Cancer is one of the three major killers that threatened human health in the twenty-first century,making the early diagnose and high-efficiency therapy crucial.The recent-developed nanotechnology brings new hope for this.Among different nanomaterials,magnetic nanoparticles show positive effects in diagnosis and therapies since they can be located with certain magnetic fields and can vibrate and heat up in the alternating magnetic field.With the ever increasing attention paid to the study,magnetic nanoparticles will play a key role in cancer diagnosis and therapy.This review gives a comprehensive discussion on development of the research and applications of magnetic nanoparticles,including single metallic,double metallic and alloyed magnetic nanoparticles.Moreover,it also prospects the future developing orientations of magnetic nanotechnology.Magnetic nanoparticles are widely used these days,with a speedy research development both in theory and application.However,the investigations into the toxicity of magnetic nanoparticles and the medical and commercial standards have to continue before magnetic nanoparticles are determined as valid and with low toxicity.

Objective To study the clinical characteristics of the surgical treatment of cardiac valve disease in elderly patients.Methods Between January 2004 and February 2009,43 patients aged ≥65 underwent cardiac valve operation were enrolled as elderly group,85 patients aged <65 underwent the same operation served as control group in the same period,analyzed the clinical characteristics and difference between the two groups.Results The mortality of elderly group was higher than that of control group [11.6%(5/43) vs 2.4% (2/85),P<0.05].In elderly group,the duration of staying in ICU [(73.8±15.9) h],mechanical ventilation [(40.4±10.1)h],postoperative hospitalization time [(23.7±6.3) d]and the morbidity of postoperative complications [23.3%(10/43)]were higher than those of control group [(43.1±8.6)h,(28.5±5.8) h,(15.6±3.8) d,5.9%(5/85)](P<0.05 or <0.01).Conclusions Although there are high risks in patients aged 65 years and elderly with cardiac valve disease,the treatment results would be satisfactory ff select the right operating time and do full preparation with reasonable surgery strategy,the mortality and morbidity of postoperative complications could be reduced.

Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ) for nonpalpable breast masses.Methods Two hundred and one nonpalpable breast masses in 176 women who had been scheduled for a sonographically guided core biopsy or operation were examined with the B-mode sonography and VTQ.The pathologic diagnosis was used as the golden standard.The diagnostic performances of the two methods were evaluated with receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC).Results The mean shear wave velocity (SWV) measurement values were (6.17 ± 1.95)m/s in malignant masses and (3.39± 1.82)m/s in benign masses(P ＜0.01),respectively.The area under the ROC curve was 0.789 for the VTQ and 0.840 for the BI-RADS-US,respectively.No statistically difference was found between them.The area under the ROC curve of the combination of the two methods was 0.934,the diagnostic performance of the combination was better than that of BLRADS-US(P ＜0.01)and VTQ alone (P ＜0.01).Conclusions VTQ is a good method for diagnosing nonpalpable breast lesions.The combination of BI-RADS-US and VTQ has better diagnostic perform ance for differentiation of nonpalpable breast lesions,which has important value in clinical application.

Objective To investigate the changes and possible mechanisms of the expressions of metabolic pattern glutamic acid receptor 1(mGluR1) and mGluR3 in hippocampus of juvenile rats submitted to lithium chloride-pilocarpine induced model of epilepsy in 6 h,5 d,60 d after status epilepticus(SE) onset.Methods Seizures were induced in the juvenile rats with lithium and pilocarpine injected intraperito-neally,and behavioral changes and EEG were observed.Eighteen SD juvenile rats with SE were randomly divided into following groups: groupⅠ,in which the rats were killed at 6 h after SE onset(6 h SE),group Ⅱ,in which the animals were killed during the seizure-free period(5 days after SE onset),and group Ⅲ,in which the animals were killed in 60 days after SE induction(period of spontaneous recurrent seizures).And intraperitoneal injection of saline water control groups were divided into: groupⅠa,group Ⅱa and group Ⅲa.The hippocampus tissues after the rats were put to death were collected,the expressions of mGluR1 and mGluR3 mRNA were detected by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) in the hippocampus of juvenile rats.Results EEG of rats in group Ⅰ were abnormal,but normal in groupⅡ,and 5(83%) cases of the juvenile rats in group Ⅲ manifested dissemination of sharp waves,spikes or spike wave.The saline control group did not spontaneously attack.There was more significant upregulation of mGluR1 mRNA expression(Pa0.05).The expressional levels of mGluR3 mRNA were upregulated in groupⅠ,group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ(Pa

