Objective: To improve the diagnosis and treatment level of secretory otitis media (SOM) of children. Method :Clinical information of 80 children with SOM were colletcted and analysed. All of the 80 cases (144 ears)were treated by myringotomy with Grommet insertion. Among them, 30 cases by adenotonsillectomy. 10 cases by palatoplasty. Secretions of 54 ears were carded out by bacterial culture. Result:80 cases were followed up for 6 to 12 mothes. 120 ears of 144 were cured (83％) ,with hearing improved. The tympanograms and hearing threshold of pure tone were found to be normal. The Gram＇s positive and negative germs of bactevial culture were 20.7％ (6/29 samples ) and 24％ (6/25 samples ) respectively. Conclusion: Children with secretory otitis media should be treated as early as posible to improve the patients＇ hearing and develope their speech.

Objective To examine the validity and reliability of the abbreviated mental test (AMT) among Chinese subjects. Methods Two groups of subjects participated in the study. One group consisted of 38 patients with neurological disorders and the other 30 normal subjects (control group). They were assessed twice with AMT and mini mental state examination (MMSE) within one week. Results AMT was significantly correlated with MMSE as far as the total score and item scores were concerned( r =0.706～0.833).There were moderate to high correlation in all the items of AMT between the two assessment tools(ICC=0.810～0.996). Objective To detect the difference of the light sensitivity in the central visual field between normal people and type Ⅱ diabetic patients without diabetic retinopathy , and evaluate the effect of perimetric examination in early diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy. Objective:To evaluate the usefulness of T2-weighed magnetic resonance images (MRI) in preoperative assessment of the depth of myometrial invasion and the staging of patients with endometrial carcinoma. Methods: 33 cases of endometrial carcinoma were examined by MRI before operation, and the pathological findings were compared with MRI findings.Results:The overall accuracy of T2-weighed magnetic resonance images in staging endometrial carcinoma was 84.85% (28/33). The accuracy for distinguishing stages Ⅰa,Ⅰb andⅠc was 84.62%(22/26). And the accuracy for localization of myometrial invasion (stageⅠc between stages Ⅰa+Ⅰb) was 96.15%(25/26). All the 3 cases with cervical invasions confirmed by pathological findings were accurately assessed by MRI. Conclusion:MRI is useful in assessing the depth of myometrial invasion and accurate staging in patients with endometrial carcinoma.
