To study the association of serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 level with urine albumin-to-ereatinine ratio in 193 type 2 diabetic patients.Multivariate linear regression demonstrated that serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 level was an independent risk factor in predicting urine albumin excretion level in type 2 diabetic patients(β =-0.02,95％CI -0.04 - -0.01,P＜0.01 ).

Objective To examine the relationship between plasma soluble interleukin 2 receptor(sIL2R), bone metabolism markers, and bone mineral densities in female patients with Graves′ disease(GD), and to explore the role of sIL2R in bone metabolism of GD.Methods This study included 201 female GD patients.FT3, FT4, TSH, PTH, osteocalcin(OCN), C-terminal telopeptides of type Ⅰ collagen (CTX), procollagen type I N-terminal propeptide(PINP), and 25-(OH)-vitamin D(25OHD) were measured using electrochemical luminescence technique.sIL2R was measured using chemiluminescence method.All pations underwent examinations of bone mineral densities at lumbar spine, total hip, and femoral neck(LS-BMD, TH-BMD, and FN-BMD).The associations of sIL2R with bone metabolism markers and bone mineral densities were analyzed.Results OCN,CTX,PINP gradually decreased across the tertile groups of LS-BMD, TH-BMD, FN-BMD(all P<0.05).FT3, sIL2R gradually increased across the tertile groups of OCN, CTX, PINP(all P<0.05).Multiple linear regression analysis showed that sIL2R was independently associated with OCN and CTX(both P<0.05).Conclusion The increase of bone turnover leads to bone loss in female GD patients.The plasma level of sIL2R was positively correlated to bone turnover, which indicated that sIL2R may play an important role in bone metabolism of GD.

Objective To evaluate osteoporosis and the bone turnover markers in patients with Graves′ disease(GD) and the association of bone turnover markers including serum osteocalcin ( OCN ),I procollagen Nterminal propeptide( PINP),serum alkaline phosphatase ( ALP),and β- I collagen carboxyl-terminal peptide ( β-CTX)with thyroid hormone levels.Methods A total of 163 patients with Graves′ disease were enrolled.Serum thyroid hormone,OCN,PINP,and β-CTX levels were measured by the method of ethchemiluminescence.Serum ALP,calcium,phosphorus,and urinary calcium/creatinine ratio were measured by automatic biochemical system.Bone mineral density ( BMD ) of lumbar spines 1-4 ( L 1-4 ) and the proximal left femur was detected by dual energy xray absorptiometry.Results GD cases enrolled were composed of 43 men (26.4％ )and 120 women ( 73.6％ ),with an average age of ( 47 ± 1 ) years.There were 126 cases ( 77.3％ ) with normal BMD,and 37 cases ( 22.7％ ) with osteoporosis.OCN,ALP,PINP,β-CTX,and free T3 levels were significantly higher in the group of osteoporosis than those in the group with normal BMD( P＜0.05 or P＜0.01 ) after adjusting for sex,age,and BMI.The levels of OCN,P1NP,and β-CTX were positively correlated with serum FT3 level ( all P＜0.01 ) and were also progressively increased according to the quartile groups of FT3 levels ( P＜0.01 ) after sex,age,and BMI were adjusted.Conclusion Patients with Graves′ disease had a high incidence of osteoporosis with characristic high rate of bone turnover,which is related to the raised thyroid hormone levels.

Through study on Bianque Shenying Zhenjiu Yulong Jing (Bianque's Classic of Effective Acupuncture Prescriptions), acupuncture experiences and ideology of WANG Guo-rui, an acupuncture physician of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), is discussed in this article. Inherited and carried forward DOU's acupuncture theory, WANG Guo-rui encouraged to use experiential points and to expand extra points. Penetrating needling method was created, and the application of acupoints according to needling opportunities and seasonal factors were enriched by him. Great importance was also attached on treatment according to differentiation of syndromes, which including the simultaneous acupuncture and moxibustion, simultaneous reinforcing and reducing, reducing after reinforcing, reinforcing after reducing, predomination of reducing and predomination of reinforcing. The flexible treating methods are still extensively adopted in clinic nowadays. WANG Guo-rui is a master of clinical acupuncture who made great contribution to the development of acupuncture and moxibustion.

