1.Determination of function of proximal stomach and gastric electrical activity in healthy youths

Objective To evaluate the relationship of gastric function of its proximal portion and electrogastrogram in healthy youths with obesity.Methods A total of 35 healthy young volunteers with normal weight participated in the study,including 16 females and 19 males.On the first day,the water load test was performed.On the second day,determination of function of proximal portion of stomach was done using electronic barostat and electrogastrogram.Results Water load test:females were found to consume significantly less water than males(P0.05)between male group and female group in the minimal distention pressure(MDP),initial intragastric pressure(IP)and the maximal tolerance pressure(MP).The initial gastric compliance(IC)in female group was less than that in male group(P0.05).The parameter of EGG:with the intragastric pressure increased,DF in Normal Range(N%)showed decreasing tendency,while bradygastria(B%),tachygastria(T%),instable coefficient of dominant frequency(DFIC)and dominant power(DP)increased.Conclusion The gastric capacity,the parameters of visceral sensitivity and IC are remarkably different between sexes.The gastric electrical activity varies in different states of proximal gastric function.The gastric contraction may be enhanced by an improvement of dominant power(DP).
2.The study of the subthreshold depression and their quality of life for long-term survivors after breast cancer surgery

Objective To investigate the subthreshold depression for long-term survivors after breast cancer surgery and its effect on their quality of life (QOL). Methods The self-made general questionnaire, Centre for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES- D), Hamihon Rating Scale for Depression and Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy- Breast were used to investigate the subthreshold depression and its effect on their QOL for 210 long-term survivors after breast cancer surgery. The difference in general conditions and score of QOL between the subthreshold depression and non-subthreshold depression groups was also compared. Results The subthreshold depression with incidence rate of 46.67%(98/210) was observed for the log-term survivors after breast cancer surgery in this study. The results indicated that the age (≤50) (OR=5.627, 2.662,P<0.01), marriage (unmarried, divorced or widowed) (OR=5.087, P<0.01), employment (unemployed, sick leave or retired) (OR=2.077,P<0.05) and low income (<3000 RMB/month) (OR=3.375,P<0.01) were the key factors that led to the occurrence of subthreshold depression. The score of QOL for the subthreshold depression group were lower than those of the non-subthreshold depression group (t=-6.653--2.926,P<0.01), and had a significantly negative correlation with score of depression and QOL (β=-0.362--0.132). Conclusions A high incidence rate of subthreshold depression for long-term survivors after breast cancer surgery was observed. The incidence rate of subthreshold depression increased for the patients with younger age, low income,unmarried or unemployment. Due to their low QOL, attentions should be paid to the early detection and early prevention for the long-term survivors with subthreshold depression after breast cancer surgery.
3.The comparing studies on protective effects of TGM ang TGP on erythrocytes

The inhibitory effects of total glucosides of Moutan Cortex (TGM) and to talglucosides of Paeony Lactiflora (TGP) on osmotic hemolysis and oxidative hemolysis induced by hydrogen peroxide were studied. TGM at lower concentration and TGP could inhibit osmotic hemolysis significcantly, but higher concentration (100mg ? L-1) of TGM had a hemolytic activity. TGM and TGP could inhibit hemolysis induced by H2O2 significantly,but TGM was more effective than TGP. TGM .TGP and Vit E all could inhibit lipid peroxidation and glutathione depletion, induced by H2O2, on erythrocytes.
4.Clinical observation of Yiling-Qutan Decoction used to treat sub-health

Objective To explore the clinical efficacy of the Yiling-Qutan Decoction on treating Sub-health and the mechanism of traditional Chinese medicine.Methods 219 cases of Sub-health and belonging to dampness-phlegm syndrome and were collected and treated with Yiling-Qutan Decoction for 1 month.The effective rate of syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine and state of Sub-health,syndrome score of traditional Chinese medicine and sub-health status score were observed.Results The effective rate of syndrome of traditional Chinese medicine:7 patients were cured,35 cases were significantly effective,171 cases were effective and 6 cases were unfruitful.The improvement of syndrome score of and Sub-health status were also significantly better (P<0.01).Conclusion It was effective to treat sub-health with Yiling-Qutan Decoction.
5.Comprehensive correction of secondary lip-nasal deformities after operation of unilateral cleft lip

Objective To introduce a method of comprehension correction for secondary lip-nasal deformities after operation of the completely unilateral cleft lip. Methods The correction consisted of the following procedures: reposition of the columella and nasal alar crus by one tractional suture with nostril base narrowing; modification of flat nostril by a MT-plasty at the edge of naris; arising of the nasal alar and nasal dorsor by ePTFE implantation; reconstruction of the Cupid's bow by M type incision and vermilion advancement; repair of the vermilion deficit with the hinge mucosal flap and bipedicle mucosal flaps of the lower lip. Results Twenty-one cases with secondary lip-nasal deformities were successfully corrected by these comprehensive methods. Ten of them were followed-up for three months to 1 year with satisfactory effects. Conclusion The comprehensive methods can be used to correct satisfactorily the secondary lip-nasal deformities after operation of the completely unilateral cleft lip.
7.The effects of γ-ray radiation on hematopoiesis and T lymphocyte subset function