Objective To investigate the effects of magnetic iron-oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles with different skin materials on cytotoxicity against human cervix cancer HeLa cells.Methods The Fe3O4 nanoparticles were prepared by solvent-free dissolving method and then covered with poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) and cholic acid (CA)-PLGA respectively.After the characterization,the uptake of nanoparticles by HeLa cells was observed by laser scanning confocal microscopy,and thiazolyl blue tetrazolium bromide (MTF) assay was used to assess the cytotoxcity of the Fe3O4-loaded nanoparticles against HeLa cells.Results The size of single Fe3O4 nanoparticle was about 7 nm.The Fe3O4-loaded PLGA and CA-PLGA nanoparticles were spherical in shape under transmission electron microscope,around 200 nm in diameter,and the theoretical drug-loading capacity was 10％.At the same Fe3O4 nanoparticles concentration of 25 μg/ml,the Fe3O4-loaded CA-PLGA nanoparticles showed less toxicity than Fe3O4-loaded PLGA nanoparticles.Conclusions Star-shaped copolymer CA-PLGA is promising in decreasing cytotoxicity of magnetic Fe3O4 nanoparticles and expanding its application in living organisms.

Objective To know the focus groups' iodine nutrition level after implementation of a new standard of salt iodization,and to provide technical support for iodine deficiency disorders (IDD) prevention in Nanping City.Methods According to the requirements of Focus Groups' Iodine Nutrition and Related Health Monitoring Program in Fujian Province,Yanping,Jian'ou,Zhenghe,Jianyang and Shaowu counties (cities,districts) were selected for monitoring in 2014;Pucheng,Songxi,Wuyishan,Shunchang and Guangze counties (cities,districts) were selected for monitoring in 2015.We studied:①The water iodine:2 tap water samples were collected from centralized water supply system;from decentralized water supply system,2 residents drinking water samples were collected according to each of five directions of east,west,south,north,and center,for determination of water iodine content.②Salt iodine:4 administrative villages (neighborhood committees) were selected from each monitoring site,from which 15 households were selected,edible salt samples were collected,and salt iodine content was tested.③Urinary iodine:one primary school was selected from each monitoring site,30-40 students aged from 8-10 years old were selected from each primary school,urine samples were collected for detecting urinary iodine.④Salt intake per capita:among the 8-10 years old students whom had been collected urine samples,10 students' family edible salt samples were collected,then the salt intake per capita was measured via 3-days weighing method.⑤ Goiter:in Jianyang and Shaowu Cities in 2014,and in Guangze and Shunchang Cities in 2015,the thyroid volume was measured using ultrasound,and goiter rate was calculated of 8-10 years old students whom had been collected urine samples before.⑥Pregnant women urinary iodine:20 pregnant women (early,middle and late pregnancy were included) were selected in each monitoring site,urine samples were collected for detecting urinary iodine.Results Investigation results in 2014 and 2015 were as follows:61 and 50 samples of daily drinking water of the two years were investigated,the medians of drinking water iodine were 1.5 and 5.7 μg/L for each group of samples,respectively;and daily salt intake of 253 and 250 residents of the two years were investigated,and the medians intake were 6.8 and 6.9 g/d,respectively;1 500 and 1 500 residential edible salt samples in the two years were tested,iodized salt coverage rates were 99.7％ (1 496/1 500) and 99.9％ (1 498/1 500),respectively,qualified rates of iodized salt were 95.7％ (1 431/1 496) and 94.5％ (1 416/1 498),respectively,qualified iodized salt consumption rates were 95.4％ (1 431/1 500) and 94.4％ (1 416/ 1 500),respectively;of which 749 and 1 000 8-10 years old children's urinary iodine were also tested,and children's urinary iodine medians were 190.1 and 210.4 μg/L,respectively;300 and 275 thyroids of children aged from 8 to 10 were tested,and goiter rates (ultrasound method) were 1.3％ (4/300) and 2.9％ (8/275),respectively;500 and 500 pregnant women urinary iodine were tested in the two years,and pregnant women urinary iodine medians were 133.2 and 150.3 μg/L,respectively,the pregnant women urinary iodine median of the Nanping City of 10 counties (cities,districts) and 7 counties (cities,districts) were less than 150 μg/L.Conclusions Nanping City's natural environment iodine is deficient.After the new standard of salt iodization,we can continue to promote the process of the standard of eliminating IDD in China,besides,8-10 years old children's iodine nutrition is basically at the appropriate level,but the level of pregnant women has showed a slightly deficiency.

