Objective To explore the value of predicting ovarian response using the antral follicle count in in vitro fertilization(IVF) cycle. Methods 54 patients in our infertility treatment center were observed, in which 6 patients had poor ovarian response and the other 48 patients had good ovarian response. The clinical data, duration and efficacy of treatment were compared between the two groups. Results The mean number of antral follicles and retrieved oocytes in the third day of menstruation in good ovarian response group was significantly higher than that in poor ovarian response group. The clinical pregnancy rate of the good ovarian response group was better than that of the poor one. Conclusions Monitoring the antral follicle count in both ovaries using vaginal ultrasound may predict ovarian response in IVF in the third day of menstruation.

Objective To investigate the effect of caspase-2 and caspase-3 in cisplatin-induced apoptosis in cisplatin-resistant and-sensitive human ovarian cancer cell lines, A2780/DDP and A2780. Methods A2780 and A2780/DDP cells were incubated with various doses(0,5,10,20,40?M) of cisplatin for 24,48 and 72 hours, respectively. The protein expressions of caspase-2 and caspase-3 in the ovarian cancer cell lines were detected by immunohistochemical technology. Objective To discuss the treatment strategy of knee dislocation and to evaluate its outcome.Methods Thirty-six patients with unilateral knee dislocation treated with individualized protocol were studied retrospectively,including 22 males and 14 females with an average age of 35 years (range,19-72 years).There were 30 acute and 6 chronic knee dislocations.According to the modified Schenck's classification of knee dislocation,there were 7 KD- Ⅰ and 23 KD-Ⅲ cases in the acute category,and all 6 chronic cases were KD-Ⅲ.Seven acute KD- Ⅰ and 6 chronic KD-Ⅲ cases underwent one-stage arthroscopic surgery.In 23 acute KD-Ⅲ cases,2 were treated conservatively with splint or brace due to advanced age,18 with staged surgery,3 with one-stage surgery due to concomitant vascular and nerve injury.Functional and clinical evaluation was conducted at final follow-up.Results All 36 patients were followed up for an average of 27 months (range,18-36 months).The Lysholm score (82.0±11.4),Tegner score (5.5±1.3),and knee range of motion (118.3°±19.2°) at final follow-up showed a statistically significant improvement compared with preoperative results (P＜O.O1).Eight (23.5％) patients had residual knee instability:posterior drawer test and Sag sign were positive (++ or +++) in 8 knees,valgus instability (++) in 1 and varus instability (+++) in 1.The remaining 28 knees were stable.Conclusion Special attention should be paid to rotational knee dislocation with single cruciate ligament rupture.Properly individualized treatment plan is the key to optimal outcome.Arthroscopic surgery can lead to successful outcome.Early one-stage arthroscopic surgery is recommended for acute KD-Ⅰ and chronic KD-Ⅲ dislocation,staged arthroscopic surgery for acute KD-Ⅲ dislocation.

Objective To investigate the presence of occult brain tissue damage in patients with relapsing neuromyelitis optica(RNMO)and its possible mechanism by using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI).Methods DTI scans were performed in 16 patients with RNMO and 16 sex-and age-matched healthy controls.Histogram analysis of mean diffusivity (MD)and fractional anisotropy (FA)was performed in brain tissue (BT),white matter (WM)and gray matter (GM)to detect the presence of occult brain tissue damage in RNMO patients.Region of interest(ROI )analysis of MD and FA was also performed in 6 dedicated regions with or without direct connection with spinal cord or optic nerve to determine the relationship between occult brain tissue damage and the damage of spinal cord and optic nerve.Results Patients with RNMO had a significantly higher average MD of the BT[RNMO(0.95?0.02)? 10~(-3)mm~2/s,controls (0.91?0.03)?10~(-3)mm~2/s,t = 3.940,P

Objective To investigate the expression and significance of B lymphocyte stimulator (Blys) and its receptor BAFF (BAFF-R) in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) from patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Methods The expression of Blys and BAFF-R was measured by flow cytometry in 90 pa-tients with SLE,which was compared with that of 45 healthy controls. The relationships between the expression of Blys, BAFF-R and other laboratory parameters as well as disease activity were analyzed. Results The expression of Blys and BAFF-R in PBMCs from patients with SLE was significantly elevated compared to healthy controls (P <0.001), so did the active group (P < 0.001) and inactive group (P < 0.001 and P < 0.01). The expression of Blys in PBMCs from active SLE patients was higher than that of inactive patients (P <0.05). However,there was no statisti-cal difference of BAFF-R between the two groups. The expression of Blys in PBMCs was positively related to SLEDAI (r =0.728,P <0.001) ,IgG and IgM(r=0.691,P<0.001 and r =0.453,P<0.01) ,but negatively related to C3 and CA (r = -0.510, P < 0.001 and r = -0.312, P < 0.05). The expression of Blys in dsDNA positive group was higher than those of dsDNA negative group (P < 0.01). The expression of Blys and BAFF-R in Cl qAb positive group was higher than those of ClqAb negative group as well (P <0.01). Conclusion The expression of Blys and its receptor BAFF-R in PBMCs from SLE is elevated ,which may reflect the disease activity and is related to the pro-duction of autoantibody. They might be involved in the pathogenesis of SLE.

OBJECTIVETo discuss arthroscopic technique of single Kirschner wire and suture avoiding epiphyseal line fixation for tibial intercondylar eminence fracture and its clinical results.

METHODSFrom May 2008 to December 2012, 21 patients (13 males, 8 females, ranging in age from 6 to 14 years old) with tibial intercondylar eminence fracture were treated arthroscopically with single Kirschner wire and suture avoiding epiphyseal line fixation technique. According to Meyers and McKeever classification, 7 patients were type II, 10 patients were type III, and 4 patients were type IV. Active rehabilitation began at one week after operation. The patients were followed up for 10 to 30 months. X-ray films were taken to evaluate fracture healing at 1, 3, 6 months after operation; range of motion, the anterior drawer test, the lachman test and the Lysholm knee score were used to evaluate clinical effects.

RESULTSAll fractures were healed without displacement at 6 weeks after operation. Anterior drawer test and the lachman test were both negative in all patients at 3 months after operation. Lysholm knee score was 95.5 ±2.5 at 6 months after operation, and postoperative X-ray film did not find epiphyseal line broadening or narrowing.

CONCLUSIONArthroscopic treatment for tibial eminence intercondylar fracture with single Kirschner wire and 8-shaped suture avoiding epiphyseal line fixation technique has many advantages, such as firm fixation,early mobilization, less invasive, less injury of physis and satisfactory effect.
