Objective To explore the effect of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) on the apoptosis resulted from hypoxic-ischemic brain damage (HIBD) and potential relation to caspase-3 expression.Methods Rats were divided into HIBD、HBO、sham operation group.To observe the morphologic change of brain tissues treated by HBO and compared with that of the hypoxia-ischemia rat model, then check the dynastic change of caspase-3 expression by immunohistochemistry at different time point. BACKGROUND: There are several ways for treating the trigeminal neuralgia, such as medication, block therapy and surgery, etc. But few reports throughout the world described stereotactic radiotherapy(SRT) for it, which is efficient, non-invasive and painless.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the improvement of SRT for trigeminal neuralgia.DESIGN: Case analysis based on patients.SETTING: X-knife Treatment Center, First Affiliated Hospital, Henan University of Science and Technology.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 30 patients with trigeminal neuralgia were selected from X-knife Treatment Center, the First Affiliated Hospital of Henan Science and Technology University between March 1999 and March 2002. All patients were diagnosed with CT or MRI, and no other diseases were found. Patients without obvious effect from a long-term medicine treatment or surgery were selected as the investigative subjects.METHODS: Thirty patients with trigeminal neuralgia wearing face cover were treated with non-coplanarity fractional stereotactic radiotherapy. The patients received 2 target regions and peripheral does of 60 - 75 Gy. 5 mm collimator and isodose curves referred to ranged from 85% - 90%.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Results of therapeutic assessment and follow up.RESULTS: The follow up period ranged from 1 to 22 months. Among 30patients, 6 patients' symptoms were lightened or eased up over 12-24hours, 20 patients received a marked effect over 1 - 3 months, 4 patients'treatment effects were not obvious. The effect rate reached 87%. A patient occurred numbness in sick face, and a patient showed no obvious effect in the first treatment, but the efficacy became evident in the second treatment.CONCLUSION: It is efficient in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia with stereotaetic radiotherapy and there is no special side effect.

Renal interstitial fibrosis is the common pathway for a variety of chronic renal disease to final stage renal failure,the main feature of it is the large accumulation of extra cellular matrix (ECM).Myofibroblasts is the major effector cells which lead to the synthesis of ECM,an important source of myofibroblasts is epithelial-mesenchymal transition(EMT).Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway take part in the regulation of EMT,which make it become a potential site of anti-fibrosis therapy.

Objective To analysis of the thyroid hormone test results of Abbott Architect ci16200 automatic biochemical-im-mune analyzer (Abbott system) and Roche Cobas e601 automated immunoassay analyzer (Roche system) .Methods The thyroid hormone(including T4 ,FT4 ,T3 ,FT3 ,TSH ) levels of 93 cases of serum samples were respectively detected by Abbott system (CMIA) and Roche system (ECLIA) ,and the results were analyzed .Results The thyroid hormone test results of the two systems had a good correlation ,and the coefficients of T4 ,FT4 ,T3 ,FT3 ,and TSH were 0 .960 ,0 .962 ,0 .976 ,0 .900 ,and 0 .999(P<0 .01) . However ,there were significant difference of the detection results of the two systems(P<0 .05) .Conclusion The thyroid hormone test results of Abbott system and Roche system are not comparable .

Objective To study the expression of PI3K and Akt mRNA in acute leukemia(AL) and chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML) and try to find out a relationship between the prognostic significance of acute leukemia and the expression level of PI3K and Akt. Methods The samples were collected from 63 ALpatients, 7 relapsed AL patients, 14 CML patients and 10 AL patients in complete remission(CR) patients, 11samples of normal controls(NC). The expression of PI3K, Akt mRNA were measured by semi-quantity reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR). Results The expression of PI3K mRNA in AL and relapse group were significantly higher than that in normal control. In CML, the P13K mRNA expression level was higher than that in NC and CR. The similar results of the expression of Akt mRNA were observed in CML, NC and CR. At the same time, the expression level of Akt mRNA in relapse group was significantly higher than that in NC. The complete remission rate in PI3K (+) was lower than that in PI3K (-). Similar result was obtained in Akt (+) and Akt (-). Conclusion The PI3K/Akt pathway may contribute to the occurrence of leukemia. The patients with positive expression of the members of this pathway had a lower remission rate.
