4.Anti-tumor activity and its mechanism of lycopene
Journal of International Oncology 2013;(4):264-267
Lycopene is an important natural carotenoid, and is widely found in human tissues and blood, with the prevention of many types of cancer,anti-aging effect. It can inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells of oral malignancy, and increasing of gap-junction communication between cells to prevent oral cancer, and also can inhibit the development of colorectal cancer by reducing the activity of matrix metalloproteinase. It plays the role of anti-metastasis through enhancing the expression of anti-metastatic gene nm23-H1.
5.Progression of microRNA in gastric cancer
Journal of International Oncology 2013;(5):359-362
Recently, many studies find that microRNA plays a key role in the development, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of gastric cancer. It is confirmed that miR-451 can be used as a useful biomarker for the screening of gastric cancer.Studies also show that miR-203 and miR-21 may become diagnostic markers of gastric cancer.MicroRNA can play the role of oncogenes, and also can play the role of tumor suppressor gene, such as miR-141 plays the role of tumor suppressor gene through inhibition of the positive fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 gene expression.
6.Detection of 16S rRNA methylase gene in gram-negative bacteria
Chinese Journal of Infection and Chemotherapy 2009;09(4):267-271
Objective To investigate the prevalence of 16S rRNA methylase genes, armA and rmtB, which mediate high level aminoglycoside resistance, in gram-negative bacteria isolated from 2 hospitals in Dalian and study the mechanism of aminoglycoside resistance. Methods A total of 134 amikacin-resistant clinical isolates of gram-negative bacteria were collected. Two 16S rRNA methylase genes, armA and rmtB, were identified by PCR-based assays. PCR products were extracted for DNA sequencing analysis. armA and rmtB gene mapping were conducted by plasmid extraction, conjugation and transformation. The MICs of amikacin, gentamicin and tobramycin were determined for the positive isolates, transconjugants and the resultant strain of transformation using agar dilution technique. Results Overall armA was identified in 21 strains of Acinetobacter baumannii, rmtB in 5 strains of Escherichia coli and 5 strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae. Plasmid extraction and conjugation experiments were only successful for rmtB-positive isolates. Transconjugant and DH5a (pMDarmA) exhibited high-level resistance to aminoglycosides. Conclusions The 16S rRNA methylase genes, armA and rmtB are identified in Dalian. armA gene is identified in A. baumannii. rmtB gene is located on the plasmid of E. coli and K. pneumoniae. armA and rmtB can induce high-level resistance to aminoglycosides.
7.Oxidative stress - mitochondrial dysfunction and the relationship with retinal ganglion cell apoptosis
International Eye Science 2015;(2):238-241
Mitochondria play an important role in energy ( ATP ) production through oxidative phosphorylation pathway and the regulation of cell death by apoptosis. Mitochondrial dysfunction has been implicated in the pathophysiology of a number of neurodegenerative diseases. Glaucoma as a neurodegenerative disorder, mitochondrial oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of glaucoma and the damage of RGCs has received close attention in recent years. ln this article, we reviewed the current evidences and recent advances in the relationship between mitochondrial oxidative stress and the RGCs apoptosis.
8.Toxicity and property of basic Uighur materia medica: a review
Chinese Journal of Pharmacology and Toxicology 2017;31(6):508-513
Uihgur medicine is not only an important component of medicine for ethnic minorities in China, but an vital supplement to modern medicine. With the development of modern science,in recent years good progerss has been made in basic sciences and applied research of Uighur medicine.According to the property of Uighur materia medica, medicine can be divided into hot,cold,wet,dry,dry-hot,wet-hot,wet-cold,and dry-cold types, and according to strength of medicinal properties, this medicine is divided into four classes. Most of the drugs of levels 3 and 4 are credited with toxicity. This article summarizes the property and toxicity of medicines of levels 3 and 4 which are includel in Pharmaceutical Standards-Uighur Medicine (1998) edited by the former State Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China.
9.Consideration on non-clinical safety evaluation of traditional Chinese medicine
Chinese Journal of Pharmacology and Toxicology 2016;30(12):1343-1358
Safety, efficacy and quality control are the three essential elements for drugs, including traditional Chinese medicine(TCM). Currently, rapid development of life sciences, medicine and phar?macy provides new prospects for TCM. Considering the long history of TCM application, modern phar? macology and toxicology, global standards and expectations on the safety of TCM, how to evaluate the safety of TCM scientifically has become a key to the research and development of TCM. This review aims to discuss current technical requirements of non-clinical safety study of TCM as well as the challenges.
10.Epidemiologic characteristics, risk factors and safety evaluation of traditional Chinese medicine induced liver injury
Chinese Journal of Pharmacology and Toxicology 2016;30(4):291-305
There have been increasing reports on liver injury induced by traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and natural medicine in recent years. The risk of liver injury induced by TCMs has attracted more attention at home and abroad. In this paper, epidemiologic characteristics, risk factors, clinical features of TCMs induced liver injury were discussed. The myth about research and safety evaluation of TCMs induced liver injury was analyzed. Based on the property of TCMs and characteristics of their clinical use, this paper proposed the priorities of basic and clinical safety evaluation of TCMs induced liver toxicity. It is hoped that this study may provide reference for scientific evaluation of liver toxicity of TCMs.
