Caveolae are specialized lipid rafts that form flask-shaped invaginations of the plasma membrane. Many researches show that caveolae are involved in cell signaling and transport. Caveolin-1 is the major coat protein essential for the formation of caveolae. Recently, several reports indicated that the other caveolae-associated proteins, Cavins, are required for caveola formation and organization. It's worth noting that Cavin-1 could cooperate with Caveolin-1 to accommodate the structural integrity and function of caveolae. Here, we reviewed that the relationship between Cavins and Caveolins and explore the role of them in regulating caveolae.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2003;0(10):-
Objective To determine the association of acanthosis nigricans(AN) with values for estimating insulin resistance and adipocytokine levels in simple obese children. Methods These subjects concluded 38 simple obese children. AN was present in 17 of 38 children. Height, weight and abdominal circumference were recorded and fasting blood sample was obtained for measurement of blood glucose, plasma insulin, leptin, and plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) levels which were known as the risk factors of cardiovascular disease. We obtained homeostasis model assessment insulin resistance index (HOMA-R) by fasting blood glucose and plasma insulin levels. Results The severity of obesity, abdominal circumference, fasting insulin levels and HOMA-R were significantly higher in obese children to AN compared to those without AN. There was the tendency that children with AN had higher levels of leptin and PAI-1 compared to children without AN. Conclusions These results suggest that obese children with AN may have a risk of cardiovascular disease as well as type 2 diabetes mellitus.

OBJECTIVETo introduce a simple, fast and universal measuring method used in measurement of the surface area of scalp flap over the cranial defect after decompressive craniectomy.
METHODSThe first step: CT images of the patient with craniocerebral trauma after decompressive craniectomy were obtained and imported into Mimics. The second step: based on the defined threshold, the 3D geometric models of brain and skull were reconstructed after the original Dicom format pictures three-dimensional processed by Mimics. The third step: based on the two builded 3D models, utilizing the segmentation and measurement tools of Mimics to conduct cutting, splitting and measuring operations for the 3D model of brain. The forth step: estimating the surface area of scalp flap over the removed bone flap by using mathematical computation methods.
RESULTSThe application of the introduced method estimated the surface area of scalp flap over the cranial defect of different people with different position of craniocerebral trauma.
CONCLUSIONSThis paper introduces a simple, fast and universal new measuring method. We can conveniently estimate the surface area of scalp flap by using the introduced method.

In order to investigate the mechanism, the correlation between the odor change in Crataegi Fructus stir-fried process and 5-HMF were studied. Required samples were retrieved from Crataegi Fructus stir-fried process. Statistical quality control (SQC) was used to analyze the response values acquired by the electronic nose. At the same time, the content of 5-HMF was detected by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). Correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between the above two. Experimental results showed that SQC model established by response values of all samples could show the change law of odor in Crataegi Fructus stir-fried process and changes of 5-HMF content was dropped after the first increase. Correlation analysis showed that the odor change in Crataegi Fructus stir-fried process and 5-HMF were significantly correlated (P < 0.05). Sugar degradation reaction and the Maillard reaction may be one of the mechanisms of the odor change in Crataegi Fructus stir-fried process.
