Lots of evidence show a correlation between air pollution and chronic respiratory diseases, of which the effect of particulate matter is the most concerned. It is the current research hotspot that respiratory diseases in both children and adults are closely related with atmospheric pollution levels. The influence mechanisms of atmos-pheric pollution on respiratory diseases include oxidative stress, inflammation, genetic damage, etc. This paper made a review of the latest advances s on the pathogenesis of chronic respiratory diseases caused by atmospheric particulates PM2.5 .

Objective:Evaluate the role of video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) in the treatment of bilateral synchronous multiple primary lung cancers. Methods and Results:Two paitents diagnosised as bilateral synchronous multiple primary lung cancers received one-stage treatment combined conventional thoracotomy with video-assisted thoracic surgery, performing open lobectomy to remove the larger tumor, performing wedge resection using thoracoscopy to excise the smaller one.The surgery time is short.Patients all recover smoothly without complications. To date, these two patients all alive without any sign of recurrence or metastasis of tumor, median follow-up time is 5 months (2 months+8 months). Conclusions:It is feasible to carry out one-stage treatment combined conventional thoracotomy with video-assisted thoracic surgery on patients with bilateral synchronous multiple prima-ry lung cancers, when one of the tumors of bilateral synchronous multiple primary lung cancers is classificated as T1N0M0.

Objective To investigate the effect of nerve growth factor(NGF)in the process of muscular neurotization of denerva- ted vascularized skeletal muscle.Method By using NGF(0.5 ?g/d) to transplanted skeletal muscle, muscular neurotization was exa- mined with histological, histochemical, electron microscope and immunohistochemical methods at various time.Result NGF was effective in promoting muscular neurotization and diminishing denervated muscle atrophy in grafted denervated skeletal muscle. Conclusion NGF can promote the muscular neurotization and diminish denervated muscle atrophy.

Objective:To determine and evaluate the antimicrobial effectiveness of 10% chloral hydrate solution. Methods:The determination of antimicrobial effectiveness of 10% chloral hydrate solution from two different manufacturers was carried out according to Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2015 edition). Results:The antimicrobial effectiveness of 10% chloral hydrate solution met the require-ments of Chinese Pharmacopoeia (2015 edition). Conclusion:10% Chloral hydrate solution shows adequate antimicrobial effective-ness.

Objective To investigate the effect of PM2.5 airborne particulate matter with a mean diameter of less than 2.5μm exposure on autophagy and explore the links between autophagy and apoptosis in human lung cancer cells(A549). Methods A549 cells were exposed to 100μg/mL PM2.5 with or without 3-MA(autophagy inhibitor)for various periods of 0、2、4、12 or 24 hrs. Autophagy in A549 cells was assessed by determining the lev-el of LC3(a known autophagy marker)using confocal microscopy. The level of microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3(LC3) Ⅱ conversion and Bax (a pro-apoptotic protein) was detected by western blotting. Results The expression of LC3 and the ratio of LC3-II/LC3-I in A549 cells was significantly increased and Bax was signifi-cantly decreased following exposure to PM2.5100 μg/mL for 24 h in a time-dependent manner(P < 0.05). After treated with 100 μg/mL PM2.5,the formation of LC3 in A549 cells as evidenced by the intensity of intracellular fluorescence was significantly increased ,and autophageosomes were observed around nucleus in A549 cells. Fur-thermore blockage of autophagy by 3-MA led to a significant increase in the pro-apoptotic protein Bax. Conclu-sion PM2.5 exposure induces autophagy which may protect against apoptosis induced by PM2.5 in A549 cells.

International Eye Science 2014;(10):1911-1913
AIM: To investigate the clinical features of acquired immune deficiency syndrome ( AIDS) patients associated ocular diseases in Urumqi and the relationship between ocular fundus manifestations and CD4+T cell count.
METHODS: The fundus of 93 AIDS patients were examined by indirect ophthalmoscopy. The clinical symptoms and CD4+T cell count of those patients with fundus changes were analyzed.
RESULTS: Thirteen patients were found having fundus changes which occurred in one eye of 4 patients and two eyes of 9 patients, respectively, and the total detection rate was 14. 0%. Seven patients had vision changes, and the main clinical features of retinal lesion were cotton wool spot and hemorrhage of retina. Four patients were diagnosed as retinitis with cytomegalovirus ( CMV ) infection and 9 patients were diagnosed as HIV related retinopathy diseases. Seven patients among 37 patients with CD4+T cell count ≤100cell/μL had fundus changes related AIDS, and the detection rate was 18. 9%; while 6 patients among 56 patients with CD4+T cell count >100cell/μL had fundus changes related AIDS, and the detection rate was 10. 7%. There was statistical difference between the two detection rates (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: No specificity was found of those patients with the clinical manifestation of HIV- related retinopathy, and those patients are easy to be missed diagnosis. A number of AIDS patients have fundus changes without any vision changes. Therefore, it is very useful for AIDS patients to be carried out the routine fundus examination for the early diagnosis and treatment.
