Stable and reliable animal models are required for preclinical studies of new drugs .In this article , we reviewed the rodent models associated with positive symptoms , negative symptoms and cognitive impairment of schizophrenia and the behavioral evaluation on these models , hoping to provide useful references of animal models for the antipsychotic drug screening and preclinical studies .

Aim To evaluate the effects of fibrinolytic enzyme FⅡ from agkistrodon acutus venom on an experimental model of kidney thrombus induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS). Methods The model of microvascular thrombosis in the rabbits kidney was performed by the method of Hermida, which was induced by infusing LPS. Treatments were begun simultaneously with LPS infusion, through the contralateral marginal ear vein. Six different groups were established: NS 10 ml?h~-1 was infused as the negative control group, urokinase ~20 000 IU?kg~-1 ?h~-1 as positive control group, FⅡwas infused with the dosage of 0.1(Low-dose), 0.3 (medium-dose),0.6 (high-dose) mg?kg~-1 ?h~-1 . The further rabbits, which were given neither LPS nor FⅡ, were infused with saline solution through both marginal ear veins. Kinney sections were examined for the presence of fibrin microthrombi. The measurement of FDP concentrations was used to assess the degradation of microvascular thrombosis. Results Intense fibrin deposition was also detected and FDP concentrations were (78.21?4.79)% and (84.27?6.21)% at 2 and 6 hours after LPS administration in LPS-control group. Little fibrin deposition was detected and FDP concentration also increased in urokinase control group. A lot of fibrin deposition was detected in Low-dose FⅡ group,little fibrin deposition was detected in medium-dose FⅡ group, and no fibrin deposition was detected in high-dose FⅡ group. Objective To study the risk factors for children with acute central nervous system(CNS)viral in-fection,so that pediatrician may identify children with poor prognosis at early stages of the disease,and provide them with a theoretical basis for clinical treatment. Methods The clinical data of a cohort patients of acute CNS viral infec-tion who were hospitalized at the First Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University between January 2010 and June 2013 were retrospectively collected and analyzed. According to Glasgow outcome scale on discharge,children were di-vided into good prognosis group and poor prognosis group. Clinical data and outcomes were analyzed by using univariate analysis and binary Logistic regression multivariate analysis. Results Three hundred and one cases were enrolled,278 (92. 36% )patients were assigned to the good prognosis group,and 23(7. 64% )patients were assigned to the poor prognosis group. By univariate analysis,the patients in the poor prognosis group had longer duration of sickness before admission,longer time of fever,lower white blood cell count in cerebrospinal fluid,a relatively lower calcium level,con-scious disturbance at the early stage,multiple seizures,convulsive status epilepticus,meningeal irritation sign,muscle weakness,severe changes in electroencephalogram(EEG),and abnormal neuroimaging findings(computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging,or both)had significant differences between the good prognosis group and the poor short - term outcome groups(all P < 0. 05). Conclusions Conscious disturbance at the early stage,multiple seizures,severe changes in EEG and abnormal neuroimaging findings are risk factors for acute viral infection of CNS in children.

Objective To investigate the effects of icariin, a major active component of traditional Chinese herb Epimedium on schizo-phrenia animal model. Methods MK-801, a N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor antagonist, was intraperitoneally injected into mice to establish a schizophrenia animal model. The open field behavior test infrared detection system was used to measure the mobility of mice in order to find the best optimal dose. 40 mice were randomly divided in to control group, model group, risperidone group and icariin group with 10 mice in each group. The risperidone group and the icariin group were given 0.1 mg/kg risperidone and 50 mg/kg icariin respectively. All groups were injected with 0.6 mg/kg MK-801 0.1 ml intraperitoneally, except the control group. The total distance and the central dis-tance within 210 minutes were tested. Results The total distance and the central distance were significantly longer in the model group than in the control group (P<0.001), and were shorter in the risperidone group than in the control group (P<0.05). The total distance was shorter in the icariin group than in the model group, but there was no significant difference (P=0.065); and the central distance was shorter (P=0.037). There was no significant difference in both total distance and the central distance between the risperidone group and the icariin group (P>0.05). Conclusion Icariin may improve the positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia mice, which may be beneficial to schizo-phrenia therapy.