Objective To investigate the value of nuchal translucency(NT) thickening in the fetal chromosome abnormality screening.Methods The 14 881 pregnant women received NT measurement in 11-13 +6 weeks at Beijing Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital from January 2010 to August 2012.The 118 fetuses whose NT≥2.5 mm were recruited.One hundred and eight (91.5％,108/118)of them accepted invasive procedure and karyotype analysis.Results (1) Chromosome karyotype analysis:113 singleton pregnancies (95.8％) and 5 twin pregnancies (4.2％) whose NT thickened from 2.5 mm to 11.0 mm were advised karyotype analysis.The 108 pregnant women accepted karyotype analysis.Among them,88 had normal chromosome karyotype,and 20 had chromosome abnormalities.The detection rate was 18.5 ％ (20/108).(2) The sensitivity,specificity,false positive rate,false negative rate,total consistent rate,positive predictive value and negative predictive value of prenatal screening of chromosome abnormalities for NT ≥ 2.5 mm were 44％,99％,1％,56％,99％,19％ and 100％,respectively.(3) Among the 88 fetuses who had normal karyotype,72 (82％) had isolated thickened NT,while 16 (18％) had fetal structural malformation or intrauterine demise.(4) Among the 10 pregnant women who did not accept fetal karyotype analysis,8 terminated pregnancy because of fetal structural malformation,and the other 2 fetuses died in uterus.(5)All of the 5 twin pregnancies were dichorionic twins,and one of the twins had thickened NT.Among the 5 twin pregnancies,one fetus was trisomy 21 and others had normal karyotype.3 twin pregnancies who had normal chromosomes gave live birth.And the other had a gastroschisis and exstrophy deformity fetuse.This fetuse died in uterus and remaining fetuse had full-term live birth.(6) 35 (29.7％) pregnant women received second trimester Down's syndrome serum screening.One was high risk and was proved a trisomy 21 pregnancy.Thirty-four were low risk and had normal chromosome karyotype.Conclusion NT thickening may indicate fetal chromosome abnormalities or other structural malformations.It is a useful prenatal screening indicator.

microRNAs (miRNAs) are short non-protein-coding RNAs,which play important roles in the cell proliferation,differentiation,apoptosis,as well as activation of oncogenic and antioncogenic signals.Researches show that the abnormal expressions of miRNAs are closely related to the tumorigenesis,histological type,diagnosis,treatment and prognosis of lung cancer.So miRNAs may be the most potential and promising therapeutic targets for lung cancer.

Objective To observe the efficacy of imatinib on the treatment of bcr-abl positive essential thrombocythemia (ET). Methods A case of bcr-abl positive ET resistant to hydroxyurea (HU) treating with imatinib (200～400 mg/d) was reported and related literatures were reviewed. Results A case of bcr-abl positive ET was initially treated with 1.5～2.0 g/d HU, the platelet count decreased to 562x109/L after 4 weeks; however, the platelet count increased to (1020～1330)×109/L treating with same dose of HU 16 months later. With the elevation of HU to 3.0 g/d, platelet count was still high(1290～1780)x109/L companied with the very low white blood cell count(0.3～0.9)×109/L. While treating with imatinib (400 mg/d) for 1 month,the platelet count decreased to 390×109/L and white blood cell count was 0.5×109/L; Furthermore, treating with 200×300 mg/d of imatinib, the platelet and white blood cell count recovered in normal after 1 month,and bcr-abl fusion gene negative 2 months later. Conclusion Imatinib may be the effective targeting drug for the bcr-abl positive ET, and the bcr-abl positive ET is sensitive to low dose imatinib.

Objective To explore the risk factors of prehypertension and the relationship between blood pressure and atherosclerosis.Methods The data of 456 cases in the Department of General Medicine were cross-sectional analyzed,including 174 subjects with normotension and 282 with prehypertension.The information was consisted of demographic characteristics,blood pressure,blood biochemical metabolism index,brachia-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV),ankle-brachial index (ABI) and carotid intima media thickness (CIMT).Results Compared to normotension group,the levels of systolic pressure,diastolic pressure,pulse pressure,body mass index,fasting blood glucose,glycosylated hemoglobin,triglyceride,uric acid,and C-reactive protein in prehypertension group were significantly increased (P ＜ 0.05) ; and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol was significantly decreased (P ＜0.05) ; the body mass index(OR =1.185),triglyceride(OR =1.302),and fasting blood sugar (OR =1.690) were the independent risk factors of prehypertension ; baPWV and CIMT in prehypertension group were higher,but ABI and artery atheromatous plaque rate were not obvious changed.When baPWV or CIMT were set as the dependent variables,multiple linear regression analysis showed that systolic blood pressure(β =0.226,P =0.007),fasting blood glucose(β =0.209,P =0.018),and age(β =0.279,P =0.002) were risk factors of baPWV;systolic blood pressure(β =0.118,P =0.015),body mass index(β =0.109,P =0.001),and age(β =0.396,P =0.001) were risk factors of CIMT.Conclusions Body mass index,triglycerides,and fasting blood sugar were the independent risk factors of prehypertension.The early subclinical damage of hardening of the arteries was occurred in the prehypertension cases,and systolic blood pressure was closely related with baPWV or CIMT.

SUMOylation is a post - translational modification consisting of covalent conjugation of ubiquitin - like proteins called small ubiquitin related modifier ( SUMO ) . SUMO modification has been shown to significantly alter protein activity, which can modulate protein stability, affect protein-protein interactions, and modify protein localization and trafficking. This process adds another layer of control in eukaryote gene expression, and it regulates both transcriptional activation and repression. This article reviews the current situation and future development of SUMOylation in ophthalmology.
