AIM: To explored the treatment effects of retinal laser photocoagulation and the applications of color Doppler flow imaging(CDFI) in the diabetic retinopathy.METHODS: We collected 60 patients(120 eyes) with diabetic retinopathy(Ⅲ~Ⅳstage) from February 2013 to February 2014 in Anyang Eye Hospital admitted in fundus disease department.The health control (HC) group of 55 normal people was established simultaneously.Ocular blood flow velocity of the 55 normal people (110 eyes) and the 60 patients (120 eyes) was examined by CDFI of central retinal artery (CRA) and posterior ciliary artery (PCAs) using the PHILIPS HD6.Peak systolic velocity(PSV) was recorded.The examinations of CDFI, electroretinogram(ERG) and the vision were performed in pre-operation, 1,7d, 1, 3 and 6mo postoperatively.RESULTS: Compared the PSV of CRA of the DR group before and after photocoagulation to the data of the HC group, there was a significant difference(P<0.05);compared the PSV of CRA of the DR group after photocoagulation with the data before, there was a significant difference(P<0.05).Compared the PSV of PCAs of the DR group before and after photocoagulation to the data of the HC group, there was a significant difference(P<0.05);compared the PSV of PCAs of the DR group after photocoagulation with the data before, there was a significant difference at 1d postoperatively(P<0.05), there was no significant difference at 7d, 1, 3 and 6mo(P>0.05).Compared the aA and bA of ERG of the DR group before and after photocoagulation to the data of the HC group, there was a significant difference(P<0.05).Compared the aA and bA of ERG of the DR group after photocoagulation with the data before, there was a significant difference(P<0.05).Compared the aT and bT of ERG of the DR group before and after photocoagulation to the data of the HC group, there was a significant difference(P<0.05);compared the aT and bT of ERG of the group DR after photocoagulation with the data before, there was no significant difference(P>0.05).The vision of 49 cases(98 eyes) was improved 1 to 3 rows, the effective rate was 82%.The vision of 11 cases(22 eyes) remained constant.CONCLUSION: Retinal laser photocoagulation is an effective treatment to diabetic retinopathy patients, which can significantly reduce the peak systolic velocity of the central retinal artery, improve and stabilize the condition, protect visual function in long-term clinical effect.Color doppler flow imaging can observe the changes of ocular vessel flow velocity in diabetic` eyes noninvasively, repeatedly and in real time, providing a basis for clinical treatments.

Objective: To learn the health literacy level and its influencing factors among junior high school students in Jiaxing, so as to provide basis for health promotion of adolescents. Methods: The junior high school students who had been studying and living in Jiaxing for more than six months were selected by multistage cluster random sampling method. A questionnaire survey was conducted to collect general information and health literacy level (including basic knowledge and concept, healthy lifestyle and behaviors, and basic skills) of these selected students. The multivariate logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors for health literacy. Results : Of 1 773 questionnaires collected, 1 738 were valid, accounting for 98.03%. The level of health literacy in the junior high school students in Jiaxing was 22.84% ( 95%CI: 20.87%-24.82% ), The levels of basic knowledge and concept, healthy lifestyle and behaviors, and basic skills were 55.29% ( 95%CI: 52.95%-57.63% ), 21.75% ( 95%CI: 19.81%-23.69% ), 53.05% ( 95%CI: 50.70%-55.40%), respectively. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the second grade and above ( OR: 1.609-1.835, 95%CI: 1.195-2.459 ), mother's educational level of technical secondary school/senior high school and above ( OR: 1.965-1.976, 95%CI: 1.276-3.357 ), and self-rated academic achievement of medium and above ( OR: 1.881-2.441, 95%CI: 1.359-3.335 ) were the promoting factors for health literacy level of junior high school students; self rated health status as unhealthy ( OR=0.254, 95%CI: 0.089-0.721 ) was an obstructive factor. Conclusions The health literacy level of the junior high school students in Jiaxing was 22.84%. The level of healthy lifestyle and behaviors was the lowest in three aspects. Grade, mother's educational level, self-rated academic performance and self-rated health status may have impacts on health literacy level of junior high school students.

This paper discusses the relationship between stimulating pulse width and the threshold of electrically evoked compound action potential (ECAP). Firstly, the rheobase and chronaxy from strength-duration curve of nerve fiber was computed using the shepherd's experiment results. Secondly, based on the relationship between ECAP and the action potential of nerve fiber, a mathematical expression to describe the relationship between stimulating pulse width and ECAP threshold was proposed. Thirdly, the parameters were obtained and the feasibility was proved to the expression with the results of experiment using guinea pigs. Research result showed that with ECAP compared to the action potential of nerve fiber, their threshold function relationship with stimulating pulse width was similar, and rheobase from the former was an order smaller in the magnitude than the latter, but the chronaxy was close to each other. These findings may provide meaningful guidance to clinical ECAP measurement and studying speech processing strategies of cochlear implant.

Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of uterine arterial embolization (UAE) as a treatment of symptomatic uterine fibroids(UF).Methods Twenty-six patients with clinic symptoms(menorrhagia, pelvic pain, bulk-related symptoms and anemia)caused by uterine fibroids underwent UAE.The embolization with a single catheter using the single-femoral artery approach to bilateral uterine artery was performed, injection of PVA 355～500 ?m and silk particles were used in 20 and 6 cases respectively.Results All cases were followed up for 6 to 18 months after treatment.The symptoma were noticeable improvement in 24 cases but 2 cases whom with injection silk particles.The tumors were marked diminution in size(45%～75%) sonographically after 2～6 months in 13 cases.No severe complication were discovered in all cases.Conclusion Uterine artery embolization is a safe and effective method for the management of symptomatic UF.Longer follow up is needed to evaluate the long term effects.

OBJECTIVETo explore the scientificity of Yunqi theory based on incidence of disease related recognitions such as year evolutive phase, host climatic qi, six climatic factors, celestial manager qi, qi in the earth by analyzing data of hypertension incidence.

METHODSA total of 1,265 inpatients with confirmed first diagnosis as hypertension were recruited at Dongzhimen Hospital, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from February 4, 1999 to February 4, 2011. Each period (including year evolutive phase, host climatic qi, guest climatic qi) was deducted based on Yun-qi theory. Their ratios of different phases and qi in the total number of hypertension inpatients number were calculated and statistically tested.

RESULTSThere was statistical difference in ratios at year evolutive phase, celestial manager qi, and qi in the earth (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe incidence of hypertension has certain difference in each period, which is consistent with Yun-qi theory.

Objective:To investigate the adhesion,proliferation and differentiation of the stem cells from human exfoliated deciduous teeth(SHEDs)on 3 different types of hydroxyapatite(HA)composite scaffold materials.Methods:Pulp cells from human exfoliated de-ciduous teeth were harvested from impacted deciduous teeth by enzyme digestion,expanded and cultured.Cells were verified by immuno-histochemical methods and in vitro differentiation test.Then the cells were cultured on HA/beta tricalcium phosphate (HA/TCP),HA/collagen (HA/COL)and HA/poly-ethylene propylene lactide (HA/PLGA)scaffold respectively.Adhesion rate was examined at hour 4,6,8 and 10 of culture,proliferation was observed by MTT assay on day 1,4,7 and 10 of culture,respectively.The osteogenic dif-ferentiation was studied by alkaline phosphatase(ALP)test,Von Kossa staining and calcium content measur.Results:The attachment of SHEDs was significantly lower on the HA/COL than on the other 2 scaffolds(P <0.05).The ALP activity,mineralization and calci-um content were the highest on HA/PLGA,and the last on HA/COL(P <0.05).Conclusion:HA/PLGA scaffold is more effective in the promotion of the proliferation,attachment and differentiation of SHEDs than HA/TCP and HA/COL scaffolds.

Objective To investigate the intermediate and long-term efficacy of endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) for early esophageal cancer(EEC).Methods A total of 56 patients with EEC underwent ESD at Jiangsu Province People's Hospital between April 2010 and June 2015.Among the 56 cases,there were 39 cases of intramucosal cancer,17 cases of submucosal cancer.Intravascular cancer embolus was found in 2 patients.The en bloc and complete resection rates,the residual,local tumor recurrence and new occurrence rates of EEC after ESD were evaluated.The average follow-up time was 24.4 months,ranging from 1 to 62 months.Results The en bloc and complete resection rates were 92.9％(52) and 87.5％ (49),respectively.Four patients were treated by additional esophagectomy.The cases of residual lesions,local tumor recurrence,new occurrence and second primary extra-esophageal cancer (gastric cancer) was 1 (1.8％),2 (3.6％),2 (3.6％) and 2 (3.6％),respectively.No additional surgical operations were performed in the 7 patients or no recurrence was found,and there was no death during the follow-up period.Conclusion ESD has the advantage of high complete resection rate,low residual and local tumor recurrence rate in treatment of EEC,and the intermediate and long-term outcomes are satisfactory.

The strain Acidiphilium cryptum DX1-1 producing PHB was irradiated respectively by UV and Co60 to raise PHB production. The results indicated that the effect of UV better than using Co60. One strain of the UV mutagenized called UV60-3 has the highest PHB production yield, showing final PHB concentra- tion of 28.56 g/L, 1.45 times higher than that of original strain. FT-IR spectroscopy analysis shows that the polymers obtained from the strain DX1-1 have the same IR spectra of standard PHB. Further research about the best appropriate C/N ratio of the mutant was done. The optimum ratio of C/N was about 3.76, the final PHB concentration reaches to 30.57 g/L.
