Objective To improve the diagnostic accuracy of primary renal rare benign tumors by exploring and analyzing the CT/MRI and clinical pathologic features. Methods 9 patients with primary renal rare benign tumors pathologically proven lesions after operation who had CT or MRI exams with contrast were enrolled in our hospital. The radiological and clinical pathological features of all tumors were analyzed respectively. Results The cases were the mixed epithelial and stromal tumor of kidney (MESTK),cystic nephroma(CN),renal leiomyoma(RL)and renal oncocytoma(RO)respectively.Location:6 cases were in left kidney and 3 in right kidney.Size:long diameter 2.5-8.9 cm,mean 5.7 cm;short diameter 2.5-8.4 cm,mean 4.9 cm.The tumor shape included oval(n=7) and irregular(n=2).9 cases protruded from the renal surface.MESTK showed polycystic lesions on preconstrast, various degrees of cystic wall and septum enhancement were detected on enhancement scans.CN showed cystic lesions and calcification on preconstrast, slight septum enhancement were detected on enhancement scans.RL showed heterogeneous density or signal with patchy necrosis and clear border on precontrast, the obvious enhancement was found on cortex and medullary phase and slight washout enhancement was detected on excretory phase.RO showed heterogeneous hypointense on T1 WI,hyperintense on T2 WI and mixed isodensity and hypodensity on CT precontrast.Slight delayed enhancement was found in central scar and washout enhancement was detected in parenchyma on three phases. Conclusion There are some special CT/MRI characteristics for primary renal rare benign tumors, which could improve their diagnosis and differential diagnosis combined with the clinical pathological features.

AIM:To evaluate the effect of curcumin on impaired learning-memory ability and the expression of high mobility group box protein 1 ( HMGB1 ) and c-Jun N-terminal kinase ( JNK ) in a rat model of Alzheimer disease (AD).METHODS:Male Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 250~270 g, were randomly divided into 4 groups (n=9):blank control group (group A), model group (group B), curcumin treatment group (group C, curcumin injected intraper-itoneally at 100 mg· kg-1· d-1 for 6 consecutive days) and solvent control group (group D).The rats of AD model were induced by injection of ibotenic acid into the nucleus basalis of Meynert ( NBM) bilaterally. All rats were trained in Morris maze to assess the ability of learning and memory .The expression of HMGB1 and JNK in the hippocampus was detected by the methods of immunohistochemistry and Western blotting .RESULTS:Compared with group A , the average escape laten-cy (AEL) in groups B and D were obviously longer (P<0.05), while AEL in group C in the 5th and 6th days were signif-icantly shorter (P<0.05).The releases of HMGB1 in the CA1 and CA3 areas in groups B and D from the nucleus were a-bundant.Compared with groups B and D , HMGB1 in hippocampal CA1 and CA3 areas in group C secreted out of the nu-cleus decreased obviously (P<0.05).No significant difference of the release of HMGB1 between group A and group C was observed (P>0.05).No significant difference in the expression of HMGB1 in the hippocampus among the 4 groups was found (P>0.05).However, compared with groups B and D , the expression of JNK in group C was decreased obvi-ously (P<0.05).CONCLUSION: Curcumin significantly improves the learning and memory ability of AD rats .The probable mechanisms may be related to inhibiting the release of HMGB 1 from the nucleus of hippocampal neurons and de-creasing the expression of JNK in the hippocampus .

Objective:To explore the effect of minimally invasive hematoma puncture and drainage in the treatment of elderly patients with cerebral hemorrhage by using 3D slicer and Sina software to conduct 3D reconstruction and preoperative localization of intracerebral hematoma. Methods:A total of 74 elderly patients with a first-onset intracerebral hematoma aged ≥75 years, having surgical indications and stable vital signs were grouped into 3D slicer plus Sina software localization group(as group A, n=40)or CT localization group(as group B, n=34). Based on the localization, hematoma puncture and drainage were performed after local anesthesia.Preoperative preparation time, hematoma location, puncture success rate, postoperative hematoma clearance rate, postoperative re-bleeding rate and GCS score were statistically analyzed.Glasgow coma scale(GCS)scores were used in predicting the mortality. Results:The preoperative preparation time was significantly shorter in group A than in group B[(5.5±3.4)min vs.(8.5±2.7)min, t=3.337, P=0.001]. The success rate of hematoma puncture and drainage(90.0% and 70.6%, χ2=4.51, P=0.034)and postoperative hematoma clearance rate[(87.5±3.4)% and(80.3±2.7)%, t=10.10, P=0.000]were higher in group A than in group B. There were no significant differences in operative time, the accuracy of hematoma localization, re-bleeding rate and GCS score between the two groups( P>0.05). Conclusions:3D slicer plus Sina software can precisely locate the intracerebral hematoma, and minimally invasive hematoma puncture and drainage of intracerebral hematoma under local anesthesia were safe and effective in the treatment of elderly patients with intracerebral hemorrhage.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2019;39(2):207-214
We propose a novel palm-vein recognition model based on the end-to-end convolutional neural network. In this model, the convolutional layer and the pooling layer were alternately connected to extract the image features, and the categorical attribute was estimated simultaneously via the neural network classifier. The classification error was minimized via the mini-batch stochastic gradient descent algorithm with momentum to optimize the feature descriptor along with the direction of the gradient descent. Four strategies including data augmentation, batch normalization, dropout, and L2 parameter regularization were applied in the model to reduce the generalization error. The experimental results showed that for classifying 500 subjects form PolyU database and a self-established database, this model achieved identification rates of 99.90% and 98.05%, respectively, with an identification time for a single sample less than 9 ms. The proposed approach, as compared with the traditional method, could improve the accuracy of palm vein recognition in clincal applications and provides a new approach to palm vein recognition.

Chinese Journal of Schistosomiasis Control 2024;36(4):435-438
Cystic echinococcosis, a zoonotic disease that poses a significant threat to human health and animal husbandry development, is prevalent across the world and predominantly occurs in agricultural and pastoral regions. However, cystic echinococcosis cases are rare in non-endemic areas, which is likely to cause misdiagnosis or missing diagnosis, resulting in delay in treatment. This report presents an overseas imported cystic echinococcosis case misdiagnosed as pulmonary and hepatic cysts, so as to provide insights into diagnosis and treatment of cystic echinococcosis in non-endemic areas.