OBJECTIVE:To estimate the cost-effectiveness of4therapeutic regi mens in the treatment of candidal vaginitis.METHODS:182out-patients with candidal vaginitis in the hospital where the authors worked were randomly di?vided into4groups:baofukang suppository group(A),miconazole suppository+miconazole cream group(B),povidone Iodine ointment group(C),and luohuazizhu suppository group(D),medical economy was applied to analyze the cost-effectiveness.RESULTS:The costs in4groups were56.2yuan,69.4yuan,75.3yuan,and53.9yuan respectively;The effective rates were93.3%,91.3%,91.3,and80.0%respectively;The ratios of cost to effectiveness were0.60,0.76,0.82,and0.67re?spectively;Compared with D,the added cost-effectiveness ratio of A,B,C are0.17,1.37and1.89respectively.CONCLU?SION:Baofukang suppository is a preferable drug to treat candidal vaginitis.

Objective To assess the efficacy of early detection of breast cancer and the prognostic value of breast self-examination(BSE).Methods Randomized controlled trials(RCTs)involving BSE were included the present meta-analysis based on their qualities.The pooled analysis was performed with RevMany 4.2.8.Results Three RCTs were identified and then they were included the present metaanalysis.In women who conducted a BSE.the rate of biopsy fora lump in breast was 1.27%in the first 5 years,2.47%in more than 5 years but less than or equal to 10 years,and 2.50%in more than 10 years, respectively,all of which were significantly higher than in those who could not conduct a BSE(P<0.05) There was no significant difierence in the rate of final diagnosis and the mortality for breast cancer between the two populations in any follow-up time(P>0.05).Conclusion The rate of biopsy for a lump in breast in women could be increased by a BSE.which should not have been discarded from the early detection of breast cancer completely despite it is not helpful in increasing the rate of final diagnosis and decreasing the mortality for breast cancer.

Objective To investigate the diagnosis and treatments of delayed endolymphatic hydrops(DEH).Methods A restrospective study was conducted in 37 cases of DEH.who were tested with pure tone threshold,vestibular evoked myogenic potentials,high stimulation rate auditory brainstem response audiometry and vestibular ruction test.Conservative drug therapy was the major treatment.Results All the 37 patients had sensorineural hearing loss up to the medium-severe degrees at least.Twenty-five had hearing loss and endolymphatic hydrops on the same side,nine had contralateral type and three bilateral type.Ten cases had abnormal horizontal semicircular canal(HSCC) hydrops and saccular hydrops.Nine cases had abnormal HSCC function and nomal saccular function.Fifteen cases had abnormal saccular function and normal HSCC function.Twenty-five abnomalVEMP showed of loss of p13-n23,prolonged latencies of p13 and depressed amplitude cases with of p13-n23.18 cases were completely relieved from vertigo in a week.17 cases improved until totally relieved in two weeks,while the rest 2 cases that were subject to chemistry labyrinthectomy free of vertigo attack.Conclusion Pure tone threshold,EcochG,bithermal caloric test and vestibular evoked myogenic potentials are important diagnosis methods of delayed endolymphatic hydrops.Consevative drug therapy,especially diuretics and vascular dilation may play a major role in the treatment of delayed endolymphatic hydrops.

Objective To study the early diagnostic indices of melioidosis by analyzing 49 cases. Methods Unconditional logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the clinical data of 49 cases of melioidosis and 98 cases of bacterial pneumonia who were admitted in our hospital and Peoples' Hospital of Hainan Province from December 1996 to December 2007. Their social characteristic,background diseases,clinical manifestations,laboratory findings,radiologic examination and complications were studied. Results Background disease (such as diabetes),hepatosplenomegaly,septic shock,sepsis et al were the main causes of melioidosis. Conclusion Chills,fever,hepatosplenomegaly,diabetes mellitus,septic shock and sepsis are all factors that should be considered with melioidosis.