Objective To observe the effects of whole body γ-ray radiation on hematopoiesis and cytokines related to T cell subsets in mouse,to detect the expression of transcription factors of splenic T cell subsets,and to investigate the correlation between hematopoiesis injury and abnormal immune function.Methods Totally 50 BALB/c mice were divided into radiation group and blank control group with the random number table method.The former group were given 5.5 Gy 60Co γ-ray radiation on whole body and another received sham radiation.The numbers of white blood cells and platelets of radiation group were counted at 4,8,12 and 20 d after radiation,and these numbers of blank control mice were counted only at 20 d.Hematopoietic tissue proliferation was evaluated by biopsy sections of mice femur.The contents of Th1,Th2,and Th17 in peripheral blood were detected with cytometric bead array (CBA).The expressions of T-bet/GATA-3 and RORγt/Foxp3 proteins related to the differentiation of T cell subsets in spleen tissue were measured by Western blot.Results The numbers of white blood cells and platelets of radiation group mice were reduced obviously (t WBC =18.48,15.72,9.79,3.30; t PLT =22.52,19.74,11.78,4.70,P < 0.05) compared with blank control group.Biopsy sections showed that bone marrow hematopoietic cells of the radiated mice were less than those of blank group,and adipocytes became more.At 8 d,the marrow suppressions were more obvious than those at 20 d.Serum contents of Th1 cytokines IFN-γ,TNF-α and Th2 cytokines IL-4,IL-6 in the radiation group were higher than those in the blank control group at 8 and 12 d(t IFN-γ =2.93,3.36,t TNF-α =6.09,8.11,6.43,4.49,tIL-4 =4.49,3.18,t IL-6=5.11,8.67,6.67,8.55,P<0.05).IL-17A secreted mainly by Th17 cells was also higher than the blank (t =3.68,6.24,5.32,4.06,P < 0.05).Compared with the blank control group,the expression of T-bet protein increased significantly (t =5.64,2.75,3.56,4.65,P < 0.05),and the expressions of GATA-3,RORγt,and Foxp3 proteins decreased at 4,8 and 12 d except the RORγt at 20 d (tRORγt =6.79,4.31,4.47,tGATA-3 =3.88,8.06,2.84,3.23,tFoxp3 =10.00,8.06,2.89,5.93,P< 0.05).Conclusions 5.5 Gy whole body γ-ray radiation inhibits bone marrow hematopoiesis of BALB/c mice and makes the differentiation and function of T cells to be abnormal,which may be associated with bone marrow hematopoiesis obstacle.
8.Fulminate Stenotrophomonas maltophilia Infection in ICU:An Epidemiological Study

OBJECTIVE To find out fulminate epidemiological features of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia in ICU and the ways to prevent and treat this nosocomial infection.METHODS The case histories from 4 inpatients who developed S.maltophilia infection in the same ward from Feb 5 to 16,2006,were studied retrospectively to find out the reasons of its onset and its treatment based on the sputum culture results.RESULTS The fulminate S.maltophilia was found from the rail of the patient bed,the connection part of water container of 2 respiratory machines of exhalation valve assembly and the liquid of ultrasonic aeriation machine.CONCLUSIONS The infection is a localized one.The main reasons of the infection are unthorough disinfection of respiratory machine and the contamination of medical treatment environment.Whenever the infection is found in the ward,the thorough disinfection needs immediately,and no new patient admitted.
9.A study on hyaluronic acid levels predicting the progression of osteoarthritis

Objective To study the predictive value of serum hyaluronic acid (HA) levels for morphological progression of osteoarthritis (OA).Methods Seventy New Zealand white rabbits were randomly and equally divided into the OA group and the normal control group.OA was induced by injecting 0.5 ml of 2% papain into the left knee joints and the same volume of sterile saline solution was injected Into right knee joints in control group.The serum HA levels were detected at 1,2,4,6,8,10 and 12 weeks after injection.Then magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and pathohistological changes were observed.T test was used for the analysis of measurment.Resuts Compared with the control group,degeneration changes were found in the OA group,such as thinner articular cartilage,fibrillation and destroyed cartilage matrix,and inflammation,proliferation and degeneration of the synovial tissue.All these changes were much worse with prolonged observation time.The serum HA levels were increased [12 week:(657±132) ng/ml,vs (166±8) ng/ml],which correlate with structural damage.Conclusion Serum HA levels had a predictive value for further development of OA.
10.Effect of decitabine on proliferation and differentiation of K562 cells

AIM:To investigate the effect of decitabine (Dacogen, DAC) on the proliferation and differentia-tion of K562 cells.METHODS:The K562 cells were treated with different concentrations of DAC .The colony formation ability of the cells was detected by the colony formation assay with semi-solid culture .The cell viability was detected with MTT assay.The morphologic features were observed under inverted microscope with Wright ’s staining.The changes of the cell cycle distribution and the expression of CD 11b and CD42b were analyzed with flow cytometry .The protein expression of CDK2, cyclin E1, P27, GATA-1 and PU.1 in the K562 cells was determined by Western blot .RESULTS:DAC signifi-cantly decreased the colony number of the cells and cell viability in a dose-dependent manner .The morphological changes of the cells displayed partial differentiation .After treated the K562 cells with DAC for 72 h, the cell proportion in S phase was obviously decreased , while the cell proportion in G 2/M phase was obviously increased in a dose-dependent manner . After treated the K562 cells with DAC for 7 d, the percentage of CD11b and CD14 positive cells was further elevated , and the protein expression of P27, GATA-1 and PU.1 was increased.However, the protein expression of CDK2 and cyclin E1 was decreased .CONCLUSION:DAC inhibits the proliferation and induces differentiation of the K 562 cells via regulation of cell cycle .
