Objective To investigate the correlation of Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection and serum carbohydrate antigen 724 (CA724) level .Methods 229 patients with HP infection hospitalized in gastroenterology department were enrolled in the observa‐tion group ,and patients were divided into different disease group according to the results of diagnosis .Other 100 healthy people , conducted physical examination ,were enrolled in the healthy control group .The HP infection was detected by 13C‐urea breath test and the serum CA724 level was detected by chemiluminescent immunoassay .Results The HP value and serum CA724 levels in each disease group were higher than those in the healthy control group ,with significant differences(P<0 .05) .The HP value was highest in the duodenal group ,and there was no statistical differences between each disease groups (P>0 .05) ,except the duodenal group .The serum CA724 level was highest in the gastric cancer group ,there was no statistical differences between each disease groups(P>0 .05) ,except the gastric cancer group .The serum CA724 level was positively correlated with HP value in patients with HP infection(r=0 .331 ,P<0 .01) .Conclusion HP infection may correlate with serum CA724 level .The serum CA724 level in the gastric cancer group increased more significantly ,in other disease groups increased steadily .Dynamic observation of serum CA724 level in patients with upper gastrointestinal tract disease associated with HP infection could be helpful for early diagnosis and pre‐vention of aggravation of lesions ,and could provide effective diagnosis basis for early detection of upper gastrointestinal tract le‐sions ,such as gastric cancer .

Objective To investigate the possible mechanisms of teratogenesis caused by passive smoking, temporospatial changes in surface carbohydrates of the embryonic neural epithelium and the mesenchyme around it were explored. Methods The pregnant golden hamsters were randomly divided into the treated group and the control groups. In the chamber made by ourself for passive smoking experiment, the animals of the treated group were exposed to smoke from embryonic day 4 to 7, 3 times per day for 4 consecutive days. At twelve o'clock and eighteen o'clock of embryonic day 8, eight o'clock of embryonic day 9 and eight o'clock of embryonic day 10 respectively, the pregnant golden hamsters of both treated group and control group were sacrificed, the uteri were removed and embedded routinely with paraffin, sectioned transversely in series. Objective To confirm subject headings which are prepared to be added, deleted and modified in the class of traditional Chinese medicine and related disciplines (TG class) for the new edition of Chinese Traditional Medicine and Materia Medica Subject Headings (CTMMeSH). Methods Compiling principle, word frequency statistics and database retrieval results were considered. Other references, such as MeSH, were also used to help choose subject headings of TG class. Results In TG class, 35 subject headings were planned to be added, such as “medicine, traditional Korean”and“TCM constitution”;35 subject headings were planned to be deleted, such as“medicine, eastern tradition”and“meridians”;19 subject headings were planned to be modified, such as “four-constitution medicine” and “Minority Medicine”. The subject headings of “Minority Medicine”were unified to harmonize the problems of“TCM pharmacy”with other classes of subject terms. Conclusion Subject headings of TG class are chosen based on word frequency statistics. The word form are unified refer to regulation, teaching materials and documents, and should coordinate with subject headings of other classes.

Standards of TCM information plays a fundamental and critical role in TCM informatization. In recent years, the standardization of TCM information has made a series of tremendous progress. This article introduced the major work progress of TCM terminological standardization and TCM data standardization in China, and status of TCM information standardization in International Organization for Standardization and World Health Organization. The existing problems in the construction of standardization of TCM information were discussed and suggestions were proposed to solve problems: to build the basic framework of standard system of TCM information; to cultivate professionals for the researches on the international standards of TCM information; to further explore the theories and methods about standardization of TCM information.

Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of acupoint injection with nucleotide plus conventional western medicine treatment for moderate and severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).Methods Sixty patients confirmed as moderate and severe COPD were evenly randomized into treatment group and control group.The treatment group was given conventional western medicine treatment and injection with nucleotide on bilateral Dingchuan points,and the control group was given conventional western medicine treatment alone.The treatment lasted for one year.The frequency of COPD acute onset and hospitalization times within one year were recorded.Meanwhile,the severity of dyspnea was evaluated with Medical Research Council (MRC) dyspnea scale scoring.Results (1)The frequency of COPD acute onset and hospitalization times within one year in the treatment group were lowered,and the differences were significant compared with those in the control group (P ＜ 0.05 or P ＜ 0.01).(2) After treatment,MRC dyspnea scale scores in the treatment group were improved (P ＜ 0.05 compared with those before treatment),but the improvement of the scores was insignificant in the control group(P ＞ 0.05).The intergroup comparison showed that the effect on improving MRC dyspnea scale scores in the treatment group was superior to that in the control group (P ＜ 0.05),indicating that the severity of dyspnea was much improved in the treatment group as compared with the control group.Conclusion Acupoint injection with nucleotide is effective on enhancing the therapeutic effect of conventional western medicine treatment for moderate and severe COPD.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety,particularly eye safety of hydroxychloro-quine(HCQ)treatment in primary Sj(o)gren's syndrome(pSS)patients.Methods Forty pSS patients were en-rolled and treated with HCQ 400 mg/day for 12 months.This is a prospective open-label study.Clinical mani-festations,clinical efficacy,biochemical and immunoserological parameters as well as ophthalmological exami-nations were investigated every three months to assess the safety and tolerability.Results There were signifi-cant decrease in the erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),immunoglobulin G(IgG),immunoglobulin M (IgM)and rheumatoid factor(RF)level after 6 months treatment with HCQ(P＜0.01 or P＜0.05).No changewas detected in serum antinuclear antibody(ANA),anti-SSA/SSB antibodies after treated for 12 months.Somepatients had partial improvement in symptoms such as dry mouth,dry eyes and arthralgia.During the treat-ment,no significant effect on serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT),blood urea (BUN),serum creatinine (Cr),whole blood count(WBC)or hemoglobin(Hb)could be discovered.Central semus retinopathv(CSR)was found in one patient after 6 months treatment with HCQ.However,its association with HCQ could not be confirmed since it was not compatible with the usual HCQ retinopathy.Conclusion HCQ can improve svmp-toms of some pSS patients and can significantly decrease ESR,IgG,IgM and RF level.The safety profile of HCQ is generally good.However,ophthalmological examination before and after a 6-month interval may be necessary in long term HCQ treatment.

