Objective: To improve the diagnosis and treatment level of secretory otitis media (SOM) of children. Method :Clinical information of 80 children with SOM were colletcted and analysed. All of the 80 cases (144 ears)were treated by myringotomy with Grommet insertion. Among them, 30 cases by adenotonsillectomy. 10 cases by palatoplasty. Secretions of 54 ears were carded out by bacterial culture. Result:80 cases were followed up for 6 to 12 mothes. 120 ears of 144 were cured (83％) ,with hearing improved. The tympanograms and hearing threshold of pure tone were found to be normal. The Gram＇s positive and negative germs of bactevial culture were 20.7％ (6/29 samples ) and 24％ (6/25 samples ) respectively. Conclusion: Children with secretory otitis media should be treated as early as posible to improve the patients＇ hearing and develope their speech.

Objective To examine the validity and reliability of the abbreviated mental test (AMT) among Chinese subjects. Methods Two groups of subjects participated in the study. One group consisted of 38 patients with neurological disorders and the other 30 normal subjects (control group). They were assessed twice with AMT and mini mental state examination (MMSE) within one week. Results AMT was significantly correlated with MMSE as far as the total score and item scores were concerned( r =0.706～0.833).There were moderate to high correlation in all the items of AMT between the two assessment tools(ICC=0.810～0.996). Objective To detect the difference of the light sensitivity in the central visual field between normal people and type Ⅱ diabetic patients without diabetic retinopathy , and evaluate the effect of perimetric examination in early diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy. Methods The light sensitivity at the 80 locations in the central field was measured by Dicon field analyzer (model TKS 4000) in 76 normal eyes of 44 normal volunteers aged from 45 to 72 years and 75 eyes of 40 type Ⅱ diabetic patients without retinopathy aged from 46 to 71 years. Objective To observe the eftccts of the extract of termitarium on the climbing ability and life span of Parkinson disease (PD)drosophila(Ddc GAL4/+ ;UAS-wild type α-synuclein/I ),and to explore its mechanism of anti- PD. Methods The termitarium was extracted by ethanol.PD drosophilas overexpressed α-synuclein were fed with 1,10 and 100 mg of termitarium per 100 g culture medium.The climbing ability and life span of drosophilas and pathological changes of its brain tissue (Congo red staining) were observed and compared among different concentrations. Results Termitarium enhanced the climbing ability of PD drosophilas and the most significant improvement appeared from 18 d to 36 d after eclosion,increasing with more termitarium concentrations and growing age of PD drosophilas.Termitarium also prolonged the life span among which male and female drosophila were longer 31.82 ％ ～ 3.34 ％,1.47 ％ ～ 3.34 ％ as compared with PD drosophila control (all P＜0.05).The brain cells number in the PD drosophilas were increased and empty bubble was decreased by rermitarium, accompanying with improvement of behavior and life span.Conclusions Termitarium can improve behavior and prolong life span of PD drosophilas.
