Ocular Beh(c)et disease,which usually presents as panuveitis,with characteristic of vision impairment and relapse,is one of the most refractory uveitis entities.Usually,one or more conventional immunosuppressive agents,such as glucocorticoid,ciclosporin,chlorambucil,cyclophosphamide,etc,are needed in disease management.However,long-term use of immunosuppressive agents would result in severe adverse effects.New biologics,such as interferon,antitumor necrosis factor agents,interleukin or its receptor antagonists,provide new therapeutic approaches to the treatment for this disease.This paper reviewed the conventional therapies and biologics applied in ocular Beh(c)et disease.

Objective To determine the clinical manifestation,pathologic behavior,therapy and related factors of rare aggressive fibromatosis.Methods Canceration from aggressive fibromatosis to fibrosarcoma in one case of aggressive fibromatosis was analyzed and relevant literatures were reviewed.Results Aggressive fibromatosis was a benign or semimaligrant,non-metastatic proliferations of fibrous tissue that infiltrated surrounding tissues and tended to recur after surgical resection.Pathology showed fibroblastic monoconal proliferation between the cellular center and the collagen periphery.Electron microscope showed an abundant collagen network enclosing a pelymorphous cellular proliferation.Immunohistochemistry defined vimentin and actin positive desmoid tumors.Complete surgical excision was a chief treatment.Several operations were needed in most cases.Recurrence rates may be as high as 10%～70%.Chemotherapy and radiotherapy may be used together with surgery in recurrence or unsatisfactory surgical margin.The disease recurred after operation and one radiation therapy,reoperation and pathology showed fibrosarcoma.Conclusion Aggressive fibromatosis is a rare benign,non-metastatic proliferation tumour of fibrous tissue with a tendency of local recurrent after surgical resection.The cornerstone of therapy is surgery.Radiation therapy and chemotherapy can be used as adjuvant therapy.It is scarce that aggressive fibromatosis cancerates to fibrosarcoma.Maybe surgical stimulus and radiation therapy are the main factors to promote it to cancerate.

AIM: To observe the effect of L arginine on blood pressure (BP) in stress rats. METHODS: Thirty rats were divided into three groups. L ARG+stress group: L arginine was added in drinking water and electric stimulus were given intermittently in rat foot plate for 15 days; stress group: electric stimulus was given as above; control group: no stress. The BP levels of tail artery were measured per two days, and the concentrations of nitric oxide (NO) of plasma were detected on 15th day. Objective To investigate the effects of long-term consumption of Fallopia multiflora on mouse hematopoietic system.Methods Forty 10-month old female C57BL/6J mice were equally divided into two groups at random, the control group fed with normal food , and the experimental group , given food with added Fallopia multiflora. After 10 month, the mice were sacrificed, and the peripheral blood, spleen, thymus and bone marrow cells were examined by flow cytometry.Results In the mice fed with Fallopia multiflora, the percentage of B cells in the spleen and CD 4 +cells in the thymus were increased , and CD8 + cells in the thymus and bone marrow hematopoietic stem cells were decreased , among the bone marrow cells , G0 cells were increased , but G1 and G2/S/M cells decreased .Conclusions Long-term proper consumption of Fallopia multiflora can delay the ageing of the hematopoietic system , and sustain its stability.

Objective: To observe the effects of pentazocine on emergence agitation.Methods: Totally 60 patients with scheduled upper limb operation with general anesthesia were randomly divided into two groups (n =30).Group Ⅰ was given pentazocine 0.25 mg·kg-1 (diluted to 10ml) and group Ⅱ was treated with 0.9% sodium chloride (10 ml) and both were with slow intravenous injection above 3 min before the surgical stitching.BP and HR were recorded and compared before the induction (T 0), before the extubation (T 1) ,at the extubation (T 2), and 5, 10 and in 15 minutes after the extubation (T 3 , T 4 and T 5).The time of recovery, time of extubation and agitation scores in 15 min after the extubation were recorded and compared, and nausea and vomiting were observed as well in both groups.Results: Compared with those in group Ⅰ, HR and BP in group Ⅱ were significantly higher (P＜0.05) at T 3 , T 4 and T 5.There were no significant differences in the breathing recovery time and awakening time between the groups (P＞0.05).The restlessness score in group Ⅰ was significantly lower than that in groupⅡ (P＜0.05).The incidence and degree of postoperative nausea and vomiting in groupⅠ were significantly higher than those in group Ⅱ (P＜0.05).Conclusion: Pentazocine (0.25 mg·kg-1) given before stitching can maintain stable circulation, reduce emergence agitation and protect the safety of patients.