Objective To explore the culturing strategies,curiculum provision,courses conferring methods,teaching effects as well as the associated managerial evaluations on the basis of Sino-French cooperation on medical education with the hope of summarizing helpful suggestions to Sino-Foreign cooperation on medical education. Methods The achievements of our Sino-French cooperation on medical education were analyzed and compared in the teaching models,culturing strategies along with courses conferring processes among seven-year medical students from both English-teaching and French-teaching classes. Results Our Sino-French cooperation on medical education was featured in its distinct culturing purposes and effective teaching model.Its scientifically formulated culturing strategy found its full expression in French-teaching atmosphere.The Sino-French cooperation on medical education was consistently welcomed and favorably recommended by both faculties and students. Conclusion The Sino-French cooperation on medical education has not only gained precious experience in culturing the cutting-edge medical talents with the international visions but also conduced to fulfill the goal to establish a modernized and internationalized medical school.

Objective To investigate the status quo of transformational leadership,psychological empowerment,team psychological safety and team effectiveness,and test whether the supposed structural equation is tenable.Methods Totally 380 nurses completed the Transformational Leadership Questionnaire,Psychological Empowerment Questionnaire,Team Psychological Safety Questionnaire and Team Effectiveness Questionnaire,structural equation model was used to verify the relationship of the above,Bootstrapping confidential interval and product of coefficient were used to test the mediating effect.Results Significant correlations were found between transformational leadership,psychological empowerment,team psychological safety and team effectiveness (P ＜ 0.01),transformational leadership played indirect effect on team effectiveness (Z=6.195,P ＜ 0.05),psychological empowerment and psychological safety had a totally mediation effect.Conclusions Healthcare workers should make psychological empowerment and team psychological safety as the breakthrough point,fully play the advantages of transformational leadership on team effectiveness in order to increase the working ability of nurses and make them complete the clinical work effectively and with high quality.

BACKGROUND:Tol-like receptor (TLR) and its signaling pathway play an important role in autoimmune diseases, hypersensitivity, inflammation, apoptosis and transplant rejection; however, its effects on immune pathogenesis of Henoeh-Schonlein purpura in children have not been fuly elucidated. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the TLR2 expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cels in children with Henoeh-Schonlein purpura and its correlation with immune response. METHODS: Sixty-four children with Henoeh-Schonlein purpura were divided into two groups: non-renal damage group (n=36) and renal damage group (n=28). Meanwhile, another 30 healthy children subjected to health examination acted as control group. Flow cytometry and florescent quantitative PCR were employed to detect TLR2 protein and mRNA expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cels, respectively. ELISA was used to detect plasma interferon-γ and interleukin-4 levels and transforming growth factor β and interleukin-10 levels secreted from Treg cels. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Levels of interferon-γ and interferon-γ/interleukin-4 in the children with Henoeh-Schonlein purpura were significantly lower than those in the control group (P < 0.05), while the level of interleukin-4 was higher than the control group (P < 0.05). The expression of TLR2 protein and mRNA was significantly higher in the Henoeh-Schonlein purpura children than the healthy children (P < 0.05) and significantly higher in the renal damage group than the non-renal damage group (P < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the levels of interleukin-10 and transforming growth factor β were significantly higher in the children with Henoeh- Schonlein purpura (P < 0.05). These findings indicate that Henoeh-Schonlein purpura children have increased levels of TLR2 protein and mRNA in the peripheral blood mononuclear cels, and exhibit immune imbalance. TLR2 is involved in the pathogenesis of Henoeh-Schonlein purpura, and transforming growth factor β can be used to evaluate Treg immune response and provide reference for diagnosis, treatment of prognosis of Henoeh-Schonlein purpura children.
