To investigate the pathogenic mechanism of interleukin 6(IL-6) in the tubulointerstitial lesions of patients with active lupus nephritis(LN). Methods Uninary IL-6 from 42 active LN cases and the renal tissues sections from 15 of them were examined by performing ELISA and in situ hybridization with IL-6 cDNA probe labelled by digoxingenin respectively. Results In 36/42 (85.7%) of active LN patients, uninary IL-6 content was higher than or equal to 5 pg/mg ,cr, while no one case did in normal controls. Uninary IL-6 content was highly correlated with the uninary ft-m and NAG excretion respectively. In normal tubules and interstitium, IL-6 mRNA was undetectable. For all sections from 15 active cases, IL-6 mRNA was found in tubular and interstitial cells, and the distribution correlated with the extent of tubulointerstitial lesions. Conclusion IL-6 is probably involved in tubulointerstitial lesions of patients with active lupus nephritis.

Objective To study and compare the present situation and the difference in subjective well-being between students in junior high schools for the blind and normal junior high school students, and provide basis for the construction of education mode for the well-being of the blind students. Methods By random sampling method, subjective well-being questionnaire was used to investigate the 155 blind students in five blind schools and 436 normal junior high school students in three junior high schools in Shandong Province. Results ( 1 ) The blind students had shown significant differences in many aspects of subjective well-being such as gender, family e-conomic status, sight and parents'education degree (P<0. 05) . (2) Blind school students'social confidence experience (4. 59 ±1.13) was significantly higher than that of the normal students (4.31 ±1.13), and had a significant difference (P<0.05). Blind students got significantly lower scores ((4. 38 ± 1.26) , (4.00 ± 1. 29) ,(3. 58 ± 1. 37) ,(3.89 ± 1. 35) ,(4.41 ± 1.04) , (4. 20 ± 1. 33) ) than normal school students( (4.68 ± 1. 19) , (4. 36 ±1.14),(3.88±1.27),(4.41 ±1.25),(4.61 ±0.99), (4. 52 ± 1. 18)) in target value experience, physical health experience, mental health experience, interpersonal adaptability experience self-acceptance experience, and emotional balance experience. Conclusion There exists a significant difference between the blind students and the normal junior high school students in the different aspects of subjective well-being.

Objective To discuss the relevance between the serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) level and the prostatic cancer biopsy detection rate after tamsulosin treatment for patients with lower urinary tract symptoms and elevated PSA level. Methods 168 patients with lower urinary tract symptoms and elevated PSA level were divided into two groups according to the serum PSA level change after tamsulosin treatment:in the first group, serum PSA level decreased slightly (PSA≥4.0 ng/ml and PSA decrease<20%);in the second group, serum PSA level decreased obviously (PSA<4.0 ng/ml or PSA decrease≥20%).Tamsulosin treatment was given in 0.2 mg/d for two months.Prostate gland aspiration biopsy was performed at the end of tamsulosin treatment.Result For the 68 patients of the first group, after tamsulosin treatment, the tPSA level increased from (8.11 ±2.09)ng/ml to (9.05±3.13)ng/ml,in which 38 patients (55.88%,38/68) were confirmed as the prostatic cancer by pathology. For the 100 patients of the second group, after tamsulosin treatment, the tPSA level decreased from(7.80±3.79)ng/ml to (5.19±2.32)ng/ml,in which 6 patients (6%,6/100) was confirmed as the prostatic cancer by pathology. There was significant statistical differences of prostate aspiration biopsy detection rate between the two groups(x2=23.53,P<0.05).For patients with lower urinary tract symptoms who received tamsulosin treatment, the sensibility of PSA increased to 86.4%,specificity increased to 75.8%,the rate of avoiding aspiration was 55.9%,and the rate of correct diagnosis was 78.5%.Conclusion Tamsulosin treatment can increase the prostatic cancer diagnostic positive rate and decrease the aspiration rate in patients with lower urinary tract symptoms and elevated serum PSA level in a certain extent.

OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of Cili juice enriched with SOD (CLJES) on lead excretion, activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in erythrocytes, plasma lipid peroxidation (LPO) and immune function in experimental lead poisoning animals. METHODS: Lead poisoning models were made in rats and mice. The effects of CLJES on lead excretion, SOD activity, LPO concentration in rats and immune functions in mice were determined and compared with those of conventional EDTA treatment. RESULTS: CLJES significantly increased lead excretion. Furthermore it significantly increased SOD activity, reduced LPO concentration in rats with lead poisoning and enhanced immune function in lead loaded mice, however EDTA had no such actions. CONCLUSION: CLJES might exert a wider range of therapeutic effects on lead poisoning than EDTA.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 1986;0(05):-
Isopinosine (ISO, 25?100 mg/kg?d-1ip for 4 or 5d) significantly increased the production of serum hemolysin-and spleen plaque forming cell ( PFC) in normal mice immunized with SRBC. The same result was observed in immunosuppressive mice induced by cy clophospha-mide. In 16 month aged mice, ISO (ip for 5 d) showed potentiating effect on anti-SRBC PFC response at the dose of 2 .5 mg/kg, no significant effect at the dose of 5 .0 mg/kg, and inhibiting effect at the dose of 25 and 100 mg/kg respectively. 1SO(25,50 and 100 mg/kg?d-1 ip for 9 or 10 d ) remarkably enhanced delayed cutaneous hypersensiti-vity (DCH) to 2, 4 -dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) in normal mice as well as in immunosuppressive mice induced by cyclophospha-mide. ISO (5, 10 and 20 mg/L ) signficantly increased ConA-induced lymphocyte proliferation of spleen cells from C57BL/6J mice in vitro. There was also potentiating effect on lymphocyte proliferation induced by ConA in 16 month aged mice.
