3.Advances in differentiation of human embryonic stem cells into corneal endothelial cells under the mimical microenvironment
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2015;33(9):844-847
The lack of donor corneal endothelium is a serious impediment to the development of corneal endothelial transplantation, whereas the bioengineered cornea provides an approach to this problem.Functional corneal endothelial cells which differentiated from human embryonic stem cells (ESCs) can,to some extent, relieve the lack of donor corneas, especially for corneal endothelia. At the moment,an optimal way of offering bioengineered-corneal endothelium is to cultivate the corneal endothelial cells in vitro. This is a process of inducing human ESCs to differentiate into neural crest stem cells (NCSCs) and then into corneal endothelial cells in a favorable medium with growth factors and extracellular matrix, which are matched microenvironment of endothelial cells in vitro. However, the inducement condition is still pending and remains for further research. This article reviewed the researching development of bioengineered-corneal endothelium from the effect of microenvironment and the induction of human ESCs.
4.The study of Perception in Body Somatotype and Dietary Behaviors - The Comparative Study between Korean and Chinese College Students -.
Korean Journal of Community Nutrition 2013;18(1):25-44
This study aimed to analyze about the perception in obesity and body somatotype of university students in Korea and in China. This study provides the basic data of nutrition education for university student healthy weight program in China. The subjects were selected 240 university students of Korea and China. Two types of qualitative and quantitative questionnaires were used to analyze the attitude and body somatotype of subjects. The results of this study were as follows: The average BMI of Korean and Chinese male students was 22.3 and 22.5, respectively while the average BMI of Korean and Chinese female students was 19.8 and 19.7, respectively. In the past three years, the weight gain of Chinese students was higher than that of Korean students. Chinese students preferred the overweight body somatotype more compared to the Korean students. The overweight and obese students had more obvious insufficiency in body somatotype perception. The overweight and obese students had higher tendency to 'eat more meat', 'drink carbonated beverages', 'eat convenience food', 'take fast food' and 'drink alcohol' than the normal and low weight group. The major reasons for Korean students to control weight were 'appearance' and 'self confidence', while the major reasons for Chinese students were 'health' and 'employment'. From the results of associative group analysis (AGA), Chinese students had different semantic value of 'obese' than Korean students. Considering of the food transition status in China, it may be necessary to develop more suitable education programs for weight control for Chinese university students.

Methods 50 cases with epithelial ovarian cancer collected in Shifang People’s Hospital from 2009 January to 2010 January were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, each had 25 cases.Treatment group were given docetaxel and nedaplatin, while control group were given carboplatin. The efficacy and adverse reactions in two groups were observed and compared. Results The recent efficacy in two groups were 76.00% and 52.00%, respectively, and the difference was significant (P <0.05 ).Compared with control group, the incidence of leucopenia was 36.00% and thrombocytopenia was 24.00% in treatment group, there was no significant difference between them. The incidences of nausea, vomiting and alopecia in treatment group were 12.00%,8.00% and 44.00%,which lower than that in control group (40%,28% and 64%),the differences between two groups were all significant(P<0.05 ).The two years survival rates in treatment group was 37.5%,and 28% in control group, there was no significant difference between two groups. Conclusion Docetaxel and nedaplatin has good clinical efficacy in treatment of epithelial ovarian cancer.
6.Advance in glutathione S-transferase kappa 1
Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2017;42(4):468-475
Glutathione S-transferase kappa 1 (GSTK1) is a key regulator for adiponectin secretion and multimerization. In Caenorhabditis elegans,GSTK1 is involved in energy production and lipid metabolism.Meanwhile, the GSTK1 level is negatively correlated with obesity. It may alleviate the endoplasmic reticulum stress-mediated downregulation of adiponectin. Moreover,a polymorphism in human GSTK1 promoter is related with insulin secretion and fat deposition.Therefore,GSTK1 might be a novel target for the treatment of insulin resistance and the relevant metabolic diseases.
