Objective To study the efficacy of intravitreous injection (IVI) or sub-Tenaninfusion (STi) of triamcinolone acetonide (TA) for diabetic macular oedema. Design Retrospective cases series. Participants 37 cases (37 eyes) with diabetic macular oedema confirmed by fundus fluorescence angiography (FFA) and optical coherence tomography (OCT). Methods Patients were received 4mg TA by single intravitreous injection or 40mg TA by three times sub-Tenoninfusion at 0d, 2w, 4w. The best corrected visual acuity, fundus examination, intraocular pressure, fundus fluorescence angiography were further analyzed, and the retinal thickness of macular fovea were measured by OCT. Main Outcome Measures The visual acuity, thickness of retinal macular fovea, ocular pressure was measured. Results 32 cases (32 eyes) completed the 24 week followed-up. In group IVI, the visual acuity before and after injection was 0.10±0. 03, 0.24±0.06(F=15.459, P=0.000) respectively; and retinal thickness of macular fovea is(460.73±46.33)μm,(394.53±41.43)μm (F=25. 282, P=0.0000) respectively. But in group STi, the visual acuity before and after injection is 0.11±0.04, 0.18±0.07(F=6.989, P=0.000) accordingly; and retinal thickness of maculur fovea is (454.76±56.28)μm,(424.94±42.69)μm (F=5.145, P=0.000) respectively. There was obvious statistical significance between two methods at same time point(all P<0.05). The serious, irreversible complications had not been found in all patients during follow-up. Conclusion Triamcinolone acetonide by single intravitreous injection or repeatedly sub-Tenoninfasion are good ways to relieve diabetic macular oederna, IVA-TA is more effective, and STi-TA safer. Objective To investigate the effect of electroacupuncture on acupoint local extracellular ionized atom concentrations under physiological status and provide a basis for exploring the mechanism of action of electroacupuncture. Method Twenty male SD rats were selected. Rat point Zusanli (ST36) was given electroacupuncture (1 mA, 0.2 ms and 2 Hz) for 60 min. Meanwhile, local tissue fluid was collected at point Zusanli and non-acupoints using a microdialyzer. The collection by molecular probe membrane sampling lasted 4 hrs: 60 min physiological status before electroacupuncture, 60 min electroacupuncture, 60 min after electroacupuncture and 120 min after electroacupuncture. Real-time analysis of the sample was made by electrolyte analysis to observe local changes in concentrations of Ca﹢﹢, K﹢, Na﹢and Cl- at point Zusanli. Result Local Ca﹢﹢concentrations at point Zusanli increased significantly during electroacupuncture (P=0.003, vs before electroacupuncture), rose gradually afterwards and reached the peak at 60 min after electroacupuncture (P=0.75, vs during electroacupuncture). Ca﹢﹢concentrations decreased at 120 min after electroacupuncture; there was a statistically significant difference comparedwith during electroacupuncture (P=0.04). Acupoint local extracellular concentrations of Na ﹢ and Cl- also increased significantly during electroacupuncture (P<0.001, P=0.007, vs before electroacupuncture) but decreased gradually during 60 min after electroacupuncture and to (71.81±15.09) mmol/L and (57.42±14.30) mmol/L, respectively, at 60 min after electroacupuncture (P=0.09, P=0.07 vs during electroacupuncture). Acupoint extracellular K ﹢concentrations had a tendency similar to those of Na﹢and Cl- but there was no statistically significant difference. Non-point electroacupuncture slightly increased extracellular concentrations of Ca﹢﹢, K﹢, Na﹢and Cl- but there were no statistically significant differences compared with before electroacupuncture (P>0.05). Conclusion Rat point Zusanli electroacupuncture can induce significant increases in acupoint local extracellular concentrations of Ca﹢﹢, K﹢, Na﹢and Cl- . Ionized atom concentrations decrease in different degrees after electroacupuncture. These provide an experimental basis for studying the physiological mechanism of electroacupuncture treatment.

Traditional Chinese medicine Curcuma Zedoary ( E'Zhu) contains essential oil, curcuminoid and other effective constituents, with such pharmacological actions as anti-platelet aggregation, lowing blood lipid, anti-oxidation and anti-inflammation. In recent years, studies have showed that certain extracts and chemical components of E'Zhu could mitigate myocardial cell mitochondria injury and protect vascular endothelium by enhancing heme oxygenase-1 activity, inhibit nuclear factor NF-kappaB, target genes interleukin-associated kinase-1 (IRAK-1), tumor necrosis factor receptor-6 (TRAF-6) and vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (VCAM-1), reduce inflammatory infiltration, and inhibit growth factor-induced smooth muscle cells (SMCs) proliferation and migration by impacting oxidation of cellular phosphatases. Due to its different functions in vascular endothelial cells and smooth muscle cells, E'Zhu has been applied in drug-eluting stents, with a potential effect in preventing in-stent restenosis and thrombogenesis. In this paper, studies on pharmacological effects and mechanisms of extracts and main chemical constituents from E'Zhu in preventing vascular restenosis were summarized.

Objective To conduct a Meta?analysis to compare the safety and short?term efficacy of laparoscopic assisted distal gastrectomy (LADG)and open distal gastrectomy(ODG)in D2 radical surgeries for locally advanced distal gastric cancer. Methods The literatures from Janurary,1990 to August,2014 on the evaluation of safety and short?term efficacy of LADG versus ODG in D2 radical surgeries for locally advanced distal gastric cancer were collected. The quality of the enrolled articles was evaluated and the software Revman 5.2 was adopted to analyze the cura?tive effect. Results Totally 25 articles met the inclusion criteria, including 5 044 patients with treatment of D2 radical surgeries for locally advanced distal gastric cancer. There was no significant difference in the cleaning number of lymph nodes between LADG and ODG in patients undergoing D2 radical surgeries for locally advanced distal gastric cancer. The operation time was longer for LADG than ODG,but the postoperative evaluation in?dexes such as the intraoperative blood loss and the short?term efficacy of LADG were superior to ODG. Conclusion In the treatment of locally ad?vanced distal gastric cancer, there were differences in the safety and short?term efficacy between LADG and ODG,and surgeons should give concern to these differences in clinical practice to select appropriate surgical approaches. Further research is still needed to explore the long?term efficacy.
