Objective To investigate intra and inter species molecular variations and phylogeny of the five members of the Minimus Group of Anopheles subgenus Cellia in China: An. aconitus, An.varuna, An.jeyporiensis, An.minimus A and An.minimus C, and to report the DNA sequence divergence among these species at a mitochondrial locus (cytochrome oxidase II). Methods Single mosquito′s legs were digested to extract DNA. COII gene was amplified, sequenced and analysed; and the phylogenetic tree of members of An.minimus group was reconstructed by maximum likelihood method (DNAML). Results and Conclusion The data confirmed the presence of two cryptic species, A and C, within An.minimus complex in the research localities; and two species differed by 2.3% in the COII sequences owing to 16 nucleotide substitutions. There was less variation between the two species than other members of the Minimus Group.

Objective:To optimize the formula of film-forming materials for compound rhizoma corydalis plastics. Methods:Poly-vinyl alcohol 124 (PVA124) and bletilla striata gum were selected as the film-forming materials. The amounts of PVA 124, bletilla striata gum, glycerol and absolute ethanol were used as the influencing factors in an orthogonal test with the composite score of film-forming time and appearance as the indices to screen out the best composition of film-forming materials. Results:The best composition of film-forming materials was as follows:8 g PVA 124, 1 g bletilla striata gum, 2 ml glycerol and 15 ml ethanol. Conclusion:The op-timized film-forming materials can be used for the preparation of compound rhizoma corydalis plastics.

Objective To investigate the function of apoptosis in the renal injury by observing change of renal pathology and ultrastructure in the rat with obstructive jaundice(OJ) and if salvia miltiorrhiza(SM) can lighten the renal dysfunction of obstructive jaundice. Methods A total of 100 adult Sprague-Dawley rats were studied.Among them, the 80 models of obstructive jaundice were established by ligating bile duct(BDL),then divided into two groups: the OJ rats administered daily abdomen injections of SM(1.7g per rat) after operation of bile duct ligation(the SM group,n= 40);the OJ rats receiving only the same normal saline(the OJ group,n=40).The other rats with sham operation receiving only normal saline(the control group,n=20).Three groups of rats were sacrificed in groups at postoperation 1,2,3 and 4 week, respectively. Then serum BUN & Cr were tested and renal change of histopathology and ultrastructure were observed;Apoptosis of renal tissue were assayed by TUNEL method. Results With the time of BDL extending, the value of serum BUN & Cr increased;Apoptotic cells increased in renal tissue. After treatment with SM,the injury degree of renal function and histopathologic changes decreased. Conclusion Obstructive jaundice can lead to renal injury.Apoptosis had an important effect on renal function injury in the rat with obstructive jaundice.Salvia miltiorrhiza can ease the degree of renal function injury.

Objective:To optimize the extraction technology of tetrahydropalmatine in Corydalis yanhusuo. Methods:An L9 (34 ) orthogonal experiment was performed to investigate the effects of ethanol concentration, ethanol amount, extraction temperature and ex-traction time on the extraction results with the content of tetrahydropalmatine as the evaluation index. Results:The optimum conditions were as follows:the solid-liquid ratio was 1 :10 ( g·ml-1 ) , 60% ethanol was used as the extraction solvent, the extraction tempera-ture was at 80 ° C for three-time extraction, and the extraction duration for each time was 1 h. Conclusion: The optimized extraction technology for tetrahydropalmatine from Corydalis yanhusuo is stable, reasonable, feasible and easy-operated with low energy consump-tion, which can enhance the comprehensive utilization of Corydalis yanhusuo.

Objective Sylvian Veins morphology analysis contributes to cortex veins protection for clear surgical fields, a better choice for operation plan evaluation. Methods 33 cases diagnosed as epilepsy, male∶female=19∶14, mean ages 18.7y (9-52). Results 4 types of Sylvian Veins spreading were observed from the procession of functional surgery: long stem pattern 49%(16/33), short stem pattern 15%(5/33), long truncks pattern 33%(11/33), and absent stem pattern 3%(1/33). Conclusion Sylvian Veins morphology analysis shows that there exist 4 main patterns, which may contribute to functional surgery about frontal operculum, temporal operculum and insular lobe or intracranial electrode placement.

The stratum corneum barrier and the other issues in transdermal drug delivery system have attracted more and more at-tention, and the novel liposomes as the drug delivery vehicles effectively solve the problems. The novel liposomes can significantly im-prove transdermal drug penetration, therefore, can enhance efficacy and shows high application value and development prospects. In the paper, combined with some domestic and foreign current researches, the classification, penetration mechanisms and application of the novel liposomes were reviewed.

Objective: To investigate the effects of andrographolide on extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1/2 (ERK1/2) signaling pathway and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) expression in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated macrophages. Methods: LPS-activated mouse peritoneal macrophages were cultured in media with different concentrations of andrographolide. Cytotoxicity of andrographolide was detected by cell counting kit-8. The macrophages were lysed, and then expressions of phosphorylated ERK1/2, JNK and p38 and nuclear factor-κB inhibitor (IκBα) protein were detected by Western blotting and TNF-α mRNA expression was detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. Supernatants of the macrophages were used to detect content of TNF-α protein by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Results: Andrographolide at 1-100 μg/mL showed no cytotoxicity on LPS-activated mouse peritoneal macrophages. Andrographolide inhibited ERK1/2 phosphorylation in LPS-activated murine peritoneal macrophages, which was concentration-dependent (P<0.01). Andrographolide at 1-25 μg/mL had no effects on phosphorylation levels of JNK and p38 and IκBα degradation in LPS-stimulated mouse peritoneal macrophages. In activated macrophages, TNF-α expression was inhibited by 12 μg/mL andrographolide and 20 μmol/L PD98059 (inhibitor of ERK1/2 signaling pathway) at both mRNA expression and protein secretion levels. Conclusion: In LPS-activated macrophages, andrographolide may inhibit the expression of TNF-α by inhibiting ERK1/2 signaling pathway.

Objective To study the role of Anopheles anthropophagus in malaria transmission and transmission threshold so as to provide basis for vector surveillance and malaria control strategy. Methods Parasitological and entomological methods were used in the investigation at 5 villages of Xinyang City, Henan Province. Results From July to August, 1999, 74 febrile cases (10\^9% of the total population) were examined. Among them 50 were infected, the incidence in the population of surveyed spots was 7\^4%. Active detection was made in another randomly selected two villages and found that the parasite rate in the inhabitants was 2\^0%, and the positive rate of IFA was 8\^4%. Only vivax malaria was detected. An.anthropophagus and An.sinensis were collected, with An.anthropophagus as the predominant one in human dwellings. The estimated man\|biting rate and the human blood index were 4\^9388 and 0\^7858 respectively. The vectorial capacity of An. anthropophagus was 5\^5296. The critical man\|biting rate of An.anthropophagus was 0\^2407 as calculated by the formula (ma=-rlnP/abP\+n) according to Macdonald′s model. The local man\|biting rate was 20 times higher than that of the critical man\|biting rate. Conclusion The results demonstrated that An.anthropophagus is the principal vector in malaria transmission in the area. The findings imply that the critical man\|biting rate is of practicable importance in vector surveillance.