7.Phosphorylated H2AX in predicting sensitivity of hepatic cancer cell line HepG2.215 to chemotherapeutic drugs
Chinese Journal of Cancer Biotherapy 1994;0(01):-
Objective:To study the feasibility and reliability of using phosphorylated H2AX(?H2AX)as a predictor for sensitivity of hepatic carcinoma cell HepG2.215 to chemotherapy agents: etoposide, doxorubicin, mitomycin, and cisplatin. Methods: HepG2.215 cells were exposed to etoposide, doxorubicin, mitomycin or cisplatin of 1, 2, 4 and 20 concentration index (CI). Untreated HepG2.215 cells were taken as control. The proportion of HepG2.215 cells expressing ?H2AX was measured by flow cytometry, the number of ?H2AX foci in HepG2.215 cells was measured by immunocytochemistry, and cell proliferation was measured by MTT. The correlation between the number of ?H2AX foci and the percentage of HepG2.215 cells expressing ?H2AX in HepG2.215 cells was analyzed; the correlation of CI with the percentage of HepG2.215 cells expressing ?H2AX or ?H2AX foci and inhibitory rate of cell proliferation was analyzed; and the correlation of inhibitory rate of cell praliferation with the percentage of HepG2.215 cells expressing ?H2AX or ?H2AX foci was also analyzed. Results: There was a positive correlation between the number of ?H2AX foci and the percentage of HepG2.215 cells expressing ?H2AX in HepG2.215 cells after treatment with the above 4 agents (all P

9.Flexural strength of denture bases repaired with metal wires Comparison among different amounts of metal wires
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2010;14(8):1504-1507
BACKGROUND: Poly methyl methyacrylate (PMMA) has been widely used as a denture base material in dental field for a long time. However, the fracture of acrylic resin dentures is an unresolved problem in prosthodontics. Therefore, how to improve the flexural strength of repaired denture seems to be extremely important. OBJECTIVE: To study the effect of embedding different amounts of metal wires on the flexural strength of repaired denture bases. METHODS: Twenty-five rectangular specimens (50 mm× 30 mm × 2.5 mm) were fabricated using heat-cured acrylic resins and randomly and evenly divided into five groups: A, B, C, D, and E. All specimens were fractured through the use of universal testing machine, and the flexural strengths were tested. Following preparation of fracture surfaces, one to four metal wires were separately embedded in the groups B, C, D, and E. No metal wires were embedded in the group A. All fractured specimens were repaired using self-curing resins. The flexural strengths were measured again using the same testing machine, and the percentages of strength recovery were calculated. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: After repair, the flexural strengths were obviously reduced (P < 0.01). Compared to group A, the percentages of strength recovery were significantly increased in groups C, D, and E (P < 0.05). There was no significant difference in the percentage of strength recovery among groups C, D, and E (P > 0.05). These results indicate that embedding two to four metal wires can improve the flexural strength of denture bases.
10.Mechanisms and strategies for targeting drugs to myocardial ischemic regions
Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2010;45(7):827-32
The ischemic heart disease has been endangering human health seriously. Although there are many kinds of anti-ischemic drugs, most of them are lacking in tissue specificity, which together with a remarkably reduced blood circulation in the ischemic zone often lead to a quite low drug distribution in the targets. Myocardial ischemia can cause a lot of pathophysiological changes, such as the enhanced permeability of the endothelial cell membrane, the up-regulated expression of various cell adhesion molecules on endothelium, the exposure of intracellular antigenic components, the decrease of pH within the ischemic zone, and so on. To date, some of these changes have been exploited with limited success to gain the passive, active and physicochemical targeting of diagnostic or therapeutic drugs to myocardial ischemic regions. However, more effective delivery strategies are still eagerly needed. Here, we reviewed and discussed the potential targeting-delivery mechanisms and strategies, used or may be used in the future, for myocardial ischemic regions.
