Objective To understand the actual psychological conditions of pregnant patients with gynecologic malignancies during chemotherapy so as to instruct the nurses to provide individualized psychological care to the patients and their relatives. Method The in-depth interviews were conducted to 7 patients by implementing the phenomenological approach of qualitative study. The acquired data were analyzed. Result The patients experienced four psychological conditions: pessimism about prognosis, anxiety to know more about the chemotherapy and guilty to their family and hope for treatment effect. Conclusion Nurses should pay attention to the psychological conditions of pregnant patients with gynecologic malignancies and help them successfully live through the treatment.

OBJECTIVETo summarize and analyze the clinical indication, surgical techniques and results of percutaneous antegrade Kirschner pinning in the treatment of proximal fracture of humerus.

METHODSThirty-two patients with displaced fractures of the proximal humerus were treated with 2 to 3 Kirschner wires by percutaneous antegrade transfixation. Among 32 casas, there were 7 male and 25 female, with a mean age of 49.25 years (range, from 28 to 75 years). According to the Neer fracture classification, there were 20 cases of 2-part, 9 of 3-part, and 3 of 4-part fractures.

RESULTSAll patients were followed up for 8 to 34 months with an average of 13.5 months. According to Constant-Murley evaluation, the results were excellent in 21 cases, good in 9, fair in 2.

CONCLUSIONPercutaneous antegrade transfixaton is a good technique for the management of displaced 2-part fractures of the proximal humerus and also alternative to 3-part or 4-part fractures.

OBJECTIVETo investigate whole blood viscosity changes at different time points in rats model with lumbar vertebrae semidislocation, study Shi's theroy of qi and blood and "Gucuofeng and Jinchucao" [symbols: see text], also reveal pathological physiology characteristics of spinal disorder.

METHODSThirty-six SPF male rats weighted 350 to 450 g were randomly divided into rotatory fixation group (RF group), simple fixation group (SF group) and Sham group (Sham group), 12 rats in each group. Exterior vertebrae implanted through L4-L6 segments of lumbar vertebrae in RF and SF group were connected fixed device. In RF group, L5 spinous process were rotated to right, and caused L5 spinous process was non collinear with L4 and L6; in SF group, external fixed device were simple connected without rotation. At 1, 4, 8 and 12 weeks after fixation, whole blood viscosity changes were tested.

RESULTSAt 4 and 8 weeks after fixation, high (150/s), medium (60/s) and lower (10/s) shear rate in RF and SF group were higher than that of Sham group (P<0.05). At 1 and 12 weeks, there was no sigificant differences among three groups in whole blood viscosity (P>0.05).

CONCLUSION"Gucuofeng and Jinchucao" [symbols: see text] vertebrae could raise whole blood viscosity, increase degree of bloos stasis and induce or aggravate spinal disorder in further.

OBJECTIVETo determine whether testosterone-induced intra-testicular testosterone withdrawal and therefore spermatogenic impairment is associated with looser arrangement of spermatogenic cells in rats.

METHODSAdult male SD rats received intramuscular injection of testosterone undecanoate at 19 mg/(kg x 15 d) for 130 days, and then testicular tissue blocks were obtained for the preparation of methacrylate resin-embedded sections and observation of the changes in testicular histology.

RESULTSApart from such changes as impaired spermiogenesis and spermiation, apparently looser arrangement of spermatogenic cells was seen in 11.5% of the seminiferous tubule profiles, with radial cracks (empty spaces) running towards the tubule lumen being formed between lines, bundles or groups of spermatogenic cells (mainly spermatids and spermatocytes).

CONCLUSIONLooser arrangement of spermatogenic cells is one of the key histological changes resulting from intra-testicular testosterone withdrawal in rats.

OBJECTIVETo detect the effects of lumbar vertebrae Gucuofeng on the substance P content of hypothalamus and dorsal root ganglia in rat models.

