Objective: To investigate the cerebral cognitive function and intelligence in children with learning disorder (LD). Method:Thirty children with LD were examined with Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) and the Wechsler intelligence Scale for Children-Chinese Revised (WISC-CR). The results were then compared between LD and healthy control. Results:Compared with healthy control, the correct categories of WCST and correct responses in LD group were significantly lower (4.3?1.3/5.1?1.2). The persistent errors (38.6?10.7/23.9?8.4), total trials and total errors of WCST in LD were significantly higher than those in healthy control. In LD group, the full intelligence quotient (FIQ)(89.0?14.3/112.6?17.0) and the verbal intelligence quotient (VIQ) and performance intelligence quotient (PIQ) of WISC were all significantly lower than those in healthy control. So did scores of four factors of WISC, such as arithmetic, comprehension, and block design and object assembly. The incidence of abnormal intelligence structure in LD (80%) was significantly higher than that in healthy control (30%). The IQ in LD children was positively correlated with the correct categories and correct responses of WCST, and negatively with the total trials and the total errors and persistent errors of WCST.Conclusion:LD children suffered the frontal executive function deficits and cognitive dysfunction.

Objection To study the effect of letrozole on EM rat models and influence on the reproductive system. Methods Surgically transplanted autologous uterine tissues to ectopic site beside the uterines in rats were used as animal models to study endometriosis. 20 EM model rats were random divided into letrozole-treated group and saline solution-treated control group. The change of ectopic lesion volume in each group was compared before and after treatment. Apoptotic cells were assessed by the terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated deoxy-UTP nick-end labeling (TUNEL) assay, and the uterian horn and ovary were weighted and observed by optical microscopy to study the change of morphology. Results The volumes of the endometriotic tissues of letrozole group reduced more than that in control group[ ( 28. 75 ± 2.28 )mm3 vs ( 108.39 ±9. 98)mm3, P <0.01 ]. The apoptotic rate in letrozole group [ (5.52 ±2. 81 )% ]was higher than control group[ (2.11 ± 1.70)%, P <0. 01 ]. The ovarian weights in letrozole-treated group increased significantly[ (25.25 ± 9. 89) mg/100g vs ( 13. 10 ± 2. 70 ) mg/100g, P < 0. 01 ], arid the ovaries showed polycyst. The uterian weights in letrozole-treated group[ (41.46 ± 15.81 ) mg/100g vs (94. 81 ±18.00) mg/100g, P <0. 05 ] significantly decreased, and the endometriums presented atrophy. Conclusion Letrozole treated EM by means of increasing the apoptosis of the ectopic tissues. Letrozole would give ovarian over stimulating and the uterian weighting decreased as well as endometriums atrophy.

BACKGROUND: Resin adhesives include total-etching, self-etching and one-step adhesive. The studies concerning their adhesive properties remain different.OBJECTIVE: To compare the bonding strengths of fiber posts cemented to root canals with etch-and-rinse adhesives and self-etch adhesives, and to observe the physical interface bonding conformation using laser scanning confocal microscope so as to understand the retention of macro-and micro-morphology relationship.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: In vitro comparative observation was performed at the laboratories of Prosthodontics and Oral Surgery, Ninth People's Hospital, Shanghai Jiao Tong University from March 2008 to March 2009.MATERIALS: MATCHPOST fiber posts (Bisco, USA); etch-and-rinse adhesives (One-step, Bisco, USA) and self-etch adhesives (Panavia F adhesive system, Japan), fluorescein (Sigma, USA).METHODS: A total of 10 upper central incisor teeth, which had been freshly extracted for periodontal reasons, were selected, and the crown, 1 mm from the enamel-cementum junction, was cut. They were randomly divided into 2 groups with 5 specimens in each group. The fiber posts were bonded to root canals with One-Step or Panavia F which was tagged with rhodamine B.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Each specimen was sectioned into two 2 mm-thick slices. A push-out test was made in a universal testing machine (EZ20), and confocal laser scanning microscopic (CLSM) analysis was performed to evaluate the primer penetration into dentin. The thickness of adhesive layer was measured by random software.RESULTS: The bonding strength of the group cemented with One-step was significantly greater than Panavia F (P < 0.05). The bonding strength of root crown was significantly greater than root apex (P < 0.05). One-step represented in CLSM image showed numerous and longer resin tags than Panavia F (P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: Etch-and-rinse adhesives (One-step) gained higher bonding strengths than self-etch adhesives (Panavia F).Resin binder to bond strength of fiber post and neck was greater than in the root apex.

Journal of Third Military Medical University 2003;0(19):-
Objective To summarize clinical characteristics of primary nephrotic syndrome (PNS) in children. Methods The clinical and laboratory data of 964 children with PNS (including 747 new cases) were retrospectively analyzed, who were admitted between 1 August,1996 to 31 July,2006. Results Of 747 cases,568 were males and 179 females, with a median age of 4.7 years (0.3-17.3). The total number of children with PNS aged from 1 to 5 years was 385 (51.5%). Compared with children with nephritic type nephrotic syndrome (NNS),children with simple type nephrotic syndrome (SNS) had lower albumin (P0.05); Compared with normal values, children with PNS had lower IgG (P0.05). Main motivation of PNS relapse in children was upper respiratory infection, followed by irregular administration of glucocorticoids. Conclusion Children aged from 1 to 5 years are susceptible to PNS. There is humoral immunological dysfunction in PNS children. In the treatment of PNS,to relieve hyperlipidemia and to prevent and control infections is the key point. To strengthen propaganda and guidance about PNS is important as well.
