Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2016;20(12):1793-1799
BACKGROUND:Titanium materials have high mechanical strength, stable physical properties, good biocompatibility, and excelent corrosion resistance, which can be safely used in humans. OBJECTIVE:To compare the safety of mesh-like titanium aloy steel plateversus wire mesh in the repair of chest wal defects. METHODS:Eighteen patients with chest wal defects, 11 males and 7 females, with an age range of 19-65 years, were enroled. The 9 of 18 patients were subjected to repair with mesh-like titanium aloy steel plate, and the other 9 patients underwent wire mesh repair. At 1 week after repair, visual analog scale scores were measured in the two groups, and patient’s satisfaction on the thoracic appearance and incidence of complications were surveyed during the folow-up. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Al patients were folowed up for 1-7 years. During the folow-up, X-ray review displayed good thoracic stability and no fracture of titanium plate and wire mesh. Patients recovered wel from respiratory dysfunction, with unapparent chest wal deformity and high satisfaction rate of the thoracic appearance. Moreover, compared with the wire mesh group, the satisfaction rate of the thoracic appearance was significantly higher (P< 0.05), but the incidence of complications was significantly lower in the titanium plate group (P < 0.05). At 1 week after repair, the visual analog scale scores had no difference between the two groups (P> 0.05). These findings indicate that the mesh-like titanium plate has good biocompatibility and safety to effectively maintain the stability of the chest wal.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2006;10(38):174-176
BACKGROUND: With the development of thrombolysis therapy in recent years, there has been an increasing focus on the protective effect of ischemic reperfusion injury (IRI) and its mechanism at home and abroad, and aspirin is of great importance in the treatment of thrombus diseases owing to its powerful antiplatelet aggregative activity.OBJECTIVE: To explore the protective effect of aspirin on the gerbil brains with IRI and its influence on the intercellular adhesion molecule (ICAM) and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) expressions.DESIGN: A randomized controlled animal experiments.SETTING: Department of Neurology, Jinan Municipal Central Hospital,College of Clinical Medicine, Shandong University.MATERIALS: The experiment was performed at the Physiological Laboratory of Taishan Medical University from December 2001 to June 2002.Sixty-three healthy male gerbils of Mongolian specimen were randomly assigned into sham group, IRI group and aspirin group with 21 in each group. And each group was further divided into three subgroups according to the time after IRI: 24 hours, 3 days and 7 days, with 7 gerbils for each.METHODS: The models of global brain IRI were established by bilateral carotid artery occlusion. Sham group: The unfolded bilateral carotid artery was not occluded; IRI group: The unfolded bilateral carotid artery was occluded by bulldog clamp for 7 minutes, and then the blood circulation was recovered by removing the clamp. Aspirin group: Before the operation,50 mg/kg enteric-coated aspirin was infused via gastric canal. And the same procedures as IRI group were performed. The gastric infusion of aspirin was given daily until the gerbils were executed at 24 hours, 3 days and 7 days after IRI for brain tissue examinations. The immunohistochemistry SABC method was applied to detect the changes of ICAM 1 and CGRP expressions as well as the influence of aspirin on the two.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The expressions of ICAM and CGRP in brain tissues.RESULTS: A total of 63 gerbils were involved in the result analysis.①Changes of ICAM expression: In IRI group, the expression of ICAM began to increase at 24 hours after IRI,enhanced remarkably at 3 days and maintained at high levels at 7 days, with the significant difference compared with sham group [IRI group: (3.36±2.26)%, (5.68±3.13)%, (4.98±2.10)%; Sham group: (1.53±1.07)%, (1.56±1.23)%, (1.62±1.33)%, P < 0.05];However,the ICAM expression was significantly lower in aspirin group than in IRI group at different time points [(0.96±0.83)%, (2.76±2.10)%,(1.96±1.09)%, P < 0.05].②Changes of CGRP expression: At the different time points after IRI,the CGRP expression was weakly positive in IRI group [(3.12±2.26)%, (2.68±2.04)%, (2.57±1.97)%], but strongly positive in aspirin group [(4.98±2.47)%, (5.97±2.35)%, (6.04±2.40)%].CONCLUSION: IRI can increase the ICAM 1 expression while inhibit the CGRP expression; Aspirin can make great impacts on brain protection by inhibiting ICAM 1 expression and reinforcing the CGRP expression.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2013;(31):5652-5658
BACKGROUND:Al ogenic bone is a clinical commonly used bone graft material, but the osteoinductive capacity is the biggest problem. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effect of al ogeneic bone combined with autologous bone marrow stem cells on the repair of bone defects after scraping or resection of benign bone tumors and tumor-like lesions. METHODS:Sixty-five cases of benign bone tumors (including patients with tumor-like lesions) were divided into two groups according to bone graft. There were 35 cases in the composite bone marrow stem cells for bone graft group, and 20-40 mL red bone marrow were extracted from anterosuperior iliac spine or iliac spine on both sides according to the expected amount of bone graft, then the bone marrow stem cells were isolated, purified, cultured and amplified for standby, and the bone marrow stromal stem cells and al ogeneic bone particles were ful y blended before bong graft. After tumor scraping or resection, the blended bone marrow stromal stem cells and al ogeneic bone particles were implanted into the bone defect region. In the bone graft group, the bone defect was implanted with al ogeneic bone soaked with saline for half an hour. X-ray examination was performed at 1, 3, 6 and 12 months after treatment to compare the fuzzy boundary and the time for disappear, and the postoperative complications were observed. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Al the 62 patients were fol owed-up for more than 12 months. The fuzzy boundary time and disappear time in the composite bone marrow stem cells for bone graft group were shorter than those in the bone graft group (P<0.05). In the composite bone marrow stem cells for bone graft group, one case appeared rejection and healed after treated with immunosuppressive agents for 2 weeks, and no complication observed in two groups. The results indicate that al ogeneic bone composite autologous bone marrow stem cells for bone graft can promote bone fusion and bone defect healing.

BACKGROUND:With the wide application and in-depth research of artificial hip joint, more secondary fractures around femoral prosthesis are reported. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the reasons, preventive measures, classification and treatment method of fractures around femoral prosthesis after artificial hip replacement. METHODS:The clinical data of the type classification, treatment method and clinical efficacy of fractures around femoral prosthesis after artificial hip replacement were retrospectively analyzed. The multi-level study was performed to investigate the trend of the relevant literatures. According to the Vancouver classification criteria, the various types of fractures and the results and complications of various treatment methods were analyzed, the treatment methods of different fractures were identified, and the effective and objective evaluation criteria were established to provide references for the clinical treatment. RESUTLS AND CONCLUSION:The fractures around femoral prosthesis after artificial hip replacement were closely related with the age of the patients, basic diseases, osteoporosis and selection of prosthesis type. The Vancouver classification criteria and treatment programs have guiding significance to the clinical efficacy. The fractures should be treated with different methods according to the different types in order to promote the fracture healing. The fractures around femoral prosthesis after artificial hip replacement were commonly treated with shape memory alloy embracing fixator, minimal y invasive fixation system, locking compression plate, al ograft cortical bone plates, carbon fiber, impaction bone grafting and renovation. In the practice application, various methods are often used in combination. For the patients with B2 and B3 type fractures, we should pay attention to the bone grafting around the fractures and the inner and outer medul ary cavity.
