1.The expression of 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 in the hippocampus of rats restrained and stressed by electroacupuncture
Chinese Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 2009;31(3):159-162
Objective To observe the expression of 11β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase type 1 (11β-HSD1) in the hippocampi of rats stressed by restraint, and adjustments to 11β-HSD1 expression in response to electroacupuncture. The mechanisms of adjustment of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis(HPA) to electroacupuncture were also studied. Methods Rats were randomly divided into a control group,a group stressed by restraint and an electroacupuncture group. The rats in the control group received no treatment. The rats in the strssd group were put into a small columnar cage and their hind legs tied outside the cage. The electroacupuncture group, in addition to being restrained, received electroacupuncture at the Zusanli acupoints on both sides of their bodies. The rats were then sacrificed and their hippocampi were isolated and lysed. The expression of 11β-HSD1 in each hippocampus were observed using the Western blotting technique. Results The leves of expression of 11β-HSD1 in the hippocampi of the restrained group were significantly higher than those in the control group. After electroacupuncture,11β-HSD1 expression in the hippocampus increased further and lasted 3 h. Conclusion Electroacupuncture at the Zusanli acupoints (ST36) can increase 11β-HSD1 expression in the hippocampus of stressed rats, and this adjustment may be related to the HPA axis' negative feedback function.
2.Alteration of fatty acid components and insulin resistance of red cell membrane in diabetic patients with coronary heart disease
Basic & Clinical Medicine 2001;21(2):166-168
The fatty acid components and microviscosity of erythrocyte membrane in 39 type 2 diabetic patients with and without coronary heart disease(CHD) were examined by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) and fluorescence polarization teachnique, and their relationship with insulin sensitivity index (ISI) and CHD were analyzed. The results showed that contents and composition of erythrocyte membrane arachidonic acid (AA,C20:4)were significantly lower in type 2 diabetic patients with or without CHD than those in control subjects (P<0.01 and P<0.05).The total fatty acids contents were also significantly lower in patients with CHD than those in normal subjects (P<0.05).In patients with or without CHD,erythrocyte membrane microviscosity was significantly increased as compared with the controls (P<0.01 and P<0.05),and it was higher in diabetics with CHD than those without CHD (P<0.05).AA contents of erythrocyte membrane was negatively correlated with microviscosity and positively correlated with insulin sensitivity index (ISI),while the microviscosities were negatively correlated with ISI in diabetics.AA,linoleic acid contents, microviscosity of erythrocyte membrane and ISI were all correlated with the incidence of CHD in diabetics. In diabetic patients, the fatty acid metabolic abnormality could cause the alterations of functions, structures and fluidity of erythrocyte membrane, thus may contributing to increased IRS and might be related to the incidence of CHD.

International Eye Science 2015;(4):678-680
AIM: To compare the efficacy of different locations scleral tunnel incision in phacoemulsification cataract on preoperative corneal astigmatism.
METHODS:Totally 90 patients (94 eyes) in our hospital who had undergone the phaco-surgery from March 2013 to October 2014 were divided into two groups. The group A was those with 3. 2mm scleral tunnel incision at the direction of 10:00 ~11:00 points. The group B was those with 3.2mm scleral tunnel incision at the steepest corneal meridian. Incision was not sutured. Corneal astigmatism status of preoperative and postoperative at different times were detected by corneal refractive. The impact of different surgical incision on postoperative corneal astigmatism was compared. In the two groups, patients with preoperative corneal astigmatism<1. 00D, 1. 00 ~2.00D and > 2. 00D were compared respectively. The changes of the uncorrected visual acuity and corneal astigmatism at postoperative 1wk, 1 and 3mo were observed.
RESULTS:The uncorrected visual acuity of the patients who were in the group B preoperative corneal astigmatism <1. 00D and 1. 00 ~ 2. 00D was better than that in the group A. The postoperative corneal astigmatism of the patients who were in the group B preoperative corneal astigmatism <1. 00D was lower than that in the group A.
CONCLUSION: On the basis of preoperative corneal astigmatism, 3. 2mm scleral tunnel incision at the steepest corneal meridian to some extent can correct preoperative corneal astigmatism < 1. 00D, and accordingly improve the uncorrected visual acuity.

