Microbiology 2008;0(09):-
The concentration of airborne microbes in summer tourism season in Huangshan Scenic Spot was measured by fallen plate method at l4 collection sites. The study on the community structure and distribution characteristics of outdoor airborne microbes was carried out. The results showed that the average concentra- tion of the bacteria, fungi and total microbes in the outdoor environment were 0.41?104 CFU/m3, 0.34? 104 CFU/m3 and 0.75?104 CFU/m3 respectively, and the average percentage of fungi of the total was 45.9%. These indicated that the outdoor air had been polluted by airborne microbes. The preliminary identification was made on the bacteria and fungi at different sampling sites and the results showed that the dominant bac- teria mainly belonged to Bacillus, Staphylococcus, Micrococcus and Pseudomonas, and the average per- centage of the total amount of the bacteria was 37.7%, 17.2%, 10.1% and 9.8% respectively; the dominant fungi belonged to Cladosporium, Mycelia sterilia, Penicillium and Alternaria, and the average percentage of the total amount of the fungi were 40.4%, 35.0%, 5.6% and 4.3% respectively. The results indicated that thedistribution characteristics of air microbes are affected not only by topographical and climatic characteristics, but also by factors such as tourist activities, animals and plants.

Objective To explore the therapeutic effect of phenylethanoid glycosides on cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced dyszoospermia in mice and to preliminary elucidate the mechanisms involved in the process. Methods Phenylethanoid glycoside was extracted by ethanol extraction.Forty male BALB/C mice were randomly divided into control group, model group, low dose of phenylethanoid glycosides group (50 mg· kg-1 )and high dose of phenylethanoid glycosides group (100 mg·kg-1 ).Except control group, the dyszoospermia mouse model was established by peritoneal injection of CTX at the daily dose of 80 mg· kg-1 ,once daily for successive 5 d. After modeling, phenylethanoid glycosides were intragastrically administered at corresponding doses to each phenylethanoid glycosides group.Equal volume of normal saline was given to the mice in control group and model group by gastrogavage. All the medication was performed once daily for successive 30 d.The testis tissue was obtained 24 h after the last intragastric administration. The level of testosterone in the testis tissue homogenate was determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. The sperm counts, the motility rates, and the teratospermia rates in various groups were compared. The morphological changes of the testis tissue were observed using HE staining. Results Compared with control group, the sperm count and the motility rate were decreased, the teratospermia rate was increased, and the testosterone level in the testis tissue homogenate was decreased in model group(P<0.01).Compared with model group, the sperm counts and the motility rates were increased, the teratospermia rates were decreased, and the testosterore levels in the testis tissue homogenate were increased in phenylethanoid glycosides groups (P<0.05 or P<0.01).The histological results showed atrophy and degeneration of seminiferous tuble, thicker seminiferous epithelium and azoospermic lumina in model group;the number of seminiferous epithelial layers was increased and the seminiferous cells orderly arranged, and many sperms were found in the tubules in phenylethanoid glycosides groups. Conclusion Phenylethanoid glycosides has obviously therapeutical effect on CTX-induced dyszoospermia in mice, and its mechanisms might be correlated with recovering the testosterone level.

SUMOylation is a post - translational modification consisting of covalent conjugation of ubiquitin - like proteins called small ubiquitin related modifier ( SUMO ) . SUMO modification has been shown to significantly alter protein activity, which can modulate protein stability, affect protein-protein interactions, and modify protein localization and trafficking. This process adds another layer of control in eukaryote gene expression, and it regulates both transcriptional activation and repression. This article reviews the current situation and future development of SUMOylation in ophthalmology.

10 mU/L (GroupⅡ,71 cases) when they were one year old. There were 40 healthy children in control group. The genomic DNA from the peripheral blood was extracted and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and sequencing were employed to detect the IL-12B gene 3′UTR+1188 SNP.Results The frequency of AA,AC and CC genotype in GroupⅠwere 25.7%,44.3% and 30.0% respectively, and 36.6%, 47.9% and 15.5% in GroupⅡ,48.8%,39.0%,12.2%,in control group, respectively. The differ- ence of frequency of CC genotype and non-CC genotype between GroupⅠand GroupⅡwas significant (x~2=17.078,P

Objective Utilization of proteome method,by observing differences on protein expression of hypothalamus in the hyperthyroidism rats with hyperactivity of liver-yang and normal rats,to search the differential protein. Methods Models of animal were prepared by ip L-T4 and Fuzi Decoction. Both the quantitative and qualitative changes of the protein expression were compared between model group and treated group by protein technique. Results Proteins were mainly displayed at range of pI 3~8,Mr(14.4~75)kD.18 protein increased and 24 protein decreased in model group compared with treated group, included Thioredoxin,Ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase isozyme L1,Platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase IB gamma subunit, glutamate dehydrogenase,dihydropyrimidinase-related protein 2, NSFL1 cofactor p47,Tubulin beta 5.Conc(?)sion There were 18 spots high expressed and 24 spots low expressed in the hyperthyroidism with hyperactivity of liver-yang,that maybe related with the develepment of the hyperthyroidism with hyperactivity of liver-yang.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2011;29(9):831-833
BackgroundPosterior capsule opacification(PCO) is the main cause inducing low vision after extacapsular cataract extraction. Our previous study determined that polylysine-ethylene diamine tetraacetic acid (EDTA) (PLE) can suppress the incidence of PCO. ObjectiveThe goal of this experiment was to investigate the inhibition of polylysine-EDTA on rabbit lens epithelial cells (LECs)proliferation in vitro and the effective concentrations of polylysine-EDTA. MethodsThe anterior capsular membranes from 10 3-month-old clean New Zealand white rabbits were digested and then cultured to obtain the LECs. The second and third generation of LECs were inoculated on the 96-hole culture plate with the cell density of the 1 × 105/ml. 12.5,25.0,50. 0,100. 0 μmol/Lof PLE were added into the culture medium for 48 hours respectively, and the DMSO medium was used at the same way as the control group. The proliferation of the LECs was then detected by MTT method and the inhibitory rate of PLE on LECs growth was calculated. ResultsLECs grew at a near normal state in ≤25.0 μmol/L PLE groups, however, cultured LECs were out of shape and the numbers decreased with the weakened adhesion ability in ≥50.0 μ mol/L PLE groups. The A490 values of LECs were 0. 278±0. 013,0. 266±0. 028,0. 260±0. 022 and 0. 247±0. 012 in 12. 5,25.0,50. 0, 100. 0 μmol/L polylysine-EDTA groups respectively and were lower than 0. 311 ±0. 038 of DMSO control group( P=0. 035,0. 011,0. 009,0.013 ). The inhibitory rates of 12. 5,25.0,50. 0, 100.0 μmoL/L PLE on LECs proliferation were 10.61% , 14.47% , 16.40% and 20. 58% respectively. ConclusionsPolylysine-EDTA can inhibit the growth and proliferation of LECs in vitro at a dose-dependent manner.
