Objective To understand the quality and test ability of syphilis serological tests among the laboratories of seconda-ry and higher medical institutions in Shaanxi province,in order to reinforce the quality control and the management of vene-real laboratory and improve the technical capability of them.Methods Five quality control samples,QC manual and reports were delivered,and detected for treponemal qualitative tests and non-treponemal qualitative and quantitative tests,respective-ly.Syphilis laboratories were requested to provide feedback on the test results and other information within the specified time for a final statistical analysis.Results 341 laboratories participated in this assessment,the total qualification rates was 70. 97%.The coincidence rate of non-treponemal qualitative and quantitative tests were 97.69% and 76.16%,respectively.The coincidence rate of treponemal qualitative test was 9 9.9 1%.Conclusion The syphilis serological testing capacity of laborato-ries in Shaanxi province should be improved,the coincidence rate of non-treponemal quantitative tests was low.A program of improving external quality assessment of syphilis serological testing among different laboratories should be established and the professional training and the management system should be strengthened.

Objective To analyze the genotype of varicella-zoster virus (VZV) strains isolated from patients with chickenpox or zoster and to differentiate them from Oka vaccine strain by molecular analysis. Methods In the present study, single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNP) based VZV genotypes were analyzed in 19 VZV isolates using the polymerase chain reaction and restriction fragment length polymorphisms analysis of DNA fragments of the open reading frames 38, 54, 62, and the 1t5 repeat region. Results The genotypes of 19 VZV isolates including two different groups with 52.7% of Pst Ⅰ+ Bgl Ⅰ+ R5A and 47.3% of Pst Ⅰ+ Bgl Ⅰ+ R5B, which is very different from those found in North America, Europe and Japan. All the Chinese isolates are wild-type strains with ORF62 Sma Ⅰ-. No Oka vaccine strains were revealed among the isolates. Conclusion Chinese VZV strains reported in this study showed different molecular characteristics from those circulating in Europe, North America and Japan. The SNPs in ORF62 and ORF38 may be used to distinguish VZV wild-type strains and vaccine strain in clinical isolates in China.

Objective To investigate microvascular injury-related factors post-percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Methods Seventy-two elderly patients with stable angina , who underwent PCI from February 2009 to February 2014, were enrolled in this study. The index of microvascular resistance (IMR) was assessed and the clinical data were collected. The correlation between general clinical data and the IMR value before and after PCI were analyzed, and regression analysis was conducted on the relevant factors with postoperative microcirculation after PCI. Results After PCI, FFR, CFR, CK-MB, troponin were higher than those before PCI, with significant differences (P < 0.05). Linear regression analysis result showed that glycated hemoglobin, the degree of stenosis after PCI were positively correlated with IMR, but ejection fraction and CFR before PCI were negatively correlated with IMR. Conclusion Clinically, diabetes, severe vascular stenosis, low ejection fraction, low CFR before PCI in patients with unstable angina may likely occur microcirculation after PCI.

Objective To explore the related risk factors for bypass graft occlusion in patients within 1 year after coronary artery bypass grafting,in order to provide the basis for the prevention of postoperative bypass graft occlusion.Methods Clinical data of 197 cases treated with coronary artery bypass grafting were collected,and the incidence rate of bypass graft occlusion and its related risk factors were analyzed.Results Graft occlusion occurred in 28 (14.2％) of 197 patients.The incidence rate of bypass graft occlusion were much higher in patients with BMI ≥24 kg/m2,smoking,hypertension,hyperlipemia,diabetes,peripheral vascular diseases and cerebrovascular disease than in patients with BMI ＜24 kg/m2,non-smoking,patients without hypertension,hyperlipemia,diabetes,peripheral vascular diseases or cerebrovascular disease (20.0％ vs.9.8％,22.4％ vs.10.8％,21.2％ vs.3.8％,31.1％ vs.9.2％,23.4％ vs.9.8％,25.5％ vs.10.7％,26.3％ vs.11.3％,x2 =4.106,4.534,11.735,13.658,6.615,6.486,5.656,respectively,P=0.043,0.033,0.001,＜0.001,0.010,0.011,0.017).Smoking,diabetes,hyperlipidemia,peripheral vascular diseases and cerebrovascular disease were the independent risk factors for bypass graft occlusion.Conclusions Many risk factors are related with short-term postoperative bypass graft occlusion in patients with coronary artery bypass grafting.The corresponding control measures should be conducted to decrease the risk of postoperative bypass graft occlusion,aiming directly at the risk factors,especially the independent risk factors.

