Objective To study the changes in nitriergic nerves and interstitial cell of Cajal (ICC) in intestinal myenteric plexus of scalded rats during early post-burn stage. Methods 20 rats were randomly divided into scald group (n=10) and control group (n=10). A rat model of 30% TBSA with II degree scald was reproduced in the scald group. The rate of enteric transit was measured, and the histological changes in nitriergic nerves in intestinal myenteric plexus of scalded rat were observed as well. The densities of neurons and ganglions with positive nitric oxide synthetase (NOS) as well as ICC in duodenal myenteric plexus were assessed for both groups. Results In the rats in scalded group, the rate of enteric transit was prolonged, and the number of nitriergic nerves and ICC in myenteric plexus of rat duodenum were significantly decreased (P

DEAD (Asp-Glu-Ala-Asp) box polypeptide 43 (DDX43) plays an important role in the malignant proliferation, drug resistance of tumor cells as well as neoplasm immunotherapy. The overexpression of DDX43 has been found in various solid tumors and some hematologic malignancies. The hypomethylation of DDX43 gene promoter is identified in chronic myeloid leukemia, acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndrome, which is correlated with DDX43 overexpression and the prognosis of these diseases.

Purpose: To investigate the expression of Survivin gene and its relationship with expression of Caspase-3, B-cell lymphoma-2( Bcl-2) in human non-small-cell lung carcinoma( NSCLC) . Methods: Expression of the Survivin mRNA was evaluated by in situ hybridization (ISH) in 13 normal bronchial epithelium, 11 dysplasia, 54 NSCLC and 12 lymph node metastasis. Immunohistochemical assay was used to detect the expression of Caspase-3 and Bcl-2 proteins. Results: Expression of Survivin was detected in a significantly greater proportion in NSCLC (74. 07%) and lymph node metastasis (91. 67%) than normal bronchial epithelium (7. 69%) and dysplasia ( 27. 27%) (P

PUMA (p53 up-regulated modulator of apoptosis) is a recently discovered Bcl-2 family member which could be rapidly induced by p53 and has strong pro-apoptotic effects.PUMA has attracted much attention in the research of life science.PUMA expression results in potent growth suppression of some cancer cells through induction of apoptosis.PUMA can also significantly sensitize some cancer cells to chemotherapeutic agents and irradiation through induction of apoptosis.PUMA is potentially useful in gene therapy of tumor. But recently, researchers have also found that PUMA participates in the process of carcinogenesis and possessed important biological functions.

Objecltive To intensify the coordination and nursing in the operation room in order to prevent surgical site infection after gastrointestinal operation. Methods 337 medical history of patients received gastrointestinal operation and third rate healing from 1999 to 2006 were collected. A series of intensified measures were applied to surgical site infection from 2003 gradually, including invocation of new surgical handwashing method, modified skin disinfection manner, adoption of degreasing with ethanol first before disinfection with iodophor, placement of incision protector and clean bag for incision protection after entering abdomen, changing to use new gastrointestinal anastomofic thimerosal, standardization of operation order and clean manage-ment in operation room. The incidence rate of surgical site infection after gastrointestinal operation of patients from 1999 to 2002 and from 2003 to 2006 underwent χ2 test. Results The incidence rate of surgical site in-fection after gastrointestinal operation greatly decreased after adoption of intensified nursing intervention, Signifi-cant difference existed in rate of patients with third rate healing between the year 1999 to 2002 and 2003 to 2006. Conclusions Modified nursing intervention for surgical incision after gastrointestinal operation can de-crease incision infection rate evidently.

Objective To report specific clinico-radiological syndromes in neuropsychiatric systemic lupus erythematosus (NPSLE).Methods Ten patients with NPSLE in Peking Union Medical College Hospital from 2005 to 2011 were studied retrospectively with magnetic resonance imaging, computer tomography or positron emission tomography. Results Posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome was diagnosed in 2 patients with radiological features, headache and tonic-clonic seizure;3 patients with bilateral diffuse leukoencephalopathy, cognitive disorder and acute confusional state; 1 Fahr' s disease patient, with cognitive disorder and psychiatric symptom, movement disorder; 2 Parkinsonism patients with tremor and cogwheel rigidity, and 2 chorea patients. Conclusions The emergence of diffuse brain calcinosis, leukoencephalopathy and edema may happen in lupus encephalopathy particularly.Autoantibody reaction and vascular disease may play an important role in movement disorder including Parkinsonism and chorea.

Objective To analyze regional left ventricular systolic function before and after percutaneous translumial coronary angioplasty(PTCA),quantitative tissue velocity imaging(QTVI)was used tO detect wall motion of left ventricule. Methods 20 patients with isolated left anterior descending coronary artery(LAD)stenosis(≥70%)and 16 normal control subjects were included in this study.QTVI was performed one day before PTCA+stent,a week and a month after successful PTCA+stent.Peak systolic myocardial velocity(Vs)were measured with QTVI at different wall segments(basal and medial segments). Results Before PTCA+stent,Vs of all segments assigned by LAD were significantly lower than those of corresponding segments in normal subjects(P<0.01).After PTCA+stent, the above segments showed a significant improvement of Vs in a week and a month(P<0.01).Conclusion QTVI can quantitively detect changes of myocardiac motion and real-time quantify regional left ventricular systolic function before and after PTCA.

Objective To evaluate the relationship of biological status of HPV 16 and expression of L1 protein with the degree of cervical tumorigenesis. Methods Sixty-one patients with cervical lessions were enrolled and divided into five groups according to pathology of cervical lesions, including chronic cervicitis(n = 27),cervical intraepithelial neoplasia(CIN) Ⅰ-Ⅱ(n = 10),carcinoma in situ(n = 8),early-stage(n =7)and mid/late-stage(n = 9)of cervical carcinoma.HPV type and its biological status were detected by PCR amplification, and L1 protein in HPV 16 positive tissues was detected by Western blot.Kruskal-Wallis was used to compare between the groups, and Pearson correlation analysis was used to evaluate the relationship of HPV biological status and L1 protain expression with cervical lesions.ResultsFifty-three out of 61 patients with cervical lesions were detected with HPV positive(86.9%).All 25 patients with chronic cervicitis were in HPV free mode; in CIN Ⅰ-Ⅱ group,6 patients were in free and 2 in integral mode; in carcinoma in situ group,1 patient in free,3 in mixed and 3 in integral mode; in the early-stage cervical cancer group,2 patients in mixed and 4 in integral mode; in mid/late-stage cancer group,1 patient in mixed and 6 in integral mode.A strong positive correlation was found between the HPV in integral mode and the severity of cervical lesions(r = 0.705,P <0.01).The expression of L1 protein was negatively correlated with the aggravation of cervical lesions in HPV 16-positive patients(r = -0.755,P <0.01).Conclusion The integral mode of HPV16 and low expression of L1 protein may have predictive value for the severity of cervical lesions.

In a hospital, key disciplines are often regarded as the representative of service and reputation of the hospital. It is therefore of great significance to strengthen the construction of key disciplines to ensure sustainable development of the hospital in the increasingly fierce competition of medical market. This paper discusses how to strengthen construction of key disciplines from four aspects, namely, to increase the awareness of focal discipline construction among hospital staffs, and establish "brand awareness" ;to develop a team of high level professionals, and develop or introduce academic leaders; to improve academic research level and promote the technology progress ;and to strengthen management by objectives.
