Tuberculous meningitis is an important global medical problem which gives rise to high morbidity and
mortality. It is the most severe form of extrapulmonary Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Comprehensive
prevention effort, prompt diagnosis and rational treatment are all keys to improving treatment outcomes;
yet many unsolved problems remain. On the other hand, the new problems, such as HIV co-infection and
drug-resistance are posing important challenges. This review outlines the epidemiology, pathogenesis,
diagnosis, management and prognosis of tuberculous meningitis. We mainly focus on research carried
out in the recent decades, giving special attention to the work done among the Asian populations

International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2008;30(6):423,425-
Academe hash't got the same view about science attribute of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)up to now. This article demonstrates the scientific attribute of the traditional Chinese medicine from the nature of science, the seientific attribute of medical science and the relationship between the traditional Chinese medicine and medical science.TCM needs development. In order to develop the traditional Chinese medicine quickly,on the basis of inheriting tradition,we should make the best use of modem scientific technology. Not simply copy the theories and methods of western medicine but using the scientific measurement to build up the measurement of TCM symptoms, the relationship between symptoms and the change of the body, explore the process of physiology and pathology, and combine with western medicine to develop a mature science-medical science.

International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2009;31(3):216-217
The realization of symptom measurement of the traditional Chinese medicine is a must for the development of traditional Chinese medicine, which obtained a common acceptation academically. This article believed the methods for realizing symptom measurement are the combination of both TCM two basic theories of "the wholism conception" and "treatment based on syndrome differentiation" and modern scientific measures and methods. Meanwhile, the western medicine should be simply excluded, other than simply compare a TCM syndrome to a physiological and biochemical indicator of western medicine.

Objective To investigate the expression of platelet-derived growth factor-D (PDGF-D) and bascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) in gastric carcinoma and elucidate the potential relationship between their overex-pression and clinical pathological characteristics. Methods Immunohistochemical assay was performed to detect the protein expression of PDGF-D and VEGF in tissues. Semiquantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain re-action (RT-PCR) was performed to evaluate the mRNA expression of PDGF-D and VEGF in part of random selec-ting gastric carcinoma samples. The correlation between the expression of PDGF-D and VEGF, and the relationship between the expression of PDGF-D, VEGF and the clinical pathological characteristics were analyzed. Results The protein expression of PDGF-D and VEGF in gastric carcinoma tissues were significantly higher than that in adjacent tissues and normal gastric mucosa(P <0.05) ;The expression of PDGF-D and VEGF correlated with TNM staging, depth of invasion and lymphatic metastasis (P < 0.05), while the expression of PDGF-D also correlated to histolog-ical differentiation (P < 0.05). There was a significant positive correlation between PDGF-D and VEGF at the mR-NA and protein expression levels (P < 0.05). Conclusion PDGF-D and VEGF specifically highly expressed in gastric carcinoma. The abnormal expression may play an important role in the carcinogenesis and metastasis of gas-tric carcinoma.

Objective To determine the dynamic change of serum procalcitonin (PCT) level after traumatic brain injury and the rclated clinical significance. Methods Serum levels of PCT and adrenocorticotropic hormone (ATCH) in 137 patients with traumatic brain injury and 20 normal volunteers were measured by electrochemiluminescence assay.Correlation between serum PCT level and severity of traumatic brain injury was evaluated. Results Percentage of serum PCT level at low inflammatory-risk threshold detected from day 1 to day 14 after admission was descended from 80.3% to 63.5%.Meanwhile,the percentage of serum PCT level at high inflammatory-risk threshold was a rising-fall-rising trend, but the percentages of serum PCT level at median and definite inflammatory-risk thresholds showed sustained increase from 13.9% to 27.0% and 0.7% to 3.7% separately.Based on the Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS),the dynamic change of serum PCT level demonstrated a distinct bimodal pattern in severe injury group,a gradual falling after rising mode in middle injury group which was significantly and positively correlated with GCS (r =0.463,P < 0.05),and a rising-falling-slight rising tendency in minorinjury group. In addition, the GCS in each group only closely related to the positive detections of serum PCT level detected at days 3 and 7 (x2 =10.32,16.31 respectively P < 0.01).Serum ATCH level at day 1 was far higher than that at day 14 in severe injury group and was significantly higher in severe injurygroup compared with minor and middle injury groups (P < 0.01 or 0.05).Conclusions Positive serum PCT may be predictive of the traumatic brain injury and injury degree within 3-7 days after the injury. The dynamic change of serum PCT is associated with the specialized mechanism of traumatic brain injury and neuronendocrine response, and it may be a useful parameter to assess posttraumatic stress response and prognosis.

International Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2016;39(1):-
The progress of objective and digital diagnosis of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) is not optimistic. There is no denying that there are a lot of research ideas and methods,on the other hand, the understanding of TCM is very one-sided,fuzzy and even wrong. This paper attempts to absorb the quintessence of TCM in clinical medical information detection and treatment ideas from the measurement science and modem information detection and processing point of view.Ideas and means of clinical medical information detection and treatment in TCM not only coincide with, but also improve that of modem information detection and processing way and means, which have high reference value. The way of thinking and means, not only for medical information detection and processing, but also provide a valuable reference for other areas of information detection and processing.

International Eye Science 2014;(7):1281-1283
AlM: To measure ocular biometric values with the degree of axial myopia and determine the relationship between the differences using the Lenstar 900.
METHODS:Totally 413 myopes (826 eyes) were enrolled in this study and were divided into 3 groups: low myopia (myopia <3. 00 diopters, 104 eyes), moderate myopia ( myopia =3. 00-6. 00 diopters, 500 eyes) and high myopia ( myopia > 6. 00 diopters, 222 eyes ). Central corneal thickness ( CCT ) , aqueous depth ( AD ) , lens thickness (LT), axial length (AL) were measured by Lenstar 900. The parameters were tested using analysis of variance and the relations among SE, AL, LT were analyzed.
RESULTS: There were significant difference both in AL (F=206.16, P<0.01) and AD (F=4.764, P<0.05) and no significant difference both in CCT and LT between these myopia groups. With analysis of Person, the Spherical equivalent ( SE) shows a significantly positive correlation with AL (r=0. 662, P<0. 01) and AD (r=0. 095, P<0. 05), no correlation with CCT and LT. AL shows a significantly positive correlation with AD (r=0. 347, P<0. 01) and CCT (r=0.126, P<0.01), negative correlation with LT (r=-0.265, P<0. 01). LT shows a significantly negative correlation with AD (r=-0. 496, P<0. 01).
CONCLUSlON: Along with the diopters increasing in myopia, the axial length and aqueous depth continue to increase. Spherical equivalent ( SE) shows a significantly positive correlation with AD. AL shows positive correlation with SE, AD and CCT and negative correlation with LT. LT shows a significantly negative correlation with AD.
