Objective To investigate the clinical effects of bioglue compound and anatomic plate in treatment of tibial plateau fractures. Methods 28 cases of tibial plateau fractures were treated by means of open reduction and internal fixation with bioglue compound and anatomic plate. The intervals between operation and injury ranged from 5 to 10 days. The amounts of bioglue compound implanted ranged from 3 to 8 grams. Results All the patients were followed up for 6 to 22 months. All the fractures healed satisfactorily without sunken joint surface. According to Mechant criteria, the result was excellent in 13 cases, good in 11 cases, moderate in 3 cases and poor in 1 case. The total excellent and good rate was 85.3 %. Conclusion Internal fixation with bioglue compound and anatomic plate can result in good effects in treatment of tibial plateau fractures, because the bioglue compound possesses high bone inductive potentialities to repair bone defects.

Objective To observe the damage to Langerhans cells induced by UVB irradiation, and to evaluate photoprotective effect of these cells from UVB irradiation by epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG).Methods Biopsy specimens were obtained from normal adult foreskin, and epidermal cells were isolated.Density gradient centrifugation and magnetic cell sorting were used simultaneously to purify Langerhans cells from the cell suspension. These cells were then divided into three groups, control (no ir- radiation or EGCG treatment),UVB (irradiation) and EGCG (irradiation+ECCG treatment) groups. The cells in the UVB and EGCG group were irradiated by UVB (30 mJ/cm~2).After the irradiation, the U- VB group was incubated with RPMI-1640 containing 10% bovine serum for 4 hours, while the EGCG group with the same medium containing 200?g/mL of EGCG for 4 hours.Another four hours after the treatment, the cells were collected for the detection of apoptosis rate by propidium iodide staining and flow cytometry. Results Exposure to UVB (30 mJ/cm~2) significantly increased the apoptotic rate of Langerhans cells. The apoptotic rate in EGCG group was significantly lower than that in the UVB group, but was higher than that in the control group. Conclusion Rate of apoptosis of Langerhans cells could be increased by UVB irradia- tion, while EGCG could prevent the increase of apoptosis.

Objective To investigate the characteristics of dysplasia in myeledysplastic syndrome (MDS). Methods 716 samples of adult patients with abnormal blood routine and unelear cause were collected between July 04, 2003 and March 14, 2007. Based on the gold diagnostic standard of WHO MDS classification, all eases were detected on cytomorphology, cytochemical stain, bone marrow pathological assay, cytogenetics, flow eytometry et al. The cytological study of bone marrow on some abnormal hematopaietie cells has a diagnostic value to determine clonal or non-clonal diseases and assess sensitivity and specificity. Results in the complicated various dysplasia of hematopeiefic ceils, the following characteristics can be the main basis of cytomorphological diagnosis: one of granular Auer bodies, micronuclens (MN), or nuclear budding, erythroid nuclear budding, megakaryocytes presented in peripheral blood, myeloblast or prorubricyte exhibited in peripheral blood, ringed sideroblasts>1%. The subordinate basis of cytomorphological diagnosis development of nuclei, ring-shaped nuclei, and aggregation of nuclear chromafin, erythroid multi-nuclei, odd nucleus, mother-daughter nucleus, nuclear fragmentation, vacuole, anisoeytosis and mieromegakaryocytes. Conclusion Cytomorphologic assay is the base for the diagnosis of MDS, however, it presents certain limit, especially when eytomnrphoiogical change does not possess specificity for early MDS. Hereby, it requires to combine other deteetion methods.

OBJECTIVETo research the application and clinical effect of titanium elastic nails (TEN) for the treatment of closed clavicular fracture in elder children.
METHODSFrom October 2010 to December 2012,16 elderly children with clavicular fracture of elder children were treated with internal fixation, including 9 boys and 7 girls with an average age of 14.2 yeats old ranging from 9 to 17 years. The mean time between injury and surgery was 2 to 6 days. Thirteen patients had a transverse fractures; 3 patients had a oblique fractures, excluding the long-oblique patients. Neer function score after 3 months follow-up and the shoulder activity degree after 3 weeks followed were compared respectively between the injured side and healthy side. Fracture reduction and healing were followed up by X-rays to analyze internal fixation with TEN technique.
RESULTSAll patients were healed well after surgery. There were 2 cases with soft tissue irritation. No cases of infection, TEN broken, delayed healing or skin bursting were observed. All patients were followed up for 3 to 10 months, with an average of 7.2 months. There were no significant differences (t=2.12, P>0.05) between the healthy side (98.75±2.70) and injured side(96.69±6.22)of Neer score at 3 months during followed up. The shoulder activity at 3 weeks during followed up was different between both sides (P<0.05). The intramedullary nail was removed after X-rays at 12-18 weeks during followed up showed good bone healing, and the shoulder function was recovered well.
CONCLUSIONInternal fixation with TEN for the treatment of clavicular fracture has advantages of a limited invasion, beauty, safety and reliability. This technique provides an ideal fixation option for the treatment of clavicular fracture in elder children.

Objective To explore the relationships between resistin rs1477341 , rs3219175 and type2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) in Guangdong. Methods 180 patients of diagnosed T2DM in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou Medical University from January 2013 to December 2014 were enrolled in the study as the treatment group and another 180 subjects taking health examination as the control group. The genotype distributions of rs1477341 locus A/T, rs3219175 locus A/G were compared and the relationship between the genotypes and T2DM were anlysed by the logistic regression. Results The frequencies of the rs1477341, rs3219175 locus genotype reached the genetic equilibrium, showed their representativeness of a population group. The frequency distribution of rs1477341 genotype was statistically insignificant across the two groups (P > 0.05). The frequency of rs3219175 genotype AA+AG was decreased while genotype GG increased significantly compared to the control group (P < 0.05). The logistic regression results suggest genotype GG may increase disease risk of T2DM which the morbidity rate of AG homozygote was 0.630 times as high as that of GG homozygote (OR =0.630, 95%CI:0.405 ~ 0.980, P < 0.05) and the morbidity rate of GG homozygote was 1.551 times as higher as that of AA+AG homozygote (OR = 1.551, 95%CI:1.016 ~ 2.368, P < 0.05). Conclusions rs1477341 genotype has no correlation with T2DM among the population in Guangdong , but rs3219175 genotype does. GG may have a higher susceptibility to T2DM.
