Objective To study the effects of 900 MHz electromagnetic field(EMF)on DNA and the protein expression of p53 gene in human embryonic lung cells. Methods Single cell gel electrophoresis(SCGE)and Western Blot were used for the research. Results The results showed that 900 MHz EMF could not damage the DNA of human embryonic lung cells when the exposure time was 1 h and the exposure doses were 1,2,5 and 8 mW/cm2 respectively;900 MHz EMF could not affect the protein expression of p53 gene in human embryonic lung cells when the exposure time was 12 h and the exposure doses were 1,2,5 and 8 mW/cm2 respectively. Conclusion At the exposure doses in the present research,900 MHz EMF neither can damage the DNA of cells, nor can affect the protein expression of p53 gene,so the results can not sustain the issue that 900 MHz EMF may cause cancer.

Objective To study the inhibitory effect of Pharbitidis Semen on rat hepatoma induced by N-nitrosodiethylamine ( NDEA) . Methods SD rats were divided into normal control group, model control group and Pharbitidis Semen group. In model control group and Pharbitidis Semen group, 0. 01% NDEA was applied for 90 days to induce hepatoma, and rats in Pharbitidis Semen group concomitantly received feed containing 6% Pharbitidis Semen at the dosage of 40 g·kg-1 ·d-1 . Thirty days after the hepatoma inducement and Pharbitidis Semen administration, the rats were sacrificed to observe the pathological changes in liver, number of hepatoma nodules and liver weight. The changes of liver/body weight, serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), γ-glutamyl transferase (γ-GT), and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) were compared. One-way ANOVA (LSD Test) was employed for statistical analysis. Results In the normal control group, the number of hepatoma nodules was 0. 0±0. 0, the liver weight was (9. 87±1. 30) g, the ratio of liver/body weight was (2. 62±0. 24)% and the level of serum ALT was (64. 10±12. 71) U·L-1,γ-GT was (0. 80± 0. 42) U·L-1, and ALP was (121. 20±37. 57) U·L-1. In the model control group, the number of hepatoma nodules was (27. 4±9. 5), the liver weight was (21. 38±7. 29) g, the ratio of liver/body weight was (5. 82±2. 31)%, the level of serum ALT was (175. 70±48. 75) U·L-1, γ-GT was (41. 80±15. 38) U·L-1, and ALP was (200. 50±35. 78) U·L-1. In the Pharbitidis Semen group, the number of hepatoma nodules was (8. 6± 5. 3), the liver weight was (13. 91±3. 55) g, the ratio of liver/body weight was (3. 86±0. 76)% and the level of serum ALT was (113.10±45.35) U·L-1, γ-GT was (13. 40± 6. 15) U·L-1, and ALP was (155. 80±30. 26) U·L-1. The results showed that all indices of Pharbitidis Semen group were higher than those of the normal control group, and lower than those of the model control group (P<0. 01 or P<0. 05). Conclusion Pharbitidis Semen can reduce NDEA-induced injury to the liver cells, and inhibit the overgrowth of the hepatoma.

Objective To explore the clinic effect of micro course in health education for prevention shoulder-hand syndrome in patients with stoke.Method The 42 stoke patients treated in our sector from October 2013 to September 2014 were observed (observation group) under health education by micro course, taking the 45 stoke patients treated in our sector from October 2012 to September 2013 as control group under traditional health education.Heahh education evaluation, occurrence rate of shoulder-hand syndrome, shoulder joint passive range of motion (ROM) and simple test for evaluating hand function (STEF) of the two groups of patients were compared after one and three months, respectively. Results Compared to the control group, the observation group made higher evaluation of health education method, showed lower occurrence rate of shoulder-hand syndrome, better shoulder joint passive ROM and upper limb movement function. In the time point of 1 and 3 months after the intervention, the incidence rate of shoulder-hand syndrome in the observation group was 2.5%(1/40) and 7.5%(3/40) respectively, which was significant lower than that of in the control group (19.05%,8/42 and 47.63%,20/40 respectively),thex2 value was 4.173 and 16.340 respectively,P<0.05.In the time point of 1 and 3 months after the intervention, the passive ROM in the observation group was (172.80 ± 15.18)° and (174.76 ± 7.45)°,which was significant higher than that of in the control group,(143.81 ± 22.76)° and (132.12 ± 16.67)° respectively, the t value was 6.816 and 15.074respectively,P<0.01.Conclusion Micro course used in health education of stroke patients could stimulate their study interests and activity, which played an important role in shoulder-hand syndrome occurrence prevention, shoulder injury reduction and upper limb function restoration acceleration.

AIM: To observe the activity and distribution of astrocytes and glial fibrillary acid protein(GFAP) after middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). METHODS: The rat MCAO model was made by two-kidney, tow clip renovascular hypertensive rat stroke prone(RHRSP). Rats were killed and brain samples were collected at the end of 1,3,6 and 9 weeks after MCAO, respectively. The ultrastructure of astrocytes was determined at broder of infarct (A area); distant of infarct (B area) and opposite of hemisphere (C area) by electron microscope. The number and optical density of GFAP-positive cells were also observed. RESULTS: The astrocyte proliferation distributed in the whole brain after MCAO. The highest numbers of GFAP-positive cells were observed at A area, then B area. The lowest numbers of GFAP positive cells were found in C area. The time course of GFAP-positive cell change was that the highest number was observed at 1 week after MCAO, then decreased by time from 3, 6 weeks to 9 weeks. The optical density of GFAP-positive cells showed the same patterns. CONCLUSION: The correlation between astrocyte proliferation and tissue damage after MCAO can be estimated by GFAP expression. The astrocyte proliferation plays an important role in healing process after MCAO.

OBJECTIVEThe study aimed to test if Paridis Rhizoma total saponins (PRTS) could induce apoptosis of human gastric cancer cell MKN-45.
METHODBased on the previous researches, PRTS was set by different concentrations to treat human gastric cancer cell for 12 h (5, 10, 20 mg x L(-1)). Fluorescent staining methods were adopted to observe apoptotic morphological changes of MKN-45. The apoptosis rates were analyzed by flow cytometry with Annexin V-FITC/PI staining. The enzymatic activities of caspase-3 and caspase-8 were measured by ELISA. The protein levels of Fas and FasL were detected by Western blotting.
RESULTUnder a fluorescence microscope, MKN-45 treated by PRTS was seen typical apoptotic morphological features. PRTS significantly increased the rate of apoptosis. Compared with the control group, there exsited significant differences in apoptosis rate of PRTS concentration of 20 mg x L(-1) (P < 0.01); besides, the enzymatic activities of caspase-3 and caspase-8 were promoted obviously after the effect of PRTS on MKN-45 cells for 12 h (P < 0.01). The protein levels of Fas and FasL in the MKN-45 were upgraded significantly.
CONCLUSIONPRTS can induce apoptosis of human gastric cancer cell MKN-45 , which is concerned with caspase-3 and caspase-8 and upgraded Fas and FasL.