METHODSA hundred and twenty SPF level SD male rats with the weight of 350 to 450 g were randomly divided into rotary fixation group (RF group), simple fixation group (SF group) and sham-operation group (Sham group). The external link fixation system was implanted into the L4-L6 of rats in RF group and SF group; and in RF group, that the L5 spinous process was rotated to the right resulted in L4, L5, L6 spinous process not collinear; in SF group, the external link fixation system was simply implanted and not rotated. The rats of Sham group were not implanted the external link fixation system and only open and suture. The substance P content of hypothalamus and dorsal root ganglia were detected at 1, 4, 8, 12 weeks after operation.

RESULTSSubstance P content of hypothalamus in RF group and SF group was lower than Sham group at 1, 4, 8 weeks after operation (P<0.05). Substance P content of dorsal root ganglia was higher than Sham group at 1, 4, 8, 12 weeks after operation (P<0.05). There was no significant differences in the substance P content of hypothalamus among three groups at 12 weeks after operation (P>0.05).

CONCLUSIONLumbar vertebrae Gucuofeng can inhibit the analgesic activity of substance P in hypothalamus and promote the synthesis and transmission of substance P in dorsal root ganglia, so as to cause or aggravate the pain.

As a part of our ongoing research program to isolate novel phragmalin limonoids from the stem bark of Chukrasia tabularis var. velutina, two new phragmalin limonoids orthesters, tabularin Q (1) and tabulalide O (4), along with two known compounds tabularin C (2) and tabularin H (3) were isolated. Their structures were elucidated by means of extensive 1D and 2D spectroscopic analyses which included HSQC, HMBC, and ROESY experiments and HR-ESI-MS.

OBJECTIVE: To understand the correlation of enterovirus 71 (EV71), P-selectin glycoprotein ligand-1 (PSGL-1), and scavenger receptor B2 (SCARB2) and to explore the possible pathway and mechanism of EV71 infection by observing the expression of EV71, PSGL-1 and SCARB2 in tissues of infants with brain stem encephalitis. METHODS: The organs and tissues of infants with EV71-VP1 positivity in their brain stems were chosen. Expression and distribution of EV71-VP1, PSGL-1, and SCARB2 were detected and compared by immunohistochemistry. RESULTS: Strong staining of EV71 -VP1 was observed in the neuron, glial cells, the inflammatory cells of perivascular cuffing, parietal cells of the gastric fundus gland while alveolar macrophages, intestinal gland epithelium cells, mucosa lymphoid nodule and lymphocyte of palatine tonsil showed moderate staining and weak staining were displayed in mesenteric lymph nodes and lymphocyte of spleen. PSGL-1 expression was detected in parietal cells of the gastric fundus gland, tonsillar crypt squamous epithelium, alveolar macrophages and leukocytes in each tissue. SCARB2 expression was observed in all the above tissues except the intestines and spleen. CONCLUSION The distribution of EV71 correlates with SCARB2 expression. SCARB2 plays an important role in virus infection and replication. Stomach may be an important site for EV71 replication.

OBJECTIVETo clarify the genetic characteristics of N protein coding region of HRSV isolates from Beijing and GenBank downloaded sequences.

METHODSReverse transciption polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was performed to amplify the N protein gene of 2 A and 2 B subgroups HRSV isolates from Beijing in the year 2004. The RT-PCR products were sequenced for N protein coding region. The sequences of N protein coding region of 4 Beijing isolates and those downloaded from GenBank were compared and analyzed.

RESULTSThe differences in number of nucleotide and deduced amino acid between 2 A Beijing 2004 isolates and prototype strain Long were 36-40 (3.1%-3.4%) and 4 (1.0%). The differences in number of nucleotide and deduced amino acid between 2 B Beijing 2004 isolates and prototype strain CH18537 were 17 (1.4%) and 1 (0.3%). The differences in number of nucleotide and deduced amino acid were 3-172 (0.25%-14.63%) and 0-18 (0-4.6%) respectively between 4 Beijing 2004 isolates and GenBank sequences.

CONCLUSIONN gene is the highly conservative gene in the HRSV genome. The variation between A and B subgroups were widely distributed in the entire gene of N protein, while the variation within the A or B subgroups HRSV was considerably lower.
