Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2016;33(1):67-77
Heart rate variability (HRV) is an important point to judge a person's state in modern medicine. This paper is aimed to research a person's fatigue level connected with vagal nerve based on the HRV using the improved Welch method. The process of this method is that it firstly uses a time window function on the signal to be processed, then sets the length of time according to the requirement, and finally makes frequency domain analysis. Compared with classical periodogram method, the variance and consistency of the present method have been improved. We can set time span freely using this method (at present, the time of international standard to measure HRV is 5 minutes). This paper analyses the HRV's characteristics of fatigue crowd based on the database provided by Physio-Net. We therefore draw the conclusion that the accuracy of Welch analyzing HRV combining with appropriate window function has been improved enormously, and when the person changes to fatigue, the vagal activity is diminished and sympathetic activity is raised.

A new method was developed for the determination of 11 fat_soluble vitamins ( A, D, E and K) and its derivatives in vitamin tablets by ultra performance convergence chromatography ( UPC2 ) . The mobile phase was the mixture of supercritical CO2 and acetonitrile at a flow rate of 1 mL/min. The separation was carried out on the Waters Acquity UPC2 HSS C18 SB 100 mm × 3. 0 mm i. d. , 1. 8 μm column. The UV detector was set at a wavelength of 284 nm. The limits of detection ( LOD) were 1. 5-2. 0 mg/L, and the calibration linear for VK1 , VK2 , VK3 and VB3 was 3-300 mg/L, linear for VA, VA palmitate, VA formic acid, VE, VE acetate, VD2 and VD3 was 5-300 mg/L, respectively. Its spiked recoveries were 97. 31%-98. 76%, and the relative standard deviations ( RSDs) were 0. 41%-0. 96%. The method is applicable for the determination of fat_soluble vitamins ( A, D, E and K) and Their derivatives in vitamin tablets.

Objective To compare the difference of prospective memory(PM) between schizophrenia patients and normal people, and to analyze the internal component of prospective memory using multinomial processing tree(MPT) model. Methods 17 schizophrenia patients and 17 age-and education-matched control participants completed an event-based PM task which was embedded within an ongoing computer-based color-matching task.Internal component of prospective memory was analyzed using multinomial processing tree(MPT) model. Results The scores of prospective memory performance in schizophrenia patients and normal controls were (21.83± 2.46) % and (38.81±2.26) %, and the difference was statistically significant (t=2.11, P<0.05).The difference of ongoing task between schizophrenia patients ((75.88±0.43) %) and controls ((71.44±0.45) %) was statistically significant (t=2.79, P<0.05).The reaction time of schizophrenia patients was significantly longer than that of normal controls((2.34±1.41) s vs (1.81± 1.19) s, t=11.24, P< 0.05).The MPT model revealed a significant group difference in the prospective component (0.82 vs 0.97, G2(1)=14.17, P< 0.01) and retrospective component (0.54 vs 0.41 ,G2(1) 14.17, P<0.01).Conclusion The prospective component of event-based prospective memory of schizophrenia patients was lower than normal controls, which may result in the impairment of PM performance.

Object To explore the antitumor mechanism of Stellera chamaejasme Linn.(SC).Methods SC containing-serum(SCCS)was derived from mice pretreated with different doses of SC.Cultured human leukemia HL-60 and human gastric adenocarcinoma SGC-7901 cells were used.Inhibition of proliferation was measured using MTT assay.Morphological assessment of apoptosis was performed with fluorescence microscope.DNA fragmentation was assessed by agarose gel electrophoresis and flow cytometry.Expression of bcl-2 protein was measured with immunohistochemistry. Results Exposure of exponentially growing HL-60 cells to mice serum containing 10% SC(pretreated with SC3,6, and 12 g/kg)for 48h resulted in growth inhibition in a dose-dependent manner.Typical morphological changes of apoptosis and DNA fragmentation in HL-60 cells were induced."Apobodies'in the apoptotic cells were observed,'ladder"pattern of agarose gel electrophoresis of DNA from 11.7% to 57.4%.Treatment with SC containing serum decreased the percentage of SGC-7901 cell of bcl-2 protein positive expression from 78.3% to 32.9%.Conclusion SC could induce apoptosis of HL-60 cells and decrease the expression of bcl-2 protein of gastric adenocarcinoma SGC-7901 cells.

Objective To evaluate the role of 11C-methionine positron emission tomographv(MET PET-CT)in differentiating tumor recurrence from radiation necrosis in brain slioma patients. Methods From June 2008 to September 2009,30 brain glioma patients with suspected tumor recurvence or radiation necrosis after radiotherapy were evaluated by MET PET-CT.The median time between initial radiotherapy and PET examination was 13.5 months.Tumor recurrence were confirmed by histological analysis while necrosis was based on histological analysis or the subsequent clinical follow-up.Results Eighteen out of 19 patients were histologically confirmed tumor recurrence among those tumor recurrence shown by MET PET-CT after surgery or stereotactic biopsy.11 patients were considered to have radiation necrosis because of stable neurological sympotoms and without massive enlargement of the lesion during the after follow-up.The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of MET PET-CT for detecting tumor recurrence were 100%,91.7%and 96.7%respectively.Conclusion MET PET-CT is a powerful tool in differentiating brain tumor recurrence from radiation necrosis after radiotherapy.

Journal of Clinical Pediatrics 2017;35(9):652-654
Objective To explore the correlation between the fluctuation of blood glucose levels and brain damage in neonates with hypoglycemia. Methods The clinical data of 58 cases of neonatal hypoglycemia diagnosed from September 2013 to August 2016 were analyzed retrospectively. According to the results of neonatal cranial MRI and/or amplitude integrated electroencephalogram (aEEG), the neonates were divided into brain injury group and non-brain injury group. The fluctuation index of blood glucose was compared between two groups, and the correlation between the fluctuation of blood glucose level and brain injury was analyzed. Results In these 58 cases, 13 cases were in brain injury group (8 males and 5 females) and 45 cases were in non-brain injury group (27 males and 18 females). The lowest blood glucose (LBG) value in brain injury group was lower than that in non-brain injury group, while the duration of hypoglycemia, maximum blood glucose fluctuations (LAGE), standard deviation of blood glucose (SDBG), and average blood glucose fluctuations (MAGE) were higher than those in non-brain injury group, and they were all significantly different (P all<0.001). Conclusions Whether the hypoglycemia in newborn could lead to the brain injury or not depends not only on the minimum hypoglycaemia level and duration of hypoglycemia, but also on the indicators of glucose variation, such as LAGE, SDBG and MAGE.