Objective To study the influence of bFGF gene transfected bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) on the inflammatory cytokines of COPD rat. Methods The BMSCs were separated from SD rat and cultured and then bFGF gene was imported to BMSCs by liposome transfection method. The samples were prepared into six groups: normal control group, COPD group (A), BMSCs group (B), pcDNA3.1-BMSCs group (C), bFGF-pcDNA3.1-BMSCs group (D), and bFGF group (E). The expressions of TNF-α and IL-1β by QRT-PCR were detected. Results Compared with COPD group, TNF-α and IL-1β genes from groups B to D dropped significantly (P < 0.05). The changes of TNF-α and IL-1β genes among groups B to D showed no significant difference (P > 0.05). Conclusion BFGF transfected BMSCs, sample BMSCs and pcDNA3.1 transfected BMSCs can inhibit the expression of inflammatory cytokines of TNF-α and IL-1β, but there is no obvious advantage in comparison to bFGF transfected BMSCs and sample BMSCs in respect of inhibiting the expression of inflammatory cytokines of TNF-α and IL-1β.

METHODS: A total of 85 male Wistar rats were enrolled: 8 were as-signed to control group, and 77 were established into heart failure model and then 20 rats that modelled successly assigned ran-domly to placebo group or SR group, with placebo group intraperitoneally injected with normal saline and SR group with SR. Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a serious threat for human health, the incidence of HCC in China accounts for more than 50% worldwide. There is an urgent need to develop novel anticancer agents for the treatment of HCC patients. Here we characterized the inhibitory effect and the molecular mechanism of protopine on HCC cancer cells. The results of a CCK-8 assay indicated that protopine displays anticancer activities on HCC cells. Flow cytometry and JC-1 staining confirmed that treatment with protopine decreased the mitochondrial membrane potential and induced apoptosis in HCC cells. Western blot analysis showed that protopine was able to increase protein expression in the mitochondrial apoptotic pathway; the level of cytochrome C, apoptotic protease activating factor-1 (Apaf-1), Bax, cleaved-poly ADP-ribose polymerase (cleaved-PARP), cleaved-caspase-3, and cleaved-caspase-9 were increased while the expression of Bcl-2 was suppressed significantly. An in vivo study revealed that protopine significantly suppressed the growth of tumors in nude mice bearing HepG2 cells. Administration of protopine intraperitoneally at a concentration of 50 mg·kg^-1 inhibited tumor growth by 72.46%. Animal experiments were carried out according to the Regulation of the Animal Ethics Committee of Southwest Medical University. This study provides preliminary evidence that there is potential to develop protopine as a lead compound for the treatment of HCC.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the characteristics of air-conducted ocular vestibular-evoked myogenic potential (oVEMP) in healthy young people , so as to establish the normative data of young people. METHOD: Fifty-five healthy young subjects were recruited as study participants, 500 Hz air-conducted tone burst was used as stimulation. The threshold of oVEMP in each ear was examined. The latencies of P1 and N1, P1-N1 interval, peak-to-peak of P1-N1 amplitude and asymmetry ratio were measured. Effects of gender on oVEMPs were also exam- ined. RESULT: The typical complex wave of N1 and P1 was observed in all subjects. The threshold of oVEMP examination was(82.23 ± 12.92) dBHL, 95 dBHL air-conducted get the latencies of P1 and N1, P1-N1 interval,peak-to-peak P1-N1 amplitude in these healthy young people were(11.53 ± 0.80)ms, (16.61 ± 0.87)ms, (5.18 ± 11.04)ms, (5.96 ± 2.59)μv, respectively. The peak-to-peak P1-N1 amplitude of male was (6.49 ± 2.67) μv ,the female was (5.21 ± 2.34) μv, there were significant differences between male and female subjects in the wave amplitude (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Air-conduction induced oVEMP is a new method for vestibular function test. The amplitude of the oVEMP wave was different between male and female. Therefore it is necessary to establish the normal value according to genders.

Objective To compare the clinical and pathological features of Chinese young breast cancer(age ≤ 35)with elder patients(> 35)using Meta analysis .Methods Published studies concerning clinical and pathological features of young breast cancer in China were searched systemically and assessed .Stata12 .0 software was used for data analyzing and calculating OR and its 95%CI .Results Totally 31 studies were selected for Meta analysis ,and most of them were classified as 6 - 7 scores ,which showed the quality of articles was high .The risk factors of breast cancer and its pooled odds ratio values with statistical significance were as fol‐lows 6 .42(95% CI :4 .22 - 9 .79) ,0 .61(95% CI :0 .50 - 0 .74)when clinical staging of 0 - Ⅱ phase or Ⅰ - Ⅱ phase ,2 .25(95% CI :1 .69 - 2 .99)when histological type of Invasive carcinoma ,1 .73(95% CI :1 .23 - 2 .43)when histological grade of III grade ,1 .80 (95% CI :1 .23 - 2 .43)when positive of lymph node metastasis .Conclusion Compared with elder breast cancer ,the clinical and pathological characteristics of young breast cancer were mainly for the high misdiagnosis rate ,the late clinical stage ,the high pro‐portion invasive carcinoma ,the poor histological differentiation and the lymph node metastasising easily ,the hint of young breast cancer screening and treatment may be different principles and measures should be adopted .
