Chinese Journal of Clinical Oncology 2013;(22):1382-1386
Objective:To investigate high sensitivity-C reactive protein (Hs-CRP) as a prognostic factor in non-Hodgkin lympho-ma (NHL). Methods:Data for 85 consecutive non-Hodgkin lymphoma patients were followed up and reviewed to determine the value of Hs-CRP relative to known prognostic parameters. Results:The progression-free survival (PFS) and overall survival (OS) times of pa-tients with pre-therapeutic baseline serum Hs-CRP levels of≥4 mg/L were shorter than those of patients with basal serum Hs-CRP lev-els of<4 mg/L (P>0.05). However, the post-therapeutic, early-to-mid serum Hs-CRP level was not significantly correlated with the OS and PFS times (P>0.05). Multivariate Cox regression analysis showed that the pre-therapeutic baseline serum Hs-CRP level may be an important prognostic parameter for the relapse and survival of NHL patients (P<0.05). Conclusion:The baseline Hs-CRP level can be a major indicator of prognosis in NHL patients.

BACKGROUND:Interstitial fluid flow around the osteocytes caused by a series of physiological activities plays an important role in the osteocyte metabolism and signal transduction.
OBJECTIVE:To review and summarize the research progress of bone structures and physiological functions, then further il ustrate how the mechanical loads make an impact on bone tissue.
METHODS:A computer-based search was conducted in PubMed database for articles related to the bone microstructure, metabolism and osteocyte signal transduction published from January 2009 to December 2015. The keywords were“osteocyte, mechanical load, permeability, lacunar-canalicular system, interstitial fluid flow, mechanotransduction, signaling pathways”in English. Data were screened firstly, dated articles or literatures with wrong research methods were excluded, and total y 40 eligible articles were enrol ed.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Bone tissue can quickly adapt to the change of mechanical environment to guarantee enough osteocytes in the functional bone area indicating that osteocytes regulate the bone absorption and formation by responding to stress, which is closely related to osteocyte physiological characters. Osteocytes exist in mineralized matrix, and the special microstructures make it possible to receive mechanical loads and transform the mechanical signals into chemical signals aimed at regulating the bone absorption or formation. So the interstitial fluid flow in the lacuna-canalicular system occures, namely load-induced fluid flow, when the mechanical load is distributed on the bone. This fluid flow affects the bone tissue through two mechanisms:regulating osteocyte metabolism and participating in the mechanotransduction. In conclusion, the mechanical load plays a vital role in maintaining health bone and regulating bone adaptation.

Chinese Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2017;32(1):14-16
Various of long-lasting and persistent bradyarrhythmia can induce cardiomyopathy. The pathogenesis of bradycardia-induced cardiomyopathy(BIC) is not clear, which is possibly related to significantly prolonged ventricular diastole, overloaded volume, changes of atrioventricular activation sequence, changes of atrioventricular sequence contraction, myocardial hypoperfusion, effect of neuroendocrine, etc.Diagnosis of disease includes a medical history of persistent bradycardia;relevant clinical symptoms (fatigue, dizziness, black Meng even syncope);the signs and symptoms of right or left heart failure in serious cases;electrocardiogram prompt bradycardia;echocardiography shows dilation of heart, less obvious reduction left ventricular ejection fraction (compensatory),but the left ventricle index can be decreased.Treatment is mainly to early identify the causes of bradycardia and remove it and pharmacotherapy, cardiac pacemaker therapy.Heart function can be back to normal after therapy(cardiac pacemaker).

[Objective] This study examined the distribution and the expression of platelet-derived growth factor-A (PDGF-A) in the ligamentum teres of children with developmental dislocation of the hip (DDH) and normal persons in order to investigate the roles of PDGF-A in hip joint laxity. [Methods]There were six pairs of joint laxity of children with DDH and normal children (control group) matched to gender and age. Immunohistochemistry (SP method) method was used to detect the location and distribution of the PDGF-A in the ligamentum teres, and to semi-quantify their content.Semiquantitative RT-PCR method was used to detect the PDGF-A in the ligamentum teres at mRNA level. The quantitative analysis of the PDGF-A was performed by professional image software and the results were analyzed with standard statistical methods.[Results]High density expression was observed in the synovial layer with fibroblast regularly arranged parallel to the joint surface in the ligamentum teres. PDGF-A distribution was decreased in the fibrous layer of the ligamentum teres. There were significant differences in the percentage of positive fibroblast and gray-scale density in the fibrous layer between DDH group and control group (P

Objective To observe the changes of morphology and biochemical parameters in rats with D-galactose-induced skin ageing. Methods Twenty-six female and male rats were randomly divided into 2 groups. D-galactose group rats were injected subcutaneously with 120 mg?kg-1?d-1 of D-galactose everyday, whereas the control group with normal saline. The rats were sacrificed on days 100. The ageing-related biochemical parameters were detected in the blood and skin, and the cutaneous histopathology was observed. Epidermal thickness and area of elastic fibers were determined quantitatively with imaging analysis system. Results Epidermal thickness and content of elastic fibers were significantly lower in D-galactose group than those in the control group. The loose arrangement of collagen and elastic fibers was evident in D-galactose group. These features of the rats in D-galactose group were similar to those in the ageing skin of human beings. Compared with the control group, the levels of hydroxyproline decreased and malondialdehyde (MDA) increased in the skin of the D-galactose group. The activity of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-PX) and catalase (CAT) in the whole blood and that of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in erythrocytes were remarkably reduced in the D-galactose group as compared to the control group. Conclusions The rat models with skin ageing are established by subcutaneous injection of 120 mg?kg-1?d-1 of D-galactose once daily for 100 days. The changes of morphologic and biochemical parameters in these models are analogous to those in human skin ageing.
