Objective To explore the causes, clinical characteristics and new measurements concerning with diagnosis and treatment of hypophosphatemic rickets. Methods Thirty children with hypophosphatemic rickets had been diagnosed and treated in our hospital from 1996 to 2005.Clinical data were retrospectively analyzed, including family history(the attack rates of parents and styles of inheritances),clinial characteristics(the attack ages and severity of skeletal developing malformation),serum biochemistry(plasma calcium, phosphate and alkaline phosphatase level),and X-ray in bones and treatment methods. Results All these patients presented with typical manifestations and signs of rickets. The minimum age of definitive diagnosis of hypophosphatemic rickets was 1.5 years old;the maximal age was 10 years old.All of 30 cases had failed to conventional treatment of vitamin D(VitD) deficient rickets for 6 months.Early supply of phosphate,VitD and calcium could effectively improve the outcomes of patients.Patients diagnosed and treated before 2 years old had better prognosis, while that diagnosed and treated later than 5 years old would be result in severe skeletal malformation. Conclusions It is difficult to distinguish hypophosphatemic rickets from VitD deficient rickets. It is very important that misdiagnosis of this disease usually leads to severe skeletal malformation.Early diagnosis and treatment can effectively improve the skeletal development of patients.

Evaluation of the permeability mainly focuses on intestinal absorption in biopharmaceutics classification system (BCS). It is more complicated that the absorption and metabolism under multicomponent environment in biopharmaceutics classification system of Chinese materia medica (CMMBCS) compared with single component environment, which needs suitable mathematical models to be described. Therefore, with full consideration of existing single component mathematical algorithm combining with the characteristics of intestinal absorption and metabolism, we explored and designed a new mathematical algorithm of intestinal absorption and metabolism of multicomponent drug. Then we put forward a new coefficient, P (influence), the relative change rate of the single component's intestinal absorption and metabolism under multicomponent environment compared with single component environment, which described the influences of intestinal absorption and metabolism of the component under multicomponent environment. Moreover, P (influence) highlights the distinctive characteristics of multicomponent drug's intestinal absorption and metabolism, and lays the foundation for the construction of CMMBCS.

This paper aimed to study the effect nitrogen supplying on biomass accumulation and root respiration dynamic change of Glycyrrhiza uralensis and reveal the metabolic pathway of root respiration impact the biomass accumulating of G. uralensis. Six groups of one-year-old G. uralensis were fertilized with total nutrition containing various nitrogen concentration (0, 0.5, 1, 2, 4, 8 mmol x L(-1)) every week. At the end of every month, from June to October, the volume respiration rate and biomass of different classes of root samples were determined, and the correlation between root respiration and biomass was analyzed. The results indicated a negative correlation between volume respiration rate and biomass, nitrogen supply significantly affected both root respiration and biomass of G. uralensis by reducing root respiration and increasing root biomass. Under 8 mmol x L(-1) nitrogen supplying, there existed the optimal inhibition of root respiration, which has increased biomass of G. uralensis.
