Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of mesalazine and bifid-triple viable combination therapy in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC).Methods Thirty-eight UC patients were evenly divided into mesalazine group and combination group. Patients in mesalazine group were administrated with mesalazine (1.0 g/time,four times/day),and on the basis of this, the patients in combination group were added into bifid-triple viable (420 mg/time,three times/day).The course of treatment was eight weeks. The improvement of patients' clinical symptom and manifestation under colonoscope were observed at second day after hospitalization and eight weeks after medication.Mayo disease activity index was used for scoring. Before and after the treatment, the expression of intestinal mucosa nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB),tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-a) and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) were tested by immunohistochemical staining and the levels of serum TNF-α,interleukin-8 (IL-8), interleukin-10 (IL-10) were determined by double antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. The level of serum superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) was detected by nitrite method and thiobarbituric acid coloration method. Before and after treatment was compared with paired t-test,and qualitative data was analyzed with ordinal rank sum test. Results Mayo disease activity index score of the combination group decreased from 7.16±2.01 to 1.63± 1.30 while the mesalazine group from 7.42 ± 1.95 to 3.00 ± 1.25.The difference of reduction was statistically significant (t =2.093,P =0.043).The efficiency of the combination group was higher than that of mesalazine group (16/19 vs 10/19,Fisher's exact test,P=0.039).After treatment, the expressions of NF-κB,TNF-α and COX-2 in colonic mucosa of two groups were both lower than those of before treatment, and in combination group the decrease were more significant (t value was 2.262,2.607 and 2.522 respectively,P value was 0.027,0.012 and 0.014 respectively). After treatment, the concentration of IL-8 of mesalazine group and the combination group both significantly decreased, however IL-10 significantly increased. The difference between these two groups was statistically significant (t value of TNF-α,IL-8 and IL-10 was 4.244,6.858 and 6.802 respectively, all P< 0.01). After treatment, both SOD vitality of two groups increased compare with that before treatment, however the level of MDA was lower than that before treatment and the changes of combination group were more significant. Conclusion The combination therapy with mesalazine and bifid-triple viable can effectively suppress inflammatory response in mild and moderate ulcerative colitis, and bifid-triple viable may play a role as adjuvant therapy for patients with UC.

Purpose To investigate the expression of Netrin-1 in ovarian serous carcinoma and its c1inicopatho1ogica1 significance. Methods Netrin-1 protein expression was assessed by immunohistochemica1 method in tissue specimens from 20 cases of benign ovari-an serous cystadenomas,13 cases of border1ine ovarian serous neop1asms and 32 cases of ovarian serous carcinomas( OSC). Results The positive proportion of Netrin-1 protein in OSC tissues was significant1y higher than those in border1ine and benign ovarian serous ne-op1asms(P<0. 01). The expression of Netrin-1 in OSC tissues was associated with tumor grade and c1inica1 stage(P<0. 05),but not associated with age, site, tumor size or 1ymph node metastasis( P>0. 05). Kap1an-Meier ana1ysis showed that the 5-year surviva1 rate of patients with Netrin-1 over-expression was significant1y 1ower than that of patients with 1ower expression( P<0. 05 ). Conclu-sions The high expression of Netrin-1 in OSC tissues indicates that Netrin-1 p1ays an important ro1e in cancer pathogenesis and deve1-opment and it may be a new assistant marker for prognosis of OSC.

Objective To observe the effect of tetraethylplyrazine(TMP) on outward K~+ channel of outer hair cells in guinea pig cochlea. Methods 60 guinea pigs were divided into 6 groups randomly in the experiment.Auditory brainstem response was used to monitor the change of ABR thresholds and patch clamp techniques to observe the effect of TMP on outward K~+ channel. Results TMP decreased the elevated ABR threshold caused by streptomycin. The TMP increased the amplitudes of calcium sensitive potassium channels (I_ K(Ca) ) and delayed outward potassium channels (IK) of outer hair cells of guinea pig cochlea. Conclusion The study indicates that TMP may act as a protective agent against ototoxicity of streptomycin. The amplitudes of I_ K(Ca) and IK of outer hair cells are increased by the TMP,suggesting the possible mechanisms of reducing ototoxicity.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the efficacy on hemiplegic spasticity after cerebral infarction treated with plum blossom needle tapping therapy at the key points and Bobath therapy.
METHODSEighty patients were collected, in compliance with the inclusive criteria of hemiplegic spasticity after cerebral infarction, and randomized into an observation group and a control group, 40 cases in each one. In the control group, Bobath manipulation therapy was adopted to relieve spasticity and the treatment of 8 weeks was required. In the observation group, on the basis of the treatment as the control group, the tapping therapy with plum blossom needle was applied to the key points, named Jianyu (LI 15), Jianliao (LI 14), Jianzhen (SI 9), Hegu (LI 4), Chengfu (BL 36), Zusanli (ST 36), Xiyangguan (GB 33), etc. The treatment was given for 15 min each time, once a day. Before treatment, after 4 and 8 weeks of treatment, the Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA) and Barthel index (BI) were adopted to evaluate the motor function of the extremity and the activity of daily life in the patients of the two groups separately. The modified Ashworth scale was used to evaluate the effect of anti-spasticity.
RESULTSIn 4 and 8 weeks of treatment, FMA: scores and BI scores were all significantly increased as compared with those before treatment in the two groups: (both P<0. 05). The results in 8 weeks of treatment in the observation group were significantly better than those in the control group (all P<0. 05). In 4 and 8 weeks of treatment, the scores of spasticity state were improved as compared with those before treatment in the patients of the two groups (all P<0. 05). The result in 8 weeks of treatment in the observation group was significantly better than that in the control group (P<0. 05). In 8 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate of anti-spasticity was 90. 0% (36/40) in the observation group, better than 75. 0% (30/40) in the control group (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSIONThe tapping therapy with plum blossom needle at the key points combined with Bobath therapy effectively relieves hemiplegic spasticity in the patients of cerebral infarction and improves the motor function of extremity and the activity of daily life.