AIM:To improve accuracy of the diagnosis of primary conjunctival masses(PCM) through analyze the clinicopathological characteristics and pathogenic causes of 422 cases of PCM.METHODS:Clinical manifestations, histological characteristics and immunopheno types were reviewed.Relevant literatures were reviewed.RESULTS:Benign conjunctival masses were 403 cases (95.5%).Those included masses from squamous cell papilloma (71 cases, 17.6%), conjunctival cyst (68 cases, 16.9%), inflammatory masses (62 cases, 15.4%), pigmented nevus (60 cases, 14.9%), lipoma (58 cases, 14.4%).Malignant conjunctival neoplasms were 19 cases (4.5%).Those included tumors from B Cell Lymphoma (6 cases,31.6%), melanoma (6 cases,31.6%), and squamous cell carcinoma (5 cases, 26.3%).Different types of primary conjunctival masses were induced by the same cause.CONCLUSION:The pathological types of primary conjunctival masses are various and the majority of which is benign.For the diagnosis of primary conjunctival masses, morphological analysis, immunohistochemical examination shoud be combined to increase the diagnostic accuracy and decrease misdiagnosis rate.

More and more studies showed that gastrointestinaI smooth muscIe derived factors pIay an important roIe in gastrointestinaI dysmotiIity. RecentIy,the roIe of RhoA/ROCK signaIing pathway in diabetic compIications become a research hotspot. Aims:To investigate the possibIe roIe of RhoA/ROCK signaIing pathway in diabetic coIon dysmotiIity by examining the expressions of major signaIing moIecuIes in diabetic coIon muscIe. Methods:NormaI coIon tissue sampIes taken from patients undergoing radicaI surgery for coIonic cancer from Sept. 2012 to Dec. 2013 at the First AffiIiated HospitaI of Nanjing MedicaI University were coIIected. According to gIycated hemogIobin IeveI,the patients were divided into diabetes meIIitus( DM)group and controI group. The expressions of major signaIing moIecuIes in RhoA/ROCK1 signaIing pathway incIuding RhoA,ROCK1,MYPT1 and p-MYPT1 were determined by immunohistochemistry or Western bIotting. Results:Immunohistochemistry showed that expression of RhoA protein in DM group was significantIy Iower than that in controI group(P<0. 05). Western bIotting showed that expression IeveIs of RhoA,ROCK1 and p-MYPT1 proteins were significantIy Iower in DM group than in controI group(0. 62 ± 0. 42 vs. 1. 15 ± 0. 69,0. 54 ± 0. 09 vs. 0. 75 ± 0. 05,0. 70 ± 0. 28 vs. 1. 04 ± 0. 47;P<0. 05),whereas no significant difference in expression IeveI of MYPT1 protein was found between DM group and controI group(0. 94 ± 0. 50 vs. 1. 21 ± 0. 80,P>0. 05). Conclusions:The inhibition of RhoA/ROCK signaIing pathway in diabetic coIon muscIe may have some correIation with diabetic coIon dysmotiIity.

Objective: To investigate the effect of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEI), captopril (Cap), on the serum levels of transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) and tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) in mice after lung irradiation injury. Methods: Male C57/BL mice were divided into three groups: control group, right lung single irradiation group (10 Gy), and right lung single irradiation (10 Gy) plus Cap administration group. The blood samples were collected at 36 h, 7 d, 15 d, and 30 d after irradiation. The levels of TGF-β1 and TNF-α were evaluated with ELISA method. The right lungs were isolated and stained with HE for pathological examination at the same time points. Results: The average serum levels of TGF-β1 and TNF-α in single 10-Gy irradiation group were significantly increased at different time points compared with the control group. But they were significantly decreased at different time points in 10-Gy radiation plus Cap group compared with the control group. The results of analysis of variance showed that there was a significant difference among the factor of time, the factor of treatment, and the factor of interaction (P < 0.05). Pathological examination showed that acute inflammation was aggravated in single 10-Gy irradiation group. But there was no significant difference in lung injury score between 10-Gy irradiation plus Cap group and control group. Conclusions: Cap reduces the serum levels of TGF-β1 and TNF-α and prevents lung against radiation-induced injury.

