Objective To investigate the expression of survivin and its relationship with that of caspase-3 in two stages of hemangioma and normal skin, and to explore the role of survivin in the patho-genesis of hemangioma. Methods A total of 50 cases of human dermal hemangioma and 8 eases of normal skin were analyzed for expression of survivin and caspase-3 by immunohistochemistry. Results The posi-tive ratio and average light density of survivin were obviously higher in proliferative hemangioma (0.2449±0.0135,0.7246±0.0747) than that in involutional hemangioma (0.1648±0.0217,0.5592±0.1601) and normal skin (0.1789±0.0126,0.4626±0.0961) (P<0.01). On the contrary, the expression of easpase-3 was up-regulated in involutional hemangioma (0.2386±0.0175, 0.4378±0.0593). Analysis of data also showed that there was a negative correlation between the average light density of survivin and caspase-3 (r=-0.95,P<0.01). Conclusions Survivin plays an important role in the pathogenesis of hemangioma and has a negative relationship with easpase-3.

AIM: To determine whether chronic hypercholesterolemia affects ionic currents on cardiac ventricular myocytes of rats. METHODS: Whole - cell patch - clamp technique was used to record the ionic currents in single cardiac myocytes isolated from normal cholesterolemia and hypercholesterolemia rats. RESULTS: In the hypercholesterol group (group Ⅱ ), serum total - cholesterol level was significantly higher than that of normal group (group Ⅰ) [ (3. 10 ±tricular myocytes of rats, 50% repolarization of action potential duration (APD50) prolonged from (70. 86 ± 8.12) ms (group Ⅰ) to (116.16±6.90)ms (group Ⅱ) (n=10 in each group, P<0.01); APD90 prolonged from (95.10±7. 27)ms (group Ⅰ ) to (144. 04 ± 7.39)ms (group Ⅱ ) (n = 10 in each group, P < 0. 01 ); at the test potential of - 120 mV, Ik1 increased from ( - 16. 98 ±4. 54) pA/pF(group Ⅰ ) to ( - 19.92 ±4.08) pA/pF (group Ⅱ ) (n = 12 in each group, P < 0. 05 ); at the test potential of 0 mV, ICa- L decreased from ( - 8.56 ± 1.29) pA/pF ( group Ⅰ ) to ( -5. 24 ± 0. 90) pA/pF ( group Ⅱ ) ( n = 10 in each group, P < 0. 01 ); at the test potential of + 60 mV, Ito decreased from (13.20±1.97) pA/pF (group Ⅰ) to (10.30±1.97) pA/pF (group Ⅱ) (n=8 in each group, P<0. 05). CON-CLUSION: Hypercholesterolemia affects the ionic currents on cardiomyocytes of rats greatly, which may be the ionic mechanism of cardiac toxicity induced by hypercholesterolemia.

In order to explore reasonable artificial cultivation pattern of Thesium chinense, the biological characteristics and nutrients change in the process of winter dormancy of T. chinense was studied. The phenological period of T. chinense was observed by using fixed-point notation and the starch grains changes were determined dynamically by PAS-vanadium iron hematoxylin staixjing method. Soluble sugar and starch content were measured by anthrone-sulfuric acid method and amylase activity was determined by DN'S method. The results showed that the normal life cycle of T. chinense was two years. T. chinense was growing by seed in the first year, but growing by the root neck bud in the second year. During the process of dormancy, starch and soluble sugar could mutual transformation in different periods. T. chinense had sufficient carbohydrate to maintain growth and also a lot of small molecules to improve their ability to fight against adversity.

OBJECTIVE:To investigate the preventive and therapeutic effect of Shuganning injection on alcoholic liver fibrosis (ALF) in model rats, and provide experimental basis for its clinical application for alcoholic liver disease. METHODS:50 rats were enrolled and intraperitoneally given mixed liquid of 60% alcohol-corn oil-pyrazole to reduce ALF model. Another 10 rats were enrolled and intraperitoneally given normal saline,as normal control group. After 16 weeks, survived model rats(n=40)were ran-domly divided into model group, positive control group(Anluo huaxian pill 0.75 g/kg,ig),Shuganning injection high-dose,medi-um-dose,low-dose groups(4.8,2.4,1.2 mL/kg,ip),8 in each group. Normal control group and model group were intraperitone-ally injected equal volume of normal saline (5 mL/kg),administration groups were given relevant medicines, once a day,for 8 weeks;and modeling was contiuously conducted at the same time. After administration, body mass of rats was weighed, and the levels of liver function indexes [aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alanine aminotransferase(ALT)] and liver fibrosis indexes [hyal-uronic acid(HA),laminin(LN),type Ⅲ procollagen(PⅢNP),type Ⅳ collagen(Ⅳ-C)] in serum of rats were detected. Liver index of rats was determined and pathological changes of liver tissue were observed. RESULTS:Compared with normal control group, body mass of rats in model group was significantly decreased(P<0.05);liver index, and liver function index, liver fibro-sis index levels in serum were significantly increased (P<0.05 or P<0.01). Liver tissue showed steatosis, hepatocyte vacuoliza-tion,a large number of fibrous tissue deposition around portal areas and other pathological changes. Compared with model group,above-mentioned changes were improved significantly in administration groups (P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS:Shugan-ning injection can obviously improve liver tissue damage of model rats with ALF,showing certain preventive and therapeutic effect on alcoholic liver disease.
