Objective To investigate the influence of hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HBOT) on blood pressure (BP) and the incidence of rebleeding in patients with hypertensive intracranial hemorrhage (HICH)Methods One hundred and twenty patients with HICH were treated for 60 min with 100% oxygen at 2.0 absolute atmospheres (ATA) daily when the condition was stable and BP was controlled ideally. Blood pressure was measured before the patients were sent into the HBO chamber and remeasured following completion of each HBOT session and 1 hour later. Rebleeding was monitored during and after each HBO session . Results HBOT caused a significant elevation of systolic BP in 25.83% (31/120) patients and a significant decrease in 16.67% (20/120) patients (P <0. 05 ),whereas the rest 57.5% (69/120) patients had no significant changes, when the BP was measured right after the HBOT session. The mean diastolic BP increased in 69 (57. 50% ) patients and decreased in 4. 17%(5/120) patients (P < 0. 05 ), whereas we found no significant changes in the rest 46 (38. 33% ) patients. No differences were found in the comparison of BP before and 1 hour after the HBOT session and no one suffered from rebleeding during and after HBOT session. Conclusions HBOT may cause temporal blood pressure changes in most patients with HICH, however, it will not cause an increasing incidence of rebleeding if the patient's condition is stable and the blood pressure has been well controlled.

Objective To analyze the characteristics of the rpoB, KatG and inhA genes mutations in rifampin and isoniazid resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB) clinical isolates in Baise district, Guangxi autonomous region. Methods 128 MTB clinical strains were collected and isolated for drug susceptibility testing, and drug resistant strain DNA was subtracted for rpoB, KatG and inhA genes mutation analysis. Results 75%(27/36)isolates carried mutations in the rpoB gene, and 59.3%(16/27)isolates carried mutations in 531 sites. 44.1%(15/34) isolates carried mutations in KatG or inhA, and 66.7%(10/15) isolates appeared in KatG 315 site, with two new mutations found in KatG 279 and 427 site. In these mutation isolates, 13.3%(2/15) mutations appeared in inhA 5, 6.7%(1/15) in inhA 16, and 20%(3/15) in both katG and inhA. Conclusions The mutation of rpoB, katG and inhA genes in TB is highly correlated with its resistance to rifampin and isoniazid in Baise district, Guangxi autonomous region. The study will provide a basis for further understanding the anti-bacterium mechanism and quick diagnostic methods for drug-resistant tuberculosis.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the expression of RhoA and NF-κB in gastric carcinoma and their correlation with clinicopathological fearures. To determine the effective prognostic factors of long-term suivival of gastric carcinoma patients.
METHODSThe role of RhoA and NF-κB in gastric carcinoma was assessed by tissue array technology and the levels of RhoA and NF-κB expression in paraffin-embedded tissues was quantified by immunohistochemistry from 189 cases of gastric carcinoma, 54 cases of their adjacent tissues, and 32 cases of normal gastric mucosa. The prognosis of gastric carcinoma was evaluated by Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox multivariate regression analysis.
RESULTSThe positive rates of RhoA expression were 84.7%, 68.5% and 65.6% in gastric carcinoma, adjacent tissues and normal mucosa, respectively. The expression of RhoA in gasric carcinoma was significantly higher than that in adjacent tissues and normal mucosa (P < 0.05). The positive rates of NF-κB expression were 75.1%, 42.6% and 15.6%% in gastric carcinoma, adjacent tissues and normal mucosa, respectively. The expression of NF-κB in gasric carcinoma was significantly higher than that in adjacent tissues and normal mucosa (P < 0.05). RhoA was positively linked with NF-κB (r = 0.203, P = 0.005). In gastric carcinoma, the expression of RhoA was related with depth of invasion (P < 0.05), and the expression of NF-κB was related with depth of invasion and lymph node metastasis (P < 0.05). The Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the tumor size, lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion, expression of RhoA and NF-κB can shorten the cumulative survival rate. With these paramaters entering the Cox multivariate regression analysis mode, it was revealed that expression of NF-κB, lymph node metastasis and depth of invasion are independent prognostic factors.
CONCLUSIONSThe overexpression of RhoA and NF-κB is involved in the occurrence and development of gastric carcinoma. RhoA is positively linked with NF-κB. They are correlated with the invasion and metastasis of gastric carcinoma. The expression of NF-κB, lymph node metastasis, depth of invasion are independent prognostic factors playing an important role in prediction of the clinical outcome after radical resection of gastric carcinoma.

OBJECTIVETo identify cancer-related genes in diffuse-type gastric cancer and to explore its molecular mechanism by cDNA microarray analysis.
METHODSA total of 22 pairs of diffuse-type gastric cancer tissue and the corresponding normal mucosa were taken and freshly frozen. cDNA microarray with 14,592 genes/ESTs was used. Genes were considered to be up- or down-regulated when the fluorescent intensity ratio between tumor and normal mucosa was over 2-fold in over 50% of the samples (P < 0.05). Hierarchical clustering of regulated genes was performed as a measure to study expressional similarity. Validation of array results was carried out by real time quantitative PCR (QPCR).
RESULTSCompared with those of corresponding normal mucosa, there were a total of 153 genes/ESTs up-regulated and 204 down-regulated in diffuse-type gastric cancer. Hierarchical clustering demonstrated that the genes belonging to the same subgroup displayed similar function. Most of the overexpressed genes were those related to cell adhesion, cell motility, matrix reconstruction, cell proliferation and/or signal transduction; while genes related to defense response, toxicoid metabolism, DNA repairing, nuclear-cytoplasmic transport and/or anti-apoptosis made up the main list of the underexpressed genes. Seven genes showed higher expression in TNM (T I + T II) group than in (T III + T IV) group. QPCR confirmed the array analysis results.
CONCLUSIONGene expression profiling by cDNA microarray analysis provides not only molecular understanding of biological properties of cancer, but may also be helpful in discovering new diagnostic markers and therapeutic targets in gastric adenocarcinoma.
