Men with non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA) can achieve fertility by testicular sperm extraction (TESE) coupled with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), the key to which is the successful retrieval of sperm from the testis. Although improved testicular sperm extraction techniques have increased the chances of sperm retrieval, to predict preoperatively the success of sperm retrieval from NOA patients remains challenging. A non-invasive diagnostic technique predicting the presence of sperm in the testis would be useful for avoiding possible surgical intervention. At present, some preoperative variables, such as serum FSH, inhibin B level, testis volume, genetic analysis, histopathology on diagnostic biopsy, Raman Spectroscopy, and molecular and protein markers, have provided new insights into the chances of successful sperm retrieval in NOA males. This review aims to evaluate the preoperative factors currently available for predicting the outcomes of sperm retrieval from NOA patients.

Objective:This study was designed to explore the effect of BRD7 gene negative associated with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) on the growth of NPC cell line HNE1. Methods: The mammal expression vector of BRD7, pcDNA3.1(+ )/BRD7, was constructed and transfected into HNE1 cell. Stable G418 resistant clones were isolated, and the integration of the exogenous vector DNA and the expression of BRD7 gene were detected by Southern blot and RT PCR respectively. Finally the cytobiological characterization of positive clone (B 4) was analyzed by using population double time (PDT), soft agar assay, cytometry, and xenograft. Results: The PDT of G418 resistant HNE1 cell with epression of BRD7 was 53 h and significantly longer than that of vector transfected HNE1 cell and untransfected HNE1 (P< 0.01). Flow cytometric data shown that more BRD7 transfected cells went into phase G0- G1 than controls. And it also presented decreased clonogenicity and tomorigenicity in soft agar assay and tumor formation in nude mice. Conclusion: The reexpression of BRD7 could favor the malignant phenotype revision of NPC cells. And BRD7 gene might be a good candidate of tumor suppressor gene correlated with NPC.

OBJECTIVETo measure the frictions between FAS bracket and stainless steel wire under different two conditions, and compare two traditional self-ligating brackets.
METHODSFAS bracket was a new-style self-ligating bracket with a friction adjusting system (FAS) to adjust the friction as the wires slide in the bracket. Firstly, FAS bracket 20 times of original size was made, then the frictions were measured respectively made by the steel round wires of diameters 8.128 0 mm or the steel square wires in size of 9.1440 mm x 12.7000 mm. It was divided into two adjusting states, and used the same method to measure Damon III and SPEED bracket in 20 times of original size.
RESULTSWith the shim entirely drew in, all the frictions of the arch wire had no significant difference with the Damon III. When 8.1280 mm stainless steel round wire was used, SPEED bracket had no significant difference with FAS. When 9.1440 mm x 12.7000 mm square wire was used, they had significant difference (P < 0.05). On turning half a circle, all the frictions of the arch wire had significant difference with two tradition bracket (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONThe new-style FAS bracket can adjust the friction efficiently. Under no pressure state, the friction force is similar to Damon III. Under pressure state, FAS bracket locks the wires, and provides the sliding of wires.