Objective To explore the correlation between executive function and white matter lesions (WML) and the diagnostic value by clock drawing test(CDT) in patients with vascular dementia (VaD). Methods Twenty-seven VaD patients and twenty-five normal control subjects were evaluated with CDT to assess the executive function. CDT was scored according the four point method. Age-related white matter change rating scale (ARWMCrs) was used qualitatively to measure and locate the WML by cranial MRI scanning. Results 1. The scores of CDT in normal cognition health and VaD were ( 3.88 ± 0. 33 ) and ( 1.74 ± 0. 98 ). The difference between two groups was statistically significant (P＜0. 01 ). The humerous part and the point part were the earliest to decline in the VaD Patients. The scores of WML were (5.12 ± 4. 19) and ( 11.19± 3.09), respectively. There was significant difference between two groups(P ＜ 0. 01 ). The scores of CDT had significant positive correlation with MMSE scores and negative correlation with WML scores (P ＜ 0. 01 ). Conclusion The executive functional impairment in patients with VaD could be associated with the degree of WML.

Objective To explore the expression and clinical significance of EphA2 and E-eadherin in colorectal carcinoma.Methods The expression of EphA2 and E-eadherin in 67 cases of eoloreetal carcinoma and 28 cases of normal large intestine tissues were determined by immunohistochemieal method(S-P method),and their relationship to elinicopathological characteristics were analyzed.Results The positive expression of EphA2 and negative expression of E-cadherin in colorectul carcinoma tissues were significantly higher than those in normal intestine tissues(P<0.01).F111e positive expression of EphA2 and negative expression of E-eadherin were positively correlated with tumor histological grade,invasive depth and lymph node metastasis(P<0.01 orP<0.05),but not correlated with tumor～ross type(P> O.05).The expression of EphA2 was negatively related with E-cadherin.Conclusions The abnormal expression of EphA2 and E-cadherin may be together involved in the development and progression of eolorectal carcinoma,It may be a good marker for monitoring the malignant degree and the prognosis of colorectal carcinoma by combining E-eadherin and EphA2.

Objective To investigate the effect of leflunomide on the superficial costimulatory molecules expression of T lymphocytes in patients with lupus nephritis ( LN ). Methods The peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) of female active LN patients and healthy female were separated by density gradient centrifugation, and cultured by phytohemagglutinin (PHA) or leflunomide active metabolites(A771726).The CD28, CD40L, CTLA-4 and LFA-1a expressions on the peripheral blood T lymphocytes were detected by double-colored flow cytometry. The differences of the means were tested by analysis of variance( ANOVA ) and SNK q test. Results Comparing with healthy controls, there were significantly higher expressions of CD28,CD40L, LFA-1a and CTLA-4 on the peripheral blood T cells in active LN patients (CD28:33.4±6.5 vs14.4±3.2; CD40L: 13.2±3.2 vs 5.4±2.3; LFA-1a: 8.5±2.3 vs2.2±1.1; CTLA-4:4.6±1.5 all P＜0.01) as well as CD28 and CD40L expression on the peripheral blood T cells from healthy controls induced by PHA (CD28:26.8±6.7 vs14.4±3.2; CD40L: 13.9±4.9 vs 5.4±2.3 all P＜0.01 ), but not CTLA-4 and LFA-1a expression.However, CD28, CD40L, LFA-1a and CTLA-4 expressions on T cells stimulated by PHA increased in active LN patients(all P＜0.05 ). A771726 could significantly inhibit over-expression of LFA-1a and CD40L on the T cells from active LN patients (CD40L:8.2±2.0 vs13.3±3.2;LFA-1a:5.1±1.3 vs8.5±2.3 all P＜0.01 ), but not CD28 and CTLA-4 expression. A771726 did not inhibit CD28, CD40L, LFA-1a and CTLA-4 expression on the T cells in healthy controls. Furthermore, A771726 could markedly inhibit the over-expression of all of the above molecules induced by PHA on the T cells of active LN patients (all P＜0.05). Conclusion One of the major mechanisms for LEF treatment of LN is that LEF can down-regulate CD40L and LFA-1a expression but not CD28 and CTLA-4 expression on the peripheral blood T cells in active LN patients.