Objective To study the regulation among the content of L-borneol and four endogenous hormones and the activity of three anti-oxidant enzymes in Blumea balsamifera leaves located at different leaf positions and the concentration of inducer and the sampling time. Methods Methyle Jasmonate (MeJA) of 0.01 mmol/L, 0.10 mmol/L, 1.00 mmol/L, and 10.00 mmol/L was chosen for exogenous inducer in this experiment. The leaves of B. balsamifera located at different leaf positions (tender leaves, mature leaves, aged leaves) were experimental materials. The active content of L-borneol, the content of four endogenous hormones of auxin (IAA), abscisic acid (ABA), gibberellic acid (GA3), and zeatin (ZT), and the activity of three antioxidant enzymes of peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT), and superoxide dismutase (SOD) were detection indexes. Results The results showed that the effect of 1.00 mmol/L MeJA on the accumulation of L-borneol was good. The changes of anti-oxidant enzymes induced by different concentrations of MeJA were complex. For the content of POD, except that the B. balsamifera leaves treated with 10.00 mmol/L MeJA were lower than that in the control, POD were significantly higher than those of the control (P < 0.05) at 72 h in other conditions. Under the induction of 10.00 mmol/L MeJA, the CAT content of the B. balsamifera leaves at three leaf positions was highest at 24 h, and the activity of CAT was decreased rapidly over time. Under the MeJA treatments of other concentrations, the activities of CAT in young leaves and old leaves were significantly lower than those in the control at 72 h, but higher than those in the control at 72 h except for the treatment of 0.1 mmol/L MeJA in mature leaves. The content of SOD in the three leaf positions was lower than the control except that the B. balsamifera leaves treated with 1 mmol/L MeJA was significantly higher than that of the control after 48 h. The rest of the concentration of superoxide dismutase were lower than the control. Low concentration of MeJA (≤ 0.10 mmol/L) could promote the accumulation of IAA, GA3, and ZT in leaves of B. balsamifera, whereas the high concentration of MeJA (≥ 10.00 mmol/L) could promote the accumulation of ABA. Conclusion Under the induction of exogenous MeJA (1.00 mmol/L), B. balsamifera can promote the accumulation of active ingredients, providing a theoretical basis for its cultivation and production.

Objective To study the value of plasma level of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) for the early diagno-sis of Kawasaki disease. Methods The difference in MMP-9 level was studied by retrospective nested case-control method between children with early Kawasaki disease, Henoch-Sch?nlein purpura (HSP) or respiratory infection, and healthy control children. The associations of MMP-9 with serum procalcitonin, erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP) were also analyzed. The cutoff-value, sensitivity and speciifcity of MMP-9, ESR and CRP in diagnosis of Kawasaki disease were studied by ROC curve. The areas under ROC curves were compared among different diagnostic markers to deter-mine their signiifcances in diagnosis of Kawasaki disease. Results The plasma level of MMP-9 was increased in early phase of Kawasaki disease, and higher than that in children with HSP or respiratory infections and in healthy controls (P<0.05). If MMP-9, ESR and CRP cutoff value were set to be 90.23 ng/ml, 56.5 mm/h and 27.55 mg/L, the sensitivity, speciifcity and area under ROC curve was 83.3%, 86.4%and 0.904, 95.8%, 66.1%and 0.807, 83.3%, 74.6%and 0.789 respectively. The diagnostic performance of MMP-9 for Kawasaki disease was better than that of ESR and CRP. Conclusions The plasma level of MMP-9 is increased in the early stage of Kawasaki disease. The sensitivity and speciifcity of MMP-9 in diagnosis of Kawasaki disease are highest if cutoff value is set to be 90.23 ng/ml.
