, there was 1 person and 1 colony growth in group A within 25 s.There were 1 person and 4 colonies growth in group B within 40 s.There were 3 persons and 3 to 12 colonies growth in group C within 60 s,there were 5 persons and 2 to 8 colonies growth in group D within 80 s,there were 8 persons and 3 to 13 colonies growth in group E within 100 s.The difference between group A,B,C and D was not statistically significant. All four groups mentioned above had significant difference compared with group E.The time of whole process for vaccine either in liquid or in lyophilized form was 1.05 min and 29 s.Conclusions During vaccine injection, especially injectable attenuated live vaccine,it is safe time to finish injecting within 25 to 45 seconds. In the operating process of vaccine inoculation, the freeting and drying dosage-form vaccine, the operation sequence must be set as dissolve the seedlings, disinfection, checkup information again and injections. For water dosage-form vaccine, the operation sequence is to disinfection, pulling out seedlings, checkup information again and injections.

Objective To investigate the relationship of circulating zinc-α2-glycoprotein (ZAG) as well as adiponectin with adiposity and insulin resistance in humans. Methods Serum ZAG and adiponectin levels were determined by ELISA in 285 subjects with normal glucose tolerance (NGT),impaired glucose tolerance (IGT),and newly diagnosed cases with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM).The relationships between circulating ZAG and insulin resistance or metabolic parameters were also explored. Results Circulating ZAG and adiponectin levels were all lower in T2 DM and IGT subjects than those in control subjects [ZAG:(37.14 ± 13.25 and 48.84 ± 18.74 vs 59.36 ± 16.20) mg/L,P<0.05 or P<0.01 ; adiponectin:(27.79 ± 11.23 and 33.00 ± 9.42 vs 41.81 ± 13.68) μg/L,P<0.01].Circulating ZAG was correlated positively with high density lipoprotein-cholesterol and adiponectin (all P<0.01),and inversely with body mass index,waist-hip ratio,FAT%,diastolic blood pressure, triglyceride, fasting blood glucose, fasting insulin,HbA1C,and homeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance(HOMA-IR,P<0.05 or P<0.01).By multivariate analysis,ZAG levels were independently associated with body mass index,HOMA-IR,diastolic blood pressure, and adiponectin (P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusions ZAG levels, associated with fat, insulin sensitivity, and adiponectin expression, are likely to play an important role in insulin resistance and energy homeostasis in humans.
