BACKGROUND: Diabetic retinopathy is the common complications of diabetes mellitus. Taurine is free aminoacid with the mostly abundant content in retina, and it is the necessary nutrition factor for regeneration and development of retina. Deficiency of taurine will cause structural and functional change of retina.OBJECTIVE: To probe into the effect of taurine on the expression of retinal glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) mRNA DESIGN: A randomized and controlled observation SETTING: Third Military Medical University of Chinese PLA MATERIALS: This experiment was carried out at the Third Military Medical University of Chinese PLA from March 2003 to December 2003.Totally 54 closed group SD rats, with body mass of 250 g, were chosen. The successful diabetic rat model were randomly divided into 6 groups: diabetic group of 1 month, taurine-treated diabetic group of 1 month, diabetic group of 2 months, taurine-treated diabetic group of 2 months, diabetic group of 3 months, taurine-treated diabetic group of 3 months, with 9 rats in each group. Another 15 rats were chosen homeochronously as normal control group.METHODS: The animals were raised in separate cages. They were free to access to food and water, and fasted for 12 hours before experiment. Streptozotocin was used to induce diabetes mellitus .When Tes-Tape showed urine glucose reached more than (+++), and blood glucose concentration of venous blood from tail measured >16.7 mmol/L, models were established successfully. Expressions of GFAP mRNA and protein were measured with immunohistochemistry, RT-PCR, Western blotting and other technical methods. The effect of taurine on retinal neurons and glial cells in rats with diabetes mellitus was observed.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Expressions of GFAP mRNA and protein RESULTS: ① Immunohistochemical analysis showed that: When rats suffered from diabetes mellitus for 1 month, taurine can inhibit the immunoreactivity of GFAP. With the elongation of intervention time of taurine, the immunoreactivity of GFAP is weakened. ②RT-PCR detection: Starting from the beginning of 2 months, the expression of GFAPmRNA in diabetic group began to increase; taurine obviously down-regulated the expression of GFAP mRNA. ③ In taurine-treated diabetic group of 3 months, the expression of GFAP was the strongest. When diabetic rats were treated by taurine for 2 months, the expression of GFAP was decreased.CONCLUSION: Taurine can down-regulate the expression of GFAP mR-NA and protein, indicating that it can protect retinal pathological change in rats with diabetes mellitus.

Objective To explore the application of domestic bladder capacity scanner in intermittent catheterization in patients with neurogenic bladder. Methods 40 patients with neurogenic bladder accepted intermittent catheterization. Their bladder volume was tested with domestic and imported bladder capacity scanner (Padscan and Bladderscan) and catheterization respectively. Results The bladder volume was (262.592±6.3012) ml tested by Padscan, and was (262.570±6.3006) ml by Bladderscan (P>0.05). The bladder volume tested by bladder catheterization was (245.549±6.0511) ml, which was significantly lower than the other methods (P<0.001), but the D-value was just 17 ml. Conclusion The accuracy of bladder volume tested by domestic bladder capacity scanner (Padscan) was very similar with the imported one (Bladderscan), and the difference between them and the volume tested by bladder catheterization was meaningless in clinical.

OBJECTIVEThis study described the clinical, surgical, and radiographic findings of simple bone cysts.
METHODSA retrospective study was conducted for patients diagnosed with simple bone cysts in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Nanchang University from March 2005 to March 2015. Clinical, radio-graphic, surgical, and follow-up data were gathered. Results were statistically analyzed by central tendency and dispersionusing SPSS 20.0 software.
RESULTSEleven cases of simple bone cysts were collected, including three male and eight female patients. Ten cases (90.9%) were asymptomatic and one case developed symptoms of swelling. All of the cases had no history of trauma in the affected area, and all were solitary; ten cases (90.9%) were unilocular, and one (9.1%) was multilocular. The shape of each lesion could be assigned to four categories: cone (3 cases), round (2 cases), oval (4 cases), and irregular (2 cases). The treatment in 10 cases consisted of surgery to explore the cavity and curettage of the bone walls. During surgery, the bone cavity in seven cases (70%) was vacant, whereas serous fluid was found in two cases (20%) and serous-bloody fluid in one case (10%). Of the ten cases, three cases exhibited complete bone healing and seven cases showed new bone formation.
CONCLUSIONSimple bone cysts of the jaws are usually asymptomatic and appear incidentally on routine radiographies. The prevalence is higher in the mandible and young people. The patient usually has no history of trauma, and the bone cavity of lesion is mostly vacant. Curettage of the bone walls of the lesion is suggested for simple bone cysts. Systemic clinical and radiologic follow-up are necessary to ensure successful treatment.

Magnesium stents have gained increasing interest as an ideal stent of future intervention. In order to study the deformation behavior of magnesium alloy stents in the interventional treatment, the finite element method was used to analysis the effects of different crimp and expansion dimensions on the mechanical properties (maximum stress, radial recoil rate, longitudinal shortening rate and radial strength). The results showed that crimping and expanding have a minimal influence on the stent radial strength. When the expansion size is same, the maximum equivalent stress and recoil rate decrease with the crimp size. When the crimp size is same, in contrast with the radial recoil rate, the maximum equivalent stress and longitudinal shortening rate increase with the expansion size. In addition the paper verified the radial strength-radial displacement curve obtained by FEM. Results are basically consistent, indicating the finite element method can efficiently provide researchers with reliable, high-quality design.

Objective To discuss the feasibility of establishing the model of combining myocardial ischemic coronary disease with syndrome of kidney deficiency and blood stasis by surgical method. Methods Non-disease of kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome model was built by taking the methods of fright, being placed in a cold environment and injection of hydrocortisone. The model of combining the myocardial ischemic coronary disease with the syndrome of kidney deficiency and blood stasis was established through ligating the left anterior descending branch of artery and injecting hydrocortisone. The rats were divided into kidney deficiency and blood stasis group, combination of disease and syndrome group, and normal group, 5 rats in each group. The temperature, weight, heart rate, breathing rate and whole blood viscosity, casson viscosity of the rats in the two groups before and after modeling were observed. According to TCM clinical diagnosis criteria of kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome, TCM syndrome characteristics of the two groups were compared.ResultsCompared with normal groups and before modeling, rat temperature dropped and breathing rate increased in kidney deficiency and blood stasis group, combination of disease and syndrome group (P<0.05). Compared with normal group, rat weight decreased or grew slowly, and whole blood viscosity and casson viscosity increased (P<0.05, P<0.01). There were statistical significant differences in whole blood viscosity and electrocardiogram between the two groups (P<0.05).Conclusion There is no obvious difference between TCM syndrome characteristics of the two groups. They all meet the TCM clinical diagnosis criteria of kidney deficiency and blood stasis syndrome.
