Professor GAO Yuchun is considered as the key successor of GAO's academic school of acupuncture and moxibustion in Yanzhao region. Professor GAO's clinical experience of, "sequential acupuncture" is introduced in details in this article. In Professor GAO's opinions, appropriate acupuncture sequence is the key to satisfactory clinical effects during treatment. Based on different acupoints, sequential acupuncture can achieve the aim of qi following needles and needles leading qi; based on different symptoms, sequential acupuncture can regulate qi movement; based on different body positions, sequential acupuncture can harmonize qi-blood and reinforcing deficiency and reducing excess. In all, according to the differences of disease condition and constitution, based on the accurate acupoint selection and appropriate manipulation, it is essential to capture the nature of diseases and make the order of acupuncture, which can achieve the aim of regulating qi movement and reinforcing deficiency and reducing excess.

2.Analysis of clinical characteristics and prognostic factors of 253 lymphoma cases in Qinghai
Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2014;23(1):48-52
Objective To analyze the clinical features and prognostic factors of lymphoma. Methods The clinical data, pathologic data and survival state of 253 patients with lymphoma in Qinghai were retrospectively studied. The survival differences of patients with different clinical characteristics and laboratory tests were analyzed using Kaplan-Meier method. The prognostic factors of lymphoma were analyzed by Cox proportional hazards regression model. Results Among all of 253 cases of lymphoma, males were in the majority (male∶female =1.56∶1).The median age of patients was 48 years old. There were two peaks of about 40 years old and 60 years old in age of onset. The nodal lymphoma (56.13 %) was more commonly than the extranodal lymphoma (43.87 %).The more common extranodal lymphomas were found in the nasopharynx and gastrointestinal tract.Among all cases,40 cases (15.81%) were confirmed to be Hodgkin lymphoma (HL),of which, the commonest subtype was nodular sclerosis (72.5 %).While 213 of 253 cases (84.19 %) belonged to non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL),of which,B-cell lymphoma was 148 cases (69.48 %).Overall, three subtypes including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (39.91%),follicular lymphoma (12.21%) and peripheral T-cell lymphoma (9.39 %) were the commonest subtypes among all cases.Univariate analysis showed that the clinical stage,B symptoms,Hb concentration, serum LDH level, international prognostic score (IPI) and treatment programs were related to the prognosis of NHL (P < 0.05).However,the Cox regression multivariate analysis showed that only the clinical stage,IPI and treatment programs, not B symptoms,Hb concentration and serum LDH level, were closely related to the prognosis of NHL (P < 0.05).Conclusions In Qinghai area, there are two peaks of about 40 and 60 years old in the age of onset of lymphoma. The nodal lymphoma is more than extranodal lymphoma.B-cell lymphoma is more common.IPI could be as an independent prognostic factor and might be used to estimate the prognosis of NHL.

Objective To investigate the effects of Xuebijing injection on expression of myeloid cell triggering receptor-1(TREM-1)and the plasma levels of soluble TREM-1(sTREM-1),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α), interleukin-6(IL-6)in patients with severe sepsis. Methods Twenty patients with severe sepsis admitted into Critical Care Medicine Department,Affiliated Hospital of Nantong University were given comprehensive treatments according to the guidelines for management of severe sepsis and septic shock(2004),and they were divided into Xuebijing group and control group(each 20 cases). The Xuebijing injection group was given Xuebijing injection 50 mL,3 times daily for 5-7 days followed by regular treatments. The changes in blood TREM-1 mRNA expression and plasma concentrations of sTREM-1,TNF-α,and IL-6 were detected before and after treatments on the 3rd and 5th day,and the above indexes were compared between the two groups. Results Before treatments, there were no significant differences in TREM-1 mRNA expression and levels of sTREM-1,TNF-α,IL-6 between two groups (all P>0.05). The TREM-1 expression and plasma concentrations of sTREM-1,TNF-α,and IL-6 of two groups were declined after treatments compared to their baselines, the degree of decline being more prominent in Xuebijing group〔TREM-1 mRNA 3 days:1.065±0.277 vs. 1.217±0.301,t=-3.267,P=0.047;5 days:0.912±0.239 vs. 1.071±0.254,t=-5.072,P=0.032;sTREM-1(ng/L):146.93±13.76 vs. 176.22±19.46,t=-5.442,P=0.033;TNF-α(ng/L):77.51±11.28 vs. 107.72±13.17,t=-4.355,P=0.032;IL-6(ng/L):288.35±14.59 vs. 323.89± 24.51, t=-3.941,P=0.028〕. Conclusion Early implication of Xuebijing injection is of great significance in patients with severe sepsis,it may reduce the expression level of TREM-1 and serum levels of downstream inflammatory mediators, that is beneficial to the control of inflammatory responses and improvement of systemic inflammatory response syndrome in such patients.

As one of the important founders of GAO's acupuncture academic school in YanZhao area, Professor GAO Yuchun 's experience of acupuncture for headache is summarized in this paper. In the opinion of Professor GAO, the treatment of headache should focus on eliminating evil and relieving pain, and the syndrome differentiation should be based on meridian differentiation, especially on three yang meridians of foot as well as liver meridian and kidney meridian. In the acupoint prescription, attention should be placed on strengthening the spleen and stomach. The midnight-midday ebb flow acupuncture is advocated. The combination between acupuncture order and movement of qi is emphasized. In the manipulation, the role of pressing hand, the stimulation during reinforcing and reducing methods, and needle-retention time are important. The breathing reinforcing and reducing method of acupuncture are also advocated.

Objective To estimate the efficacy and safety of Voriconazole as antifungal prophylaxis of invasive fungal infection ( IFI) for malignant hematology patients. Methods The randomized controlled trials of Voriconazole treatment in invasive fungal infection for malignant hematology patients (ended in September 2014) were searched from Cochrane library, Medline, Embase, Pubmed, CBM, CNKI, Blood database. The meta analysis were performed by RevMan5.0. Results Ten literatures reported in 1 773 cases, in which there was significantly difference in effective rate between Voriconazole and other antifungal agents such as Amphotericin-B, Itraconazole, Micafungin and Fluconazole(P < 0.000 01); Four literatures indicated that there was significantly difference in adverse event rate between Voriconazole and amphotericin-B (P < 0.00 001); no significantly difference in adverse event rate between Voriconazole and amphotericin-B(P = 0.57); no significantly difference in adverse event rate between Voriconazole and Micafungin (P = 0.69); no significantly difference in adverse event rate between Voriconazole and Fluconazole (P = 0.70); Subgroup analysis indicated that adverse event rate between Voriconazole and Itraconazole is P=0.001, P = 0.17 respectively. Conclusion Voriconazole showed relative high efficient and low toxicity characteristics in treatment of malignant hematology accompanied by invasive fungal infection. But with its widely clinical application, the clinical value of Voriconazole needs to be further tested.