Shanghai Journal of Acupuncture and Moxibustion 2015;(4):305-309
ObjectiveBy observing and comparing the effect of wheat-sized moxibustion on the quality of life and interleukin (IL)-10 expression in stageⅢ~Ⅳtumor patients of two different traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) patterns by using QLQ-C30 questionnaire, to see whether wheat-sized moxibustion can improve the quality of life, regulate oncology-related immune system, and enhance the survival rate of the stageⅢ~Ⅳtumor patients.MethodForty-two tumor patients were randomized into a treatment group and a control group and were differentiated into TCM patterns. The treatment group was intervened by conventional Chinese and Western medicine plus 2 weeks of wheat-sized moxibustion. QLQ-C30 questionnaire was adopted for evaluation before and after treatment, and peripheral blood was drawn to detect the expression of IL-10.ResultWheat-sized moxibustion improved the quality of life, especially fatigueand poor appetite; the expression of IL-10 dropped after wheat-sized moxibustion. Conclusion Wheat-sized moxibustion can improve the quality of life of the tumor patients and down-regulate the expression of IL-10.

Journal of China Medical University 2001;30(1):18-19
Objective: Our aim was to investigate whether the immune RNA (iRNA) can inhibit the endotoxin-induced uveitis (EIU). Methods: The EIU was induced by injecting endotoxin of E.Coli into rats hypodermically. iRNA was abstracted from the livers and spleens of the rabbits which had been injected by E.Coli six times. The iRNA was introduced intraperitoneally into the rats both at half an hour and 3 hours after the injection of endotoxin. The effect of iRNA was evaluated by protein determination and cell count in aqueous houmer(AH). Results: The appearance of EIU in the iRNA treated rats was delayed, about 3 hours later than the rats received only endotoxin injection. The AH protein decreased by 58.34% and cellular infiltration decreased by 27.62% in iRNA treated group at the 24 hours. Conclusion: The iRNA may partly prevent the development of EIU and significantly reduce the severity of EIU.

Chinese Journal of Minimally Invasive Surgery 2001;0(03):-
Objective To explore the value of endoscopic mini-incision greater saphenous vein harvesting for coronary artery bypass operation. Methods A total of 411 patients scheduled for coronary artery bypass operation were given either endoscopic vein harvesting(EVH Group,n=136) or open vein harvesting(OVH Group,n=275),based on patient's willingness. The operation outcomes and incision complications were compared between the two groups. Results The incidence of various incision complications was significantly lower in the EVH Group(18.4%,25/136) than in the OVH Group(36.7%,101/275)(?~2=14.406,P=0.000).As compared with the OVH Group, the EVH Group had lower incidences of edema(1.5% vs 35.3%;?~2=56.861,P=0.000),paraesthesia(7.4% vs 33.8%;?~2=33.937,P=0.000),hematoma(16.2% vs 27.3%;?~2=6.214,P=0.013),and incisional liquefaction(0.7% vs 8.7%;?~2=10.174,P=0.001) of the lower extemity. The total operation time were 226.3?28.5 min in the EVH Group and 224.7?19.2 min in the OVH Group, without significant difference between the two groups(t=0.673,P=0.502).Early graft failure happened in 1 case in each of the groups, without significant difference between the two groups(?~2=0.000,P=1.000).The numbers of distal coronary anastomoses were 3.6?0.8 in the EVH Group and 3.3?1.0 in the OVH Group, with significant difference(t=3.049,P=0.002). Conclusions Endoscopic greater saphenous vein harvesting can significantly reduce the morbidity associated with incision complications, whereas does not prolong the operative time, increase the incidence of early graft failure, and decrease the number of distal coronary anastomoses.
