Objective Toinvestigate the role of dynamic dispersion of electrical recovery in ventricular fibrillation maintenance mechanism.Method Thirty-seren male Yorkshire pigs weighing (23?2.5) kg at 3 months age were randomly divided into Sham-operated group and myocardial infarction group in which the first branch of left anterior descending coronary artery of animals was hgated. After 4 weeks, according to VF occurrence by programmed electrical simulation, the myocardial infarction hearts were divided into two groups, twelve hearts in VF (+) group or six hearts in VF (-) group;and the normal hearts were divided into two groups, five hearts in VF (+) group or ten hearts in VF (-) group.Action potential duration (APD) of subendocardial, subepicardial and mid-layer myocardium of left ventricular anterior wall were recorded simultaneously. The relationship between APD and diastolic interval was quantified as an electrical restitution curve.A Student's-test was used to specify differences between groups. Results At the fourth week after coronary artery ligation, eighteen myocardial infarction hearts and fifteen normal hearts were investigated. When investigating transmural dispersion of reporlarization (TDR) of left ventricle, there was no difference between VF (+) group and VF (-) group [ (20.43?7.01) ms vs (22.32?7.53) ms,P=0.45],although there was statistically significant between normal hearts and myocardial infarction hearts [ (15.66?4.45) ms vs (25.72?6.70) ms,P =0.001].The percentage of APD restitution slope exceed 1 and APD restitution slope maximum were high in the VF (+) group with myocardial infarction hearts and in the VF (+) group with normal hearts, lower in the the VF (-) with normal hearts and lowest in the the VF (-) group with myocardial infarction hearts. Conclusion Dynamic APD restitution properties may play an important role in the ventricular fibrillation maintenance mechanism. The APD restitution slope and not static TDR have prognostic value regarding ventricular fibrillation events. The hearts with the steepest of APD restitution curves has the greatest liability of ventricular fibrillation to happen.

PurposeTo investigate the clinical value of inverted X-ray plain film and MRI examination in the diagnosis of congenital anorectal malformation (CARM). Materials and Methods Thirty-eight cases with operatively proved anorectal malformation were reviewed; inverted X-ray plain film and MRI examination were performed in all patients before surgery. The relationship between the rectum blind side and pubococcygeal line (PC line), and the type of anal atresia was determined, to compare the diagnostic accuracy of inverted plain film with MRI for CARM typing. Results Of all the 38 cases, 19 cases were with low imperforate anus, 8 cases with median imperforate anus, and 11 cases with high imperforate anus. The accuracy rate of inverted X-ray plain film and MRI examination for the diagnosis of CARM typing was 92.1% (35/38) and 97.4% (37/38) respectively, and the difference between them was not statistically significant (χ2=1.37, P>0.05). 7 cases of fistula, 5 cases of spinal cord malformations and 1 case of right kidney agenesis can be clearly demonstrated on MRI. Conclusion Both inverted X-ray plain film and MRI can diagnose the typing of CARM accurately, but MRI is also able to diagnose the fistula, visceral, spinal cord lesion and other abnormalities accompanied with CARM, while reducing the dose of X-ray radiation and damage in children, thus has higher clinical application value compared with inverted X-ray plain film.

Objective To evaluate the efficacy of MR angiogrphy(MRA) for detecting cerebral vasospasm after subarachnoid hemorrage(SAH) and compare it with spiral CT angiography(CTA).Methods Ten patients with SAH under MRA and CTA studies were performed within 24 hours after MRA,which was performed 5 to 10 days after SAH.Maximum intensity projection(MIP) images were produced for MRA and CTA studies.Five arterial locations were examined for spasm:the suprasellar internal carotid artery(ICA),the M1 and M2 segments of the middle cerebral artery(MCA),the A1 and A2 segments of the anterior cerebral artery(ACA).Vasospasm was cate- gorized as none,mild(50 % reduction). Results The overall correlation between MRA and CTA was 82 %(r=0.76),but it was better for proximal than distal lo- cations vessels.Agreement between MRA and CTA was greater for no spasm(89%) and severe spasm(100%)(r= 0.85~0.91)than for mild(56%)or moderate(67%)spasm(r=0.21~0.51).Conclusion MRA is highly accu- rate in the detecting no spasm or severe cerebral vasospasm in proximal arterial locations vessels;it is less accurate in detecting mild and moderate spasm in distal locations vessels.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between serotonin (5-HT) and epilepsy and the mechanism of learning-memory in pilocarpine (PILO)-induced epileptic rats after 5,7-dihydroxytryptamine (5,7-DHT) microinjection in median raphe nucleus.
METHODSAdult S D rats were randomly divided into 3 groups: PILO group, PILO+ 5,7-DHT group, vehicle control group; PILO group was divided into two groups by status epilepticus (SE): PILO + SE group and PILO - SE group. The rats' seizures and cortex electroencephalography (EEG) were observed by video EEG. The rats' spatial learning-memory was evaluated by Morris water maze. Finally, serotonergic neuron in raphe nuclei was observed by immunohistochemistry.
RESULTSAfter treatment of 5,7-DHT (PILO + 5,7-DHT group), the success rate, the mortality and the frequency of chronic spontaneous seizures in pilocarpine-induced epilepsy model were all improved. Compared with the control group, the number of serotonergic neuron in raphe nuclei was decrease in PILO + SE group (P < 0.05). Moreover, it's extremely decrease in PILO + 5,7-DHT group (P < 0.01). Compared with control group, the mean escape latency was prolonged, the times of crossing target was decreased and the retention time in target zone was shortened in PILO + SE group (P < 0.05), but there was no significant difference between PILO + SE group and PILO + 5,7-DHT group.
CONCLUSIONDepletion of serotonin may facility the rats' epileptic seizures, but we could not interpret which may cause epileptic rats' cognitive deficit.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of environmental risk factors in occupational noise exposure on hearing loss and find out the susceptible population of noise induced hearing loss (NIHL).
METHODSA case-control study was designed to study the effect of environmental risk factors on NIHL. 2400 workers exposed to 75 approximately 120 dB noises from an air conditioning factory in southern China served as the subjects. 202 workers were selected from 10% of population with the maximum hearing shift of the left ear to 3000 Hz noises as the NIHL susceptible group while 204 workers from 10% of population with the least hearing shift as the NIHL tolerant group. A questionnaire was designed to carry out an investigation, and an occupational health survey was used to identify the occupational risk factors which might affect the hearing system. The univariate analysis and multivariate analysis were used to observe the effect of environmental risk factors on NIHL.
RESULTSThe results of univariate analysis showed that smoking, alcohol drinking, organic solvent, heavy metal, heat, dust were significantly was associated with NIHL (P < 0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that only heat was associated with NIHL (P < 0.05), and OR value was 1.804 (95% CI: 1.101 approximately 2.958).
CONCLUSIONExposure to heat may be a high risk factor of NIHL.
