3.Application value of narrow band imaging endoscopy without magnification in the diagnosis of malignant laryngeal neoplasms
Chinese Archives of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery 2016;23(1):23-26
OBJECTIVE To investigate the value of narrow band imaging endoscopy without magnification in the diagnosis of malignant laryngeal lesions. METHODS A total of 425 patients diagnosed as laryngeal tumor from February 2013 to November 2014 were included in this study. All the cases were examined with electronic nasopharyngolaryngoscope equipped with NBI mode. The characteristics of mucosal morphology and superficial vessels of each lesion under NBI mode were evaluated for diagnosis and assessed by reference to histopathology. RESULTS The sensitivity, specificity, positive, predictive value and negative predictive value of NBI in diagnosis of malignant laryngeal lesions were 80.43%, 97.10%, 77.08% and 97.61%respectively. And NBI endoscopy is helpful to the detection of early cancer and precancerous lesions. CONCLUSION NBI endoscopy without magnification is a promising tool for improving the diagnosis of malignant laryngeal lesions.
4.Relationship between preoperative fibrinogen and prognosis of patients with colon cancer
Journal of Clinical Surgery 2015;(1):40-43
Objective To investigate the prognostic significance of preoperative fibrinogen levels and explore a new prognostic predictor for colon cancer patients. Methods From January 2007 to Decem-ber 2008,the clinical data of colon cancer patients with radical were reviewed retrospectively. Patients were divided into different groups according to BMI,tumor size, stage, differentiation degree, gross type, vascular infiltration,CEA and mGPS score. Differences in preoperative fibrinogen concentration and overall survival were compared between groups. Results A total of 255 patients were enrolled in this study, the mean pre-operative fibrinogen concentration of enrolled patients was(3. 17 ± 0. 88)g/ L. There were significant differ-ences in And preoperative fibrinogen concentration among patients with different tumor size,stage,differen-tiation degree, gross type, vascular infiltration,CEA and mGPS(P < 0. 05). Moreover, result of univariate analysis manifested that the level of preoperative fibrinogen concentration was associated with the overall survival rate. Conclusion Preoperative fibrinogen concentration is associated with the clinicopathologic features of patients with colon cancer, which can serve as a new prognostic marker for prognosis evaluation.
5.The dental occlusion as a suspected cause for TMDs:epidemiological and etiological considerations
Journal of Practical Stomatology 2015;(3):417-424
The relationship between the dental occlusion and temporomandibular disorders (TMDs)has been one of the most controversial topics in the dental community. In a large epidemiological cross-sectional survey-the Study of Health in Pomerania (Germany)-associations between 1 5 occlusion-related variables and TMD signs or symptoms were found. In other investigations, additional occlusal variables were i-dentified.However,statistical associations do not prove causality.By using Hill's nine criteria of causation,it becomes apparent that the evi-dence of a causal relationship is weak.Only bruxism, loss of posterior support and unilateral posterior crossbite show some consistency across studies. On the other hand, several reported occlusal features appear to be the consequence of TMDs,not their cause.Above all, however, biological plausibility for an occlusal aetiology is often difficult to establish, because TMDs are much more common among women than men. Symptom improvement after insertion of an oral splint or after occlusal adjustment does not prove an occlusal aetiology either, because the a-melioration may be due to the change of the appliance-induced intermaxillary relationship. In addition, symptoms often abate even in the ab-sence of therapy.Although patients with a TMD history might have a specific risk for developing TMD signs,it appears more rewarding to fo-cus on non-occlusal features that are known to have a potential for the predisposition, initiation or perpetuation of TMDs.
6.Comparative proteome research of epithelial cells and stroma from invasive ductal carcionma patients
Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2015;(5):697-703
Aim To study the difference of proteins expression of epithelial cells and stroma of breast canc-er patients. Methods Formalin-fixed paraffin-embed-ded tissue samples from invasive ductal carcionma pa-tients were stained by improved HE staining methods. And the neoplastic epithelium and stroma were micro-dissected using laser capture microdissection and ana-lysed by mass spectrometry. Results Total 43 1 differ-ent proteins were detected by mass spectrometry and there were respectively 384 and 298 different kinds of proteins identified in epithelial cells and stroma.A-mong them,25 1 proteins were commonly expressed in two samples, while the contents of 69 and 60 proteins in stroma were respectively higher or lower than the ones in epithelial cells. The expression level and local-ization of proteins identified in epithelial cells and stro-ma were associated with their roles in development and progression of tumor cells. Conclusions The differen-tial expression proteins between epithelial cells and stroma of invasive ductal carcionma patients may func-tion as biomarkers for breast cancer screenning,diag-nosis and prognosis.
7.Try to talk about knowledge yuan indexing in ancient books of traditional Chinese medicine clinical application of the literature indexing
International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2015;(4):296-298
Large number of TCM ancient books, the literature, has a long history and complicated contents, including the principles, methods, prescriptions, medicines and other various aspects. How to obtain and make use of knowledge in ancient books, we must establish a set of relatively precise knowledge and semantic relation networks. Knowledge yun performing reasonable rebuilding of TCM literature, containing much TCM knowledge and information, will be an important way for knowledge findings.
8.Comparison of low-versus high-intensity focused ultrasound in treating pain due to chronic soft tissue injury
Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 2015;35(7):815-818
Objective To compare the low-intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU) and high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) in treating pain due to chronic soft tissue injury. Methods Ninety-three patients with pain due to chronic soft tissue injury, aged 18-80 yr, with body mass index of 18-31 kg/m2,course of the disease 3 months-10 yr, and pain intensity of 4-8 in a numeric rating scale, were randomly divided into 2 groups using a random number table: low intensity group (group LI, n =49) and high intensity group (group HI, n =44).In group LI, the patients received LIFU with the minimum ultrasonic intensity causing senses (acid, hemp, swelling, pain) , and the treatment was continued for 10 min.In group HI, the patients received HIFU with the focused uhrasound intensity that could not be tolerated by the patients, the treatment was continued for 1 min each time and then suspended for 1 min, and the total time for treatment was 10 min.The patients received the treatment once a day, and the course of treatment was 5 days in both groups. When numeric rating scale score > 4 during the treatment, parecoxib sodium 40 mg was injected intramuscularly as rescue analgesic. Both the therapeutic index and improvement in movement were used to evaluate the therapeutic effect, and the quality of life and depression were assessed and scored. The treatment-related adverse events were also recorded. Results The total effective rate was 98% and 84% in LI and HI groups, respectively.Compared with group HI, the total effective rate was significantly increased, the quality of life score was increased, and no significant change was found in depression score in group LI.No patients used parecoxib sodium or developed treatment-related adverse events in group LI.One patient (2%) required parecoxib sodium, the incidence of skin burns, nerve damage and abnormal pain was 4%, 2% and 2%, respectively, and no patients developed tissue swelling in group HI.Conclusion LIFU has higher therapeutic effect than HIFU in treating pain due to soft tissue injury, and the safety is good.
