Objective To explore whether there is enough clinical evidence to confirm that hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) does more good than other treatments in treating patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Methods Published clinical trials on hyperbaric oxygen treatment for diabetic peripheral neuropathy were collected through electronic searches of PubMed, the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, EMbase, Science Citation Index Expanded, the China Biological Medicine Database (CBM-disc), the Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI) and the VIP Database for Chinese Technical Periodicals (from the date of establishment of the databases to July 2010). The bibliographies of the retrieved articles were also checked. Results A total of 7 trials involving 446 patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy were included. All studies reported positive results regarding the effects, but the quality of the studies was generally poor. The main problem was that most trials were reported as randomized and controlled, but with no description of the methods of randomization, concealment and blinding. Conclusions HBO in the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy is promising based on present evidence. However at present, definite conclusions cannot be drawn about whether hyperbaric oxygen treatment is superior to the alternatives for patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Higher quality randomized and controlled trials are required.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of Compound Yihe Tea on improving insulin resistance in obesity mice. Thirty-two male C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into 4 groups: the normal fat diet group(NFD group), high fat diet group(HFD group), Compound Yihe Tea low dosage group[20 mg/(kg ·d), YH-L group] and high dosage group[40 mg/(kg ·d), YH-H group]. NFD group was given standard feed, and the remaining mice were administered with high fat diet. After 6 weeks, YH-H and YH-L groups were given Compound Yihe Tea for 6 weeks. Blood glucose was measured at week 11 and serum levels of total cholesterol(TC), serum triglyceride(TG), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C)were measured at week 12. Liver tissues were prepared for oil red O and HE staining. Immunohistochemical analysis was used to test the protein expression of GLUT4 in liver. Protein expressions of PI3K, Akt and GLUT4 in epididymis white adipose tissue(WAT)were tested by Western blot. The results showed that Compound Yihe Tea could effectively reduce body weights and the serum levels of TC, TG and LDL-C. Furthermore Compound Yihe Tea could improve the histopathological changes of liver, up-regulate the protein expression of PI3K, Akt and GLUT4 in epididymis WAT and the protein expression of GLUT4 in liver. Compound Yihe Tea can reduce the fat accumulation in liver tissue, improve the indexes of blood glucose and lipid levels, and improve insulin resistance via PI3K-AKT-GLUT4 pathway.

Objective To summarize the experience of surgical treatment of ascending aortic aneurysms and aortic dissections. Methods From February 2001 to October 2005, 31 patients including 26 male, 5 female, aged 41.3 years old (range 14-72) received surgical management. Twenty cases were diagnosed as ascending aortic aneurysm and aortic root aneurysm, 8 as Standford A dissection, 3 as Stanford B dissection. Twenty-one patients underwent classic Bentall procedure in which VSD repair was carried out in 1 case, mitral valvoplasty in 2 and mitral valve replacement in 2; Four patients underwent modified Bentall procedure (coronary button technique); Three patients underwent Wheat procedure; The remaining 3 patients with Stanford B dissection underwent graft replacement of descending aorta. Results There was no death during hospital stay that lasted 13-46 d with an average of 16.4 d after operation. The mean clinical follow-up was (21?18.5) months (range 1-63 months). One patient died without describable cause two years later. One patient had ascending aorta-pulmonary artery fistula at color Doppler examination half a year later. One patient was detected rupture of distal anastomoses half a year after operation and underwent stent-graft, SG. Conclusion The surgical treatment of aortic aneurysms and aortic dissections could be carried out safely based on the accurate diagnosis, specific surgical strategy and fine technique.

To observed the prevention efficacy of secretory otitis media after radiation therapy by the Myrtol Standardized Enteric Coated Soft Capsules.
METHOD:
Sixty patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma who Diagnosis without secretory otitis media before radiation therapy were divided into experimental group and control group, 30 cases in each group. After the start of radiation therapy ,the experimental group patients oral the Myrtol Standardized Enteric Coated Soft Capsules, each 0.3 g, 3 times a day, 7 days a course of treatment, oral the medication three months, the patients in the control group received no treatment. 3 months and 6 months after the end of radiation therapy, whether there is a difference comparison of experimental group and the control group in symptoms, signs, pure tone audiometry and tympanogram change.
RESULT:
Seventeen patients (18 ears) (56.67%, 17/30) in the control group were suffering from secretory otitis media, 7 patients (7 ears) (23.33%, 7/30) in the experimental group were suffering from secretory otitis media. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.01). 17 patients (17 ears) in the control group and 7 patients (7 ears) in the experimental group were suffering from tinnitus. 20 patients(20 ears) in the control group and 9 patients (10 ears) in the experimental group have ear choking feeling. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.01). The air conduction hearing threshold of the experimental group before radiation therapy is (7.5 +/- 2.0) dB HL and the air conduction hearing threshold of the control group patients is (8.3 +/- 4.0) dB HL. The difference between the two groups was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). 3 months after radiation therapy, the gas conductive hearing threshold of the experimental group is (25.6 +/- 3.0) dB HL, but the data in the control group is (40.7 +/- 5.0) dB HL. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSION
Patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma oral the the Myrtol Standardized Enteric Coated Soft Capsules before radiation therapy can effectively reduce the incidence of secretory otitis media after radiotherapy, it can prevent the occurrence of secretory otitis media.

Objective:To collect data on urinary flow rate in the elderly female population across the country and to analyze the range of reference values. Methods:This study enrolled 333 subjects from July 2020 to June 2022.The study implementation process was divided into two steps. In the first step, subjects completed an electronic questionnaire, which included basic information about the subject, a short form for urinary incontinence, and a scoring form for the symptoms of overactive bladder syndrome. In the second step, the staff introduced the use of a mobile uroflowmetric device and distributed the instrument and materials.Uroflow rate data were automatically uploaded to a cloud database via the mobile phone.Subsequently, two or more physicians specializing in urinary control performed Uroflow rate-qualifying screenings and conducted statistical analyses. Results:A total of 333 subjects were enrolled in the study, and the researchers collected 1375 qualified urine flow rate records using a mobile urine flow rate instrument. The age of the subjects ranged from 60 to 84 years, with a mean age of 69 years. The reference ranges for urinary flow rate were found to be 24.8-26.2 s, with a mean urinary flow rate of 12.2-12.9 ml/s, a maximum urinary flow rate of 22.2-23.4 ml/s, and a time to peak of 8.5-9.7 s. The study observed a tendency for both maximal and mean urinary flow rates to decrease in older women as their age increased(Pearson correlation coefficient: -0.1, P<0.001). Conclusions:The uroflow rate of older women decreases with aging.Specifically, the average uroflow rate of women over 80 years old is lower than that of other age groups. This study aims to establish normal uroflow parameters for uroflowmetry in healthy older women in China.
