Objective To explore the differences in the strength of the nodes in the brain white matter weighted networks between the male patients with paranoid schizophrenia and male healthy controls, and to analysis the integrity of the white matter fiber tracts that connected to the different brain regions and its relationship with the course of disease. Methods Diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) data were obtained from 25 male patients with paranoid schizophrenia and 26 male healthy controls. The whole brain was parcellated into 90 regions by using the anatomical label map. Tractography was performed in the whole brain of each subject to reconstruct white matter tracts using the FACT algorithm. The brain white matter weighted networks were then constructed using the complex network theory. Results The strength of the nodes in the networks of schizophrenia significantly decreased in the right thalamus (P=0.03, corrected) and the right hes?chl gyrus (P=0.04, corrected). Negative correlation was found between the strength of the right thalamus and the course of disease (r=-0.45, P=0.03). Conclusion The integrity of the white matter fiber tracts connected to the thalamus and tem?poral lobes in the male paranoid schizophrenia is impaired. The lesion of fiber tracts connected to the thalamus is related with the course of disease.

Objective To explore the influencing factors of job burnout among nurses in level 2 and level 3 hospitals in Guangdong province. Methods A total of 2 066 first line nurses from 133 medical, surgical and intensive care units (ICU) of 23 level 2 and level 3 hospitals in Guangdong province were surveyed employing the questionnaire Hospital Nursing Human Resources Research during December 2013 to August 2014. Results In the multivariate logistic regression models, each additional doctor per nurse was associated with 1.34 times increase in the likelihood of high level of emotional exhaustion(EE). Nurses had a 57.4%higher risk of high level of EE when they worked overtime. Every one point increase in ancillary service score, and every one more year working as a nurse was associated with 5.4%, 2.3%increase in the likelihood of high level of EE, respectively. Nurses were 42.1%,40.9%more likely to exhibit high level of depersonalization(DP) when they worked in medical units or hospitals of level 3, compared with nurses of surgical units and hospitals of level 2. Nurses had a 29.5%higher risk of high level of DP when they worked overtime. Nurses holding higher positions had a lower likelihood(37.7%) of high level of reduced personal accomplishment(PA) compared with nurses holding lower positions. Nurses in medical units or ICUs had a 31.2%, 51.6%higher risk of high level of PA than nurses in surgical units, respectively. Conclusions Job burnout of nurses is at a quite high level in level 2 and level 3 hospitals in Guangdong province. The probability of the occurrence of burnout is related to the hospital, unit and nurse characteristics and nursing workloads.

OBJECTIVETo reconstruct mandibular defect using tissue engineering bone with bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs) cell sheets and investigate the effect of cell sheets on osteogenesis.
METHODSBMSCs were isolated with the method of density gradient centrifugation from canine and cultured. BMSCs were induced to differentiate to osteoblasts. BMSCs induced were fabricated to BMSCs cell sheets. The poly (lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) wrapped with cell sheets were implanted into the mandibular defect in the left side (experimental side). PLGA wrapped without cell sheets were implanted into the right side (control side) of mandibles. 16 dogs were evenly divided into 4 groups, and one group of them was executed in 4, 8, 12, 16 weeks for gross investigation and histological observation.
RESULTSThe osteogenesis of experimental side was better than that of control side. 16 weeks after implantation, most areas of the mandibular defect were replaced by fresh bone tissue. Compact bone similar to normal bone tissue formed in the lingual defect of mandible and had bony union with the bone stump. The optical density of the fresh bone in the experimental side was higher than that of the control side, there was a significant difference between the two methods (P<0.05). Plenty of lamellar bones formed in experimental side and Haversian system, as well as red marrow, were observed.
CONCLUSIONTissue engineering bone with the structure of lamellar bones can be formed by the technology of BMSCs cell sheets.
