1.Influence of vascular endothelial growth factor versus basic fibroblast growth factor on radial fracture healing in rabbits
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2007;0(33):-
BACKGROUND: Studies have demonstrated that vascular endothelial cell growth factor (VEGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) play important roles in entochondrostosis and fracture healing blood vessel hyoperplasia. OBJECTIVE: To observe and compare the roles of VEGF and bFGF in fracture healing. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Double-factor trial was performed at Pathological Laboratory, North China Coal Medical University from August 2005 to May 2006. MATERIALS: Twenty-four adult healthy Japan rabbits were selected and radial fracture models were created in 48 bilateral anterior limbs. The rabbits were randomly divided into VEGF group and bFGF group (n=24). METHODS: VEGF (0.2 ?g) and bFGF (100 ng) were injected respectively in the fracture site of rabbits. No external fixation was used. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The rabbits were executed at postoperative weeks 2, 4 and 6 to measure callus sagittal diameter, transverse diameter and section area. X-ray was used to observe fracture healing and measure bony callus total area. Histological alterations during fracture healing were observed, and percentage of trabecular bone, cartilage and fibrous tissue in the bony callus was determined. RESULTS: At 2 weeks after operation, callus sagittal diameter and transverse diameter in VEGF group were significantly larger than bFGF group (P
2.Color Doppler sonographic mapping of the normal brachial plexus
Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2002;0(03):-
Objective To demonstrate the mapping of the brachial plexus by means of high resolution sonography. Methods Eight healthy adult volunteers (three women and five men) underwent bilateral sonographic examination to assess the nerve structures of the brachial plexus from the extraforaminal part to the axillary part. Results A satisfactory sonographic demonstration was shown in all the volunteers. The subclavian and deep cervical arteries were useful landmarks for this mapping. Sonography was also reliable in depicting the level of the C7 vertebra because of the absence of the anterior tubercle from its transverse processes. Conclusion The brachial plexus can be mapped with high resolution sonography, for it may increase the diagnostic rate of brachial plexus injury.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2014;(1):119-124
BACKGROUND:The mechanisms of mesenchymal stem cells directional y homing to infarcted myocardium post myocardial infarction are stil unclear.
OBJECTIVE:To investigate the role of stromal cellderived factor-1 (SDF-1)/C-X-C chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) axis on mesenchymal stem cellmigration promoted by mononuclear cells after myocardial infarction.
METHODS:Cardiomyocytes and mesenchymal stem cells were respectively isolated from suckling and adult Sprague-Dawley rats. Twelve healthy Sprague-Dawley rats were selected (six rats for myocardial infarction models and six for sham models), then circulating mononuclear cells were isolated. 4,6-Diamino-2-phenyl indole-labeled mesenchymal stem cells, cardiomyocytes and mononuclear cells were cultured into the upper, middle and lower layers of the tri-chamber coculture system, respectively. In this experiment, there were four groups:myocardial infarction group, AMD3100 (CXCR4 inhibitor) group, sham group and blank control group. After 48 hours, the number of migrating mesenchymal stem cells with blue-lighting nucleus was calculated under fluoroscope. Immunocytochemistry and immunofluorescent staining was used to detect SDF-1 expression in cardiomyocytes and CXCR4 expression in mesenchymal stem cells, respectively.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Migrating mesenchymal stem cells with positive expression of CXCR4 were observed in each group other than the blank control group. The number of migrating mesenchymal stem cells was higher in the myocardial infarction group than in the other groups. Tumor necrosis factor-αneutralizing antibody and CXCR4 inhibitor AMD3100 could obviously reduce the number of migrating mesenchymal stem cells (P<0.05). Cardiomyocytes in each group expressed SDF-1 positively. The gray values of SDF-1 expression in the myocardial infarction and AMD3100 groups were significantly higher than those in the sham and blank control groups (P<0.05). SDF-1/CXCR4 axis plays a certain role in mesenchymal stem cells migration promoted by mononuclear cells after myocardial infarction.

Chinese Journal of Prevention and Control of Chronic Diseases 2006;0(03):-
Objective To investigate the related risk factors for stroke among residents aged over 26 years old in communities in Chongqing,to set up a quantitative criteria for determining risk for stroke, and to evaluate and predict the risk of the stroke for individuals. Methods 1 034 cases with 1:2 matched controls were chosen from five communities in Chongqing, which were interviewed with a uniform questionnaire. The risk factors of stroke were analyzed with Logistic regression, collected the odds ratios of risk factors for stroke, and different levels of risk exposure factors be converted into a risk scores by using statistical models. The related risk scores were added to obtain a combined risk score to predict the individual's risk of stoke in the future. Results An individual health risk appraisal model of stroke applicable to individuals of different sex, age, health behavior, disease and family history was established. For men,11 risk factors, including hypertension(5.728),coronary heart disease(5.404),family history of stroke(4.599),and so on,were entered the main effect model;for women,hypertension(5.270),family history of stroke(4.866),hyperlipidemia(4.346),and other eight risk factors entered the main effect model. Conclusion Personal diseases, including hypertension,CHD and hyperlipidemia, etc.,are very important risk factors for stoke. The stroke prevalence can be effectively reduced by changing the unhealthy lifestyle and curing the related individual diseases. The evaluation model of the risk score for stroke based on the main risk factors could be useful in the future health education and community health service on stroke prevention.

Germination of the seeds of Bupleurum chinense and B. falcatum activated by exogenous hormones of dif ferent concentrations was studied. The hormones used were GA3, 6-BA and IAA. The optimum concentration of the 3 hormones that activated the seed germination of B. chinense was 50?g/ml,while that for B. falcatum was 200?g/ml, 100?g/ml and 25?g/ml respectively. Among the 3 hormones, 6-BA showed the greatest effect on the 2 species of Bupleurum L. 50?g/ml 6-BA raised the germination rate of the seeds of B. chinese from 57.5 % to 84. 5 % and 100?g/ml 6-BA raised the germination rate of the seeds of B.falcatum from 28. 5 % to 76.0%

In this study histochemical method was used. It has been found that on the seventh day after epidural administration of capsaicin substance p like immuno- reactivity (SPAR) in laminae Ⅰ-Ⅱ of dorsal horn of spinal cord decreased obv- iously as compared with that of vehicle treated animals, meanwhile, the activity of fluoride resistant acid phosphatase (FRAP) in both laminae Ⅱ of dorsal horn of spinal cord and the B-type cells of spinal ganglion disappeared. On the cont- rary the Leu-enkephalin immunoreactivity (ENK-IR) in laminae Ⅰ-Ⅲ of dorsal horn of spinal cord apparently increased as compared with that in vehicle group. the evidence from functional measurement showed that capsaicin can raise pain threshold, however, vehicle didnot have obvious influence on pain threshold. The foregoing results suggest that epidural administration of capsaicin in adult rat can effect the level of neurontransmitters, the activity of enzymes and block the con- duction of the primary afferent C fibers; the capsaicin-sensitive C fibers may have relationship with the ENK-containing interneurons in dorsal horn of spinal cord.
