Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of Tuina (Chinese therapeutic massage) plus needling the distal acupoints along the pathway of meridians for shoulder periarthritis (SP). Methods: A total of 70 patients with SP were divided into an observation group and a control group using the random number table method, with 35 cases in each group. The patients in the observation group were treated by Tuina combined with needling distal acupoints along the pathway of meridians, while those in the control group only received the same Tuina treatment as in the observation group. The visual analog scale (VAS) and shoulder joint function were scored before and after treatment, and the efficacy after treatment was evaluated. Results: After three courses of treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was 94.3%, while the total effective rate of the control group was 80.0%, showing a statistical difference (P<0.05). After treatment, the VAS scores of the two groups were significantly lower than the baseline scores (P<0.01), and the VAS score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group (P<0.01). After treatment, the total scores of internal rotation, external rotation, back touching, ear touching and motion function in the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment (P<0.01), and the above five scores in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.01). Conclusion: Tuina combined with needling the distal acupoints along the pathway of meridians is more effective than Tuina alone in treating SP. The combined therapy can relieve the pain and improve joint function more effectively.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the precise locations of the blood vessels and nerves surrounding the seminal vesicles (SV) in men and provide some anatomical evidence for SV-related minimally invasive surgery.
METHODSWe observed the courses and distribution of the blood vessels and nerves surrounding SVs and obtained the data for positioning the SV neuroplexes in 20 male pelvises.
RESULTSOne branch of the neuroplexes was distributed to the SVs bilaterally with the neurovascular bundles, (2.85 ± 0.18) cm from the median sulcus of the prostate (MSP), while another branch ran through the Denonvillier fascia behind the SV, (0.81 ± 0.06) cm from the MSP. The arterial SVs (ASV) originated from the inferior vesical artery and fell into 4 types, 55% going directly to the SVs as one branch, 15% running between the SV and the ampulla of the deferent duct as another branch, 25% downward as 2 branches to the SV and between the SV and the ampulla of the deferent duct respectively, and 5% as the other ASVs. The shortest distance from the ASV through the prostatic neuroplexus to the posterior SV was (1.08 ± 0.09) cm.
CONCLUSIONIn SV resection, neuroplexus injury can be reduced with a bilateral distance of < 2.85 cm and a posterior distance of < 0.81 cm from the MSP, and so can bleeding by vascular ligation between the SV and the ampulla of the deferent duct.

Objective To investigate the role of white matter astrocytes and their specific protein S100A4 in sensory neurite outgrowth in vitro. Methods White matter astrocyte cultures expressing S100A4 were prepared. Dissociated adult dorsal root ganglion(DRG)cells were placed on the top of the astrocytes and co-cultured for 6,12, 18,24 hours.Small interfering S100A4 RNA was used to eliminate S100A4 expression. The growth of DRG cell neu- rites on S100A4-sileneed and S100A4-expressing astrocytes was compared. Results 12,18 and 24 hours after the co-culture with S100A4-expressing or S100A4-silenced astroeytes, neurite growth from the DRG cells was observed. Neurite outgrowth was significantly greater in S100A4 siRNA treated cultures compared to control siRNA treated white matter astrocyte cultures. Conclusion These findings suggest that white matter astroeytes are able to support axonal regeneration and, furthermore, that administration of small interfering S100A4 RNA provides strong additional support for axon regeneration.

OBJECTIVETo explore potency material bases of Xuebijing (XBJ) formula, and to analyze its effects at the molecular network level.
METHODSTotally 16 sepsis-related targets were selected and classified into three categories such as inflammation, immune, and coagulation referring to biological roles. Then molecular database of chemical compositions in XBJ formula were constructed to explore mutual actions with inflammation, immune, and coagulation targets.
RESULTSDanshen root and safflower, with more effector molecules with immune and coagulation targets, have extensive anticoagulation and anti-inflammation effects. The former 10 molecules with better mutual actions with sepsis targets were sequenced as tryptophane, danshensu, gallic acid, salvianolic acid D, protocatechuic acid, salvianolic acid A, danshensu C, vanillic acid, rosmarinic acid, phenylalanine. There existed two phenomena in XBJ formula as follows. One component had stronger actions with multi-targets, for example, danshensu had actions with 13 targets. Meanwhile, different components acted on the same target protein, for example, 8 molecules acted with MD-2.
CONCLUSIONXBJ formula had certain potential synergistic effects with sepsis targets, which could provide certain referential roles for findina new type anti-septic drugs.

Journal of Practical Stomatology 2017;33(4):481-486
Objective:To evaluate the effects of maxillary protraction with or without rapid maxillary expansion in the treatment of Class Ⅲ malocclusion by Meta-Analysis.Methods:The randomized controlled trail,quasi-randomized controlled trail and the clinical controlled trail about the treatment of Class Ⅲ malocclusion by protraction with or without expansion were searched in the database of Cochrane Library,Embase,PubMed,Medline,CBM,Wan Fang,CNKI,VIP.2 authors qualified and extracted the data independently. Then the Meta-analysis was performed by using the RevMan 5.3 software.Results:7 studies with 228 cases were included,114 cases were treated by maxillary protraction with expansion and the other 114 cases by maxillary protraction without expansion. The Meta-analysis showed that:there was no significant difference in SNA,SNB,ANB and SN-PP except ANS-Me,U1-NA,SN-MP.A favorable improvement of the sagittal relationship between maxillary and mandibular was observed by using protraction whether with expansion or not.The expansion did not shorten the course of treatment, but it lowered the inclination of upper incisors, resulting in more clockwise rotation of mandibular plane and increase of the facial vertical dimension. Conclusion:Maxillary protraction with rapid maxillary expansion can be used in the treatment of class Ⅲ malocclusion with incisor labioclination.
